Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1773: Chapter 1675: Reaping What You Sow

”This matter has already been exposed, which is equivalent to completely tearing the mask off. Now you want me to go reconcile with them; how could I face them? I’m afraid if I go, they might directly slap me across the face!”

”If Gu Xu hadn’t acted decisively and driven the Hummer over to stop it, I’m afraid it wouldn’t be Su Lingxue lying in bed on the verge of death, but Huo Si Ning. Do you think such a serious matter can be passed off lightly?”

Upon hearing Xu Shaoqing say that Huo Si Ning’s net worth is in the billions, Mother Su’s face immediately stiffened, and she skeptically said:

”Isn’t Huo Si Ning’s family supposed to be officials? With so much money, could it be embezzlement or bribery?”

Xu Shaoqing was on the verge of cursing, but he restrained the anger in his heart. However, he was already quite impatient dealing with Su Family’s parents:

”Aunt Su, she was already making billions through her own business before marrying into the Gu Family. It’s premarital property and has nothing to do with the Gu Family!”

”That’s not the point. The point is, Su Lingxue indeed made a mistake first, and now the initiative is in their hands. Regardless of the outcome, we just have to bear it.”

Mother Su had initially hoped Xu Shaoqing could help, but hearing these words, she was immediately dissatisfied and her attitude took a complete turn:

”I don’t think it’s a matter of being difficult, but rather you don’t want to help negotiate for our Lingxue? I know what you’re thinking; this must be Su Anya’s intention, right? She’s jealous of our Lingxue being better off than her. After she got married, she started looking down on us poor relatives. If I had known you all were thinking this way, I wouldn’t have asked you in the first place!”

Xu Shaoqing always knew what kind of people the Su Family’s uncle’s household were, but he never expected that despite his efforts, he would receive insults instead of gratitude, making him furious enough to disregard any familial facade and coldly say:

”Since Aunt Su, you don’t appreciate me, Xu Shaoqing, why should I continue advising you? No matter how much I help, in your eyes, it’s treated as if it’s expected. I won’t hide it from you any longer: this time, I truly don’t want to get involved. I don’t have the thick skin to keep cleaning up Su Lingxue’s mess. You may be Su Anya’s relatives, but to me, you’re just distant family, taking advantage!”

”Additionally, to speak bluntly, if you truly wish well for Su Lingxue, stop causing trouble. Honestly accept the reality; maybe then the Gu Family might lighten the punishment on Su Lingxue. Otherwise, prepare to send Su Lingxue to jail!”

After these words, Xu Shaoqing couldn’t be bothered to argue further with the Su Family’s parents and directly hung up the phone.

Upon hearing this, Mother Su felt like she was about to explode with anger, clutching the cellphone and angrily confronting Father Su:

”Look at the kind of people Su Anya married; Xu Shaoqing is indeed useless, saying we are distant relatives. It’s infuriating! I’m going to call your sister-in-law and ask what’s going on with her son-in-law. How can he refuse to help a little bit and resist so much? It’s outrageous!”

Uncle Su wasn’t stupid; he already realized something was off from Xu Shaoqing’s attitude.

Although Su Lingxue had made mistakes before, Xu Shaoqing would still try his best to help, but this time, his stance was so firm, indicating that this matter wouldn’t be easily brushed aside.

Upon hearing Aunt Su still wanting to cause trouble with his brother and sister-in-law, Uncle Su immediately got angry.

”What are you making a fuss about? What does this have to do with my brother and sister-in-law? Isn’t this something your dear daughter stirred up? If you truly care for your daughter, then act wisely and find a lawyer to understand how to proceed, rather than anything else! Truly, if you delay any longer, you’ll harm her more!”

The moment Uncle Su spoke, Aunt Su was suddenly too scared to speak.

Uncle Su was right; in this situation, no matter what they did, hiring a lawyer would be more effective because it was already a criminal case. No amount of petty schemes would be useful.

However, what Uncle Su never expected was that after contacting several law firms, all of the lawyers initially expressed enthusiasm and bravado but suddenly changed their stance upon learning the details of the case, offering excuses, or outright refusing to take it.

No law firm was willing to take on this case, which was obviously doomed to fail, especially after Gu Xu had posted undeniable evidence online, swaying public opinion and eyewitness testimony in favor of Huo Si Ning’s side.

Even if the Su Family hired the strongest legal team, there was no chance of winning this lawsuit.

Only now did Su Family’s parents realize what kind of person they had provoked. The Gu Family had influence everywhere, considered every angle, and had the public on their side; any struggle on their part would be in vain.

Mother Su was unconvinced and followed a relative’s advice, secretly hiring online trolls in hopes of swaying online sentiment to favor Su Lingxue.

But as soon as the trolls began working, they were immediately discovered and exposed online, leading to even harsher backlash from netizens. The trolls Mother Su hired were quickly overwhelmed by Huo Si Ning’s supporters.

Seeing the situation turning completely against them, Su Family’s parents didn’t dare to act rashly anymore, waiting for the court’s verdict.

Due to the pressure from the Gu Family, the case was settled quickly, and the results were announced within a month.

Su Lingxue was convicted of attempted murder, and due to the previous attempt to frame Huo Si Ning and the severity of her actions, as well as the negative social impact, she was sentenced to ten years in prison.

When this outcome was announced, netizens cheered, while Su Family’s parents seemed to age overnight by ten years.

As for Su Lingxue, her injuries were not severe and she was discharged from the hospital after half a month, only to be taken to the police station for detention, followed by court proceedings resulting in a ten-year sentence, leaving her in tears of regret, but it was too late.

Huo Si Ning did not attend the court proceedings as the filming of ”The Legend of the Mermaid” was nearing completion. She wasn’t concerned with the final outcome for Su Lingxue, simply eager to finish filming the last scenes to wrap up production.
