Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1795: Chapter 1698: Bring Her Back

Zheng Huaqing explained: ”My daughter also advised her to come back, but she refused and brought several students to Meishan to participate in rescue operations. Miss Huo seems to have pretty good medical skills; my daughter said she’s saved quite a few people.”

Upon hearing this, Su Jinyuan was silent for a few seconds before saying, ”Got it, Director Zheng, thank you for informing us of this news.”

”You’re welcome, Miss Huo originally went to Meishan because of her involvement in the movie my daughter is directing. If something really happened to her there, I would be asked to bear responsibility, and I wouldn’t know how to explain it to you. Fortunately, she’s okay, so I can lay down my worries and have a peaceful night’s sleep.”

Zheng Huaqing exchanged a few pleasantries with Su Jinyuan before hanging up the phone.

As soon as the phone was hung up, the Su Family members gathered around in unison: ”How is it, is Ningning alright? Is she safe?”

Su Jinyuan nodded, but his expression did not show much improvement.

”Where is she now?” Su Qingqing asked urgently, not noticing the heaviness in Su Jinyuan’s demeanor.

Su Zhenhua noticed his son’s unease and asked: ”Since she’s alright, why do you look like that? What’s the problem?”

Su Jinyuan glanced at Huang Hongying and said solemnly: ”Zheng Huaqing informed me that the film crew of ’The Legend of the Mermaid’ is unharmed, and my cousin isn’t injured either, but Zheng Lixiang took the team back to Qing City with the rescue team. However, Ningning refused to return; she stayed in Meishan and joined a rescue team, working on disaster relief in the affected area.”

Upon hearing this, Huang Hongying panicked, ”Oh dear, how can this be? She’s just a young girl, how can she stay in such a dangerous place? With aftershocks continuing, what if she encounters some danger?”

Su Zhenhua showed appreciation: ”That child truly lives up to being Liang Ruining’s offspring, she is courageous and wise, yet also kind and dutiful, not forgetting to save people in such circumstances. Liang Ruining having a daughter like this is all one needs in life!”

Huang Hongying did not agree with Su Zhenhua’s words at all, and after giving her husband a look, she hurriedly picked up the phone and dialed the Imperial Capital.

Soon, the Huang Family, Zhou Family, and Gu Family received the news.

Knowing that Huo Sining was safe, everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief, but upon learning she remained in the disaster area, all the elders were deeply concerned.

Though these old folks greatly admired Huo Sining’s selfless behavior, none of them wanted her to take risks in these circumstances, especially since she was just a girl, incomparable to someone like Gu Xu, who emerged from the army with resilience and toughness. If something did happen, it would be too late to regret.

”No way, that child must be brought back!” Mrs. Gu immediately made her decision, ”Isn’t my son in Meishan too? Quickly, call him and have him find Ningning and bring her back!”

Mrs. Gu didn’t hesitate and directly called the Qing City Military Region.

After Gu Xu arrived in Meishan, he soon joined the search and rescue team. With his military background as a Falcon, he had substantial experience in reconnaissance and rescue operations, which greatly increased the rescue team’s efficiency under his direction.

However, even after wandering in Meishan Town for several hours and rescuing many people, the search team couldn’t find any trace of Huo Sining.

Gu Xu felt his heart sinking deeper and deeper, turned increasingly silent, his face tense, his gaze dark, devoid of any humor.

Even Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian grew more uneasy.

Everyone knew that the longer the time went by, the smaller the chances of survival for those waiting in the rubble, and Huo Sining not having any news for so long wasn’t a good sign.

”Xu Zi, take a break, you can’t save people like this, you’re gambling your life!”

Seeing Gu Xu constantly digging in the ruins without resting, Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian couldn’t bear it anymore, charging forward to pull him out forcefully.

Gu Xu’s eyes were bloodshot, his eyes red and swollen, yet he coldly stared at Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian: ”Get out of my way!”

”No, doing this, you’re only being stubborn with yourself. Even if something happened to your sister, she wouldn’t want to see you like this! Calm down, at least eat something and rest. If you collapse, once your sister sees this, she’ll surely hold us accountable!”

Ouyang Jun urged anxiously.

But there was no convincing Gu Xu, whose skills were top-notch, easily flipping Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian to the ground before picking up a shovel and heading back to the ruins.

Ouyang Jun fumed, getting ready to rush back and pull Gu Xu away again when suddenly, a special forces soldier with Gu Xu stood up, shouting at him in a trembling voice, ”Captain! Phone call!”

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian paused blankly, while Gu Xu’s whole body shivered, almost instantly dropping the shovel and rushing towards the direction of the soldier.

Holding the satellite phone in hand, Gu Xu’s hand trembled, almost unable to hold it properly. After pausing for several seconds, he managed to control his emotions, striving to keep his voice steady: ”Hello?”

As soon as he spoke, Mrs. Gu’s words poured over like a storm: ”Son, are you in Meishan now? Let me tell you, Ningning’s film crew called us; that girl is safe, escaped from the hotel without injury. The rescue team took their crew back to Qing City, but your wife refused to leave. I heard from the crew’s director that she formed a temporary rescue team with a few people and is involved in disaster relief in Meishan.”

”Now that it’s so chaotic there, find a way to locate her and don’t let her stay there any longer. Make sure to bring her back, do you understand?”

Hearing Mrs. Gu’s words, Gu Xu felt a surge of life rise from his heart, slowly warming his cold chest despite its gradual ascent.

He knew the old woman from his family wouldn’t fabricate lies to deceive him, and receiving this call surely confirmed some reliable information.

Knowing his wife was safe, Gu Xu came back to life, feeling as though he had journeyed through a cliff abyss during the ten-plus hours since the earthquake, teetering on the brink of despair as if the next moment would see him plummet and shatter.

This news from Mrs. Gu provided him with light, allowing him to finally relax his constant tension. He felt his eyes heat up instantly and after several seconds, managed to tell the person on the other end just one word:

”Okay.”
