Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1779: Chapter 1681: Robbery

Huo Sining shook her head with a smile, ”No need to thank me. In the face of a natural disaster, everyone is vulnerable. Those of us who are still alive are already very fortunate, so if I can help, I will absolutely not refuse.”

The children, upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, were somewhat taken aback. Watching Huo Sining turn to leave, someone suddenly summoned the courage to shout from behind her:

”The teacher was crushed under the rubble while saving us. She pushed us out, but she herself... Sister, can I... can I go with you to save people?”

Huo Sining halted in her steps and turned back to look at the tear-streaked faces of the children. They were seventeen or eighteen years old, just stepping from ignorance into maturity. These children, like newborn calves, looked at her with an undaunted gaze, their clear eyes filled with nothing but courage and reverence for life.

Huo Sining sighed inwardly, hesitated slightly, then nodded, ”Leave one person to look after your teacher, and the rest of you come with me!”

The children exchanged glances, and in the end, they left a slightly shorter and frailer boy to watch over the injured teacher, while the remaining four followed behind Huo Sining without the slightest hesitation.

Huo Sining glanced at the children and frowned, ”Wait here for me for a moment.”

Without further explanation, Huo Sining ran to the other side. Shortly after, she entered an alley, and before long, she re-emerged, now holding two backpacks—one filled with food and water, the other with emergency medical supplies.

Returning to the children’s location, Huo Sining threw the two backpacks to them, indicating, ”Take these with you. If we encounter someone truly in need, I will tell you, and then you can take them out.”

After saying this, Huo Sining pulled out a few pairs of gloves from her own backpack, ”Put these on; when we save people later, you might need to help move those large stones!”

The children had already begun to see Huo Sining as their mainstay. None of them questioned where Huo Sining had obtained the food and emergency supplies. They were already bewildered by Huo Sining’s actions; whatever she said, they followed.

With this makeshift rescue team, Huo Sining returned to the hotel. Although the children were youthful, they were boys and therefore naturally stronger than Huo Sining, and they helped her a lot along the way.

Just as Huo Sining and a few children had rescued some refugees, a tall man in his twenties suddenly sprang out from the side. He had a prominent scar on his face and looked fierce and menacing. He ran up with a knife in hand, threatening one of the children:

”Kid, be obedient and hand over your backpack!”

Huo Sining was in the middle of treating a severely injured person whose lower limbs had been crushed with bones nearly visible. She was just about to ask the child for a bandage when this unexpected encounter left her stunned.

The children were also dumbfounded. Seeing the thug wielding a knife, they started trembling, their legs weak with fear.

The child holding the backpack was trembling, having never encountered such a scene before. Even his voice quivered as he spoke, ”You... what do you... want?”

Huo Sining and her group had been focused on rescuing people, paying no attention to their surroundings, unaware that the thug had been following them for an hour.

Upon seeing them extract emergency supplies, including hemostatic agents and bandages, from their backpacks after saving people from the rubble, the thug’s malicious intent instantly surfaced.

His greedy eyes were fixed on the child’s backpack, sneering coldly, ”What do I want? Throw your backpacks over to me, and you... take off that helmet you’re wearing and toss it here, or I’ll kill him with one strike!”

The thug pointed at the protective gear on Huo Sining’s head with a fierce expression, holding the knife to the child’s neck, terrifying everyone.

Surrounded by disaster victims, most of those rescued by Huo Sining and her team had been relocated to this flat ground. The families of those victims had also followed here, grateful for Huo Sining and her team’s help. Still, no one had anticipated such a sudden change of events.

The children were petrified, especially the one with the knife to his throat. Terror and confusion flooded his mind. He never imagined surviving a natural disaster, only to face human malice. The unpredictability of the human heart meant that even a bit of medical supplies could provoke such greed.

The onlookers, already stretched to the limit by the earthquake, felt indignant yet apprehensive seeing the intimidating thug armed with a knife. Fearful for their safety, none dared to take a risk.

Even the families of those rescued by Huo Sining, witnessing this scene, opted for self-preservation. A few old grannies were too angry to hold back their curses, but that’s all they did. Under the thug’s intimidation, no one dared to step forward.

Seeing this situation, Huo Sining sighed heavily, putting down the hemostatic agent and tweezers in her hands. She stood up and addressed the thug, ”You want my helmet? Fine, I’ll give it to you. You can also take the backpack, just let the child go!”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, the thug was delighted but soon realized something. He sneered at Huo Sining, ”Don’t try to play tricks. Do you think I’m an idiot? Give me the items without tricks, or I’ll kill him!”

Huo Sining nodded to the child, signaling, ”Xiao Fan, give him the backpack!”

Xiao Fan looked up at Huo Sining; her eyes encouraged him without a hint of panic or fear.

For some reason, seeing Huo Sining’s gaze put Xiao Fan at ease, as if he received some encouragement, and he was no longer afraid.

He slowly handed the backpack to the thug, who took it and slung it over his shoulder, still holding the knife against the child, his gaze fixed on Huo Sining, ”And your helmet!”

Huo Sining nodded, without a moment’s hesitation, as she undid the buckle on her helmet and removed it from her head.
