Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 946: Chapter 942: Didn’t your mother teach you manners?

Huo Sining inwardly thought, as expected, it looks like what Ouyang Jun mentioned last time hasn’t been resolved yet.

Seeing Song Chaojing being so cautious and wary of Nara Nigawa, Huo Sining found it amusing yet couldn’t help but appreciate it. The children taught in the Gambling King’s family are indeed different, their alertness and vigilance are so high, you can tell at a glance they’re crafty.

Huo Sining laughed and said, ”I heard Ouyang Jun mention it once, but it’s been almost a month and it’s still not resolved.”

Song Chaojing shrugged, glanced at Nara Nigawa on the side, and whispered, ”It’s likely hanging; Dongyang people are the most rigid and stubborn, especially on such principle matters, they won’t yield an inch. Although my brother knows a lot of people here, few are influential enough, so it’s unlikely this matter will be resolved.”

Huo Sining nodded, her expression unchanged, but internally she was calculating.

Since she’s in Dongyang, she can’t just ignore this matter, but she won’t rush into action either. Now that Song Xiaochen is here too, she’d observe for a while first. If Song Xiaochen truly can’t resolve it, she still has time to intervene later.

They continued chatting while strolling around. Upon learning that Huo Sining is an exchange student at Waseda University, Song Chaojing was instantly filled with admiration, ”So impressive, it’s not easy to get an exchange student slot from the Mainland. It looks like your grades are excellent. How are you so good at gambling and still excel at studying, how do you manage it?”

Huo Sining thought, if you had a cheat like me, you could do it too. But she only thought this to herself, outwardly maintaining a mysterious facade, as if saying I’m an academic whiz that you can’t envy.

Huo Sining found another topic to divert the conversation, and Song Chaojing’s attention was quickly shifted. As they walked and observed, two people approached from not far away, glancing around before momentarily pausing their gaze on Huo Sining and Song Chaojing.

Huo Sining recognized the two as the Huaxia people rummaging through that package of drawing paper at the booth earlier. Internally, she understood, but her expression remained composed, looking at them innocently like one would a stranger, before casually averting her gaze.

Those two first fixed their sights on Nara Nigawa beside Huo Sining, then scrutinized Huo Sining and Song Chaojing’s outfits, eventually determining they weren’t the people they were looking for, then moved their eyes away.

”Let’s go,” said the older Huaxia person.

The younger Huaxia person was a bit unwilling, still staring at Huo Sining and Song Chaojing, trying to find some other clues.

But Huo Sining had changed her outfit this time, blessed in disguise. Her attire and age differed somewhat from the vendor’s previous description.

Though the young man was somewhat suspicious, he couldn’t be certain, and with the older Huaxia person urging him, he finally followed his companion and left.

Only when their figures vanished in the crowd did Huo Sining finally breathe a sigh of relief and continued browsing with Song Chaojing. Later, Huo Sining visited several antique stalls, but the goods were of mixed quality. After taking a few looks, she deemed them not worth it and gave up.

Just as the trio was about to reach the end of the back street, an old man pushing a wooden cart approached them. The cart was filled with porcelain that looked precarious and unstable. Having seen many scam artists in the Mainland, Huo Sining instinctively guarded against them and pulled Song Chaojing aside, fearing she’d bump into them.

Song Chaojing was puzzled but still stayed close to Huo Sining, clearing the path.

At that moment, on the other side of the wooden cart, the two Huaxia men who had walked away suddenly returned, and the young man seemed to have deduced something, speaking while walking:

”We haven’t seen any woman in cotton dresses and hats the vendor described. That paper is definitely hidden by that vendor. When I visited last time, I saw that paper bundle, but on returning, he’ll surely recognize me, so he deliberately put on an act to test us, trying to probe the origin of that paper from our mouths, that’s definitely it! What a cunning Dongyang ghost!”

The young man muttered, eyes aflame, hurrying back, and without watching his step, he directly collided with the old man pushing the wooden cart.

The old man couldn’t maintain balance anymore. As he leaned over on one side, the wooden cart’s jars rolled towards that side, heading toward Huo Sining’s group, who then panicked seeing the porcelain about to fall.

At this point, no one thought about scams anymore, and the three rushed out together, hands extended to stabilize the old man’s pushcart, trying to maintain its balance.

Despite the trio’s quick efforts, three or so porcelain pieces still fell to the ground. The old man placed the cart on the ground, rushed to the front, and with trembling hands picked up the shattered porcelain, heartbroken.

The two Huaxia people were completely unaware. Passing through the old man’s pushcart, they were about to leave without a word of apology.

This infuriated Huo Sining. She had heard many fellow countrymen complain about disrespect for Huaxia people abroad and had been outraged, speaking fervently against those discriminatory countries. But now, seeing the behavior of some fellow countrymen after truly traveling abroad, Huo Sining only felt embarrassed and ashamed.

To gain others’ respect, at the very least you need to have basic manners and courtesy. Even in the Mainland, if you don’t respect others, can you still expect them to treat you well? If you don’t earn face for yourself, no wonder people look down on you!

This made Huo Sining feel embarrassed to be associated with these two Huaxia people. They not only disgraced themselves but all Huaxia people.

Compared to Huo Sining, Song Chaojing was even more fiery. Without hesitation, she directly confronted the two Huaxia people, unhappily exclaiming, ”You just leave after hitting someone? Didn’t your mother teach you basic manners? Can’t you even apologize?”

The young man’s face darkened instantly. He glared at Song Chaojing and then turned around to look at the broken porcelain pieces in the old man’s hand, sneering, ”What, couldn’t scam people in the Mainland anymore, so you’ve come to Dongyang to develop your scam business?!”
