Reborn As Super Heiress

Capítulo 1793: Chapter 1695: Escaped

The medical staff saw Huo Sining collapse onto the ground in a disheveled state, looking puzzled, especially the middle-aged man who looked over curiously and asked, “Are you alright?”

Huo Sining quickly waved her hand and said, “I’m fine, just been standing too long, feeling a bit exhausted. I’ll be alright after a short rest. You’d better go report the good news to the child’s family, don’t worry about me.”

Huo Sining had to count herself lucky that she was wearing protective gear and a helmet, concealing her completely. Otherwise, those medical staff would probably have looked at her with expressions like they’d seen a ghost.

She wasn’t a surgeon and hadn’t seen such bloody scenes in surgery. She could handle and bandage external injuries, but the gory sight of removing foreign objects from the abdominal cavity—Huo Sining swore she never wanted to see it again in her life.

Even without looking in a mirror, Huo Sining could imagine her current expression: ashen-faced, eyes filled with terror, a rigid expression, and lips trembling.

The medical staff, reminded by Huo Sining, hurriedly went out to give the good news to the couple.

The crowd outside had been waiting anxiously for half an hour. Upon hearing the good news, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Someone started applauding, and many others joined in, loudly praising the doctors and calling them conscience guides.

Amidst the chaos, Huo Sining quietly slipped off the side of the vehicle, waved to Li Gang and the others standing not far away, and then made her escape.

When the couple finally regained their composure from their excitement and rushed to the ambulance to see their child, they discovered that Huo Sining, who had been by the child’s side, was nowhere to be seen.

“Huh, where did that female doctor in protective clothing go?”

“She was just in the vehicle, saying she was too tired and needed a rest. Strange, how did she disappear in the blink of an eye?”

The medical staff also found it odd and instinctively looked around the crowd, but there was no sign of Huo Sining.

“No need to search.”

That middle-aged man sighed and said, “She kept her helmet on and refused to take it off, meaning she didn’t want to take credit or reveal her identity. I guess she used exhaustion as an excuse. Professor Nie Dechang, her teacher, is known for his excellent ethics and skills, and his students are selfless. We can’t keep up with such a person!”

Seeing their child successfully revived, the couple was filled with gratitude and was about to kneel before the doctors, but the middle-aged doctor hurriedly stopped them, saying:

“Don’t thank us. If you really want to, thank Professor Nie’s student. If it wasn’t for her, your son might already be dead. If you’re sincerely grateful, after the earthquake, send a banner to Professor Nie Dechang. Although we don’t know the female doctor’s name, her mentor is Professor Nie Dechang. Finding the mentor makes it easier to find the student.”

The couple nodded quickly, memorizing the name Nie Dechang deeply.

Meanwhile, Huo Sining hurriedly evaded the scene with Li Gang and the others. Seeing her stooping and sneaking around like a thief, Li Gang couldn’t help but laugh:

“Miss Huo, you saved a life, not committed a crime, so why act like a fugitive?”

Hearing Li Gang’s words, Huo Sining was taken aback, then laughed, stood up straight, and said joyfully, “Right, why am I sneaking around? I’m doing a good deed, not something to be ashamed of!”

The others couldn’t help but chuckle, while Liao Ping was curious and asked, “Miss Huo, did you originally study medicine? Are you a military doctor? You’re so young yet a major general. Your medical skills must be impressive. Then your mentor, called Nie Dechang, must be more remarkable?”

Huo Sining stumbled slightly, almost slipping.

Li Gang, on the other hand, smacked Liao Ping playfully on the head: “What kind of nonsense is that? Didn’t you see the child almost dying, and Miss Huo saved him in one move? Miss Huo’s mentor can treat the leaders in Zhonghai, so he’s naturally more impressive than Miss Huo! But Miss Huo is still young; she’s surely going to surpass her mentor in the future!”

Mao Wei and Yu Ronghua, ever good at following the wind, nodded in agreement at Li Gang’s flattering words, praising Huo Sining’s medical skills profusely.

But Huo Sining was a bit bemused.

She wasn’t a military doctor, nor was she Professor Nie Dechang’s student. She merely made up the excuse to dispel the medical staff’s suspicions, not expecting Li Gang and the others to misunderstand so much.

However, Huo Sining didn’t bother to clarify. She wasn’t familiar with Li Gang and the others; let the misunderstanding be. If they thought she was a military doctor, perhaps they’d be even more dedicated the next time she saved someone, sparing her a lot of trouble.

Still, she spent a lot of energy saving the child just now and had been rescuing people all afternoon. Her Spiritual Energy was almost depleted. She desperately needed a good sleep for a few hours to replenish the lost Spiritual Energy in her body quickly.

Thinking it over, Huo Sining asked Li Gang and the others for help, found the rescue team, and arranged for a tent where she got some sleep.

From the earthquake’s onset until dawn, Huo Sining hadn’t rested, and as soon as she lay down, she quickly fell asleep.

In a daze, she began to dream. She dreamt she was running desperately inside a building, but an earthquake struck, causing the building to collapse, burying her in the rubble. Gu Xu, along with Wu Jun and Ouyang Jun, dug through the rubble, crying and shouting, trying to find her, while she, trapped under the debris, wanted to call for help but couldn’t make a sound…

“Gu Xu, Gu Xu…”

Huo Sining cried anxiously, suddenly opening her eyes, only to find herself in a tent, her face covered in tears.

Realizing it was all a dream, Huo Sining let out a long sigh, took out her phone from her storage ring to check and found there was still no signal. She wondered if Gu Xu and the others would be worried after knowing her situation.

But soon, Huo Sining reassured herself, as she had asked Zheng Lixiang to inform Gu Xu that she was safe after going out with the rescue team, so she guessed Gu Xu probably already knew she was fine.

Thinking this, Huo Sining felt much better and quickly dismissed the chaotic and sad scenes from the dream out of her mind.
