Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 943: Chapter 939: Buying a Painting, Giving Paper

Knowing that there was only one pack of this paper, Huo Sining felt a bit regretful in her heart, but she quickly figured it out. She smiled and said to the owner:

”I bought two paintings from you without bargaining, so how about you give me this paper as a throw-in?”

The owner froze for a moment, about to refuse, but unexpectedly, Huo Sining looked at him with a half-smile:

”This painting has probably been under the pile for quite some time, hasn’t it? Look at how thick the dust on the scroll is. If I don’t buy it, who knows when you’ll be able to sell it next.”

The owner’s expression immediately stiffened, feeling somewhat awkward and embarrassed.

He initially thought he encountered a fool, but it turned out this young lady was quite astute and fully aware of the situation; she just didn’t spell it out.

The owner’s face turned a ghostly pale as he deliberated internally. But upon seeing the stack of paper bills in Huo Sining’s hand, he thought no more.

He had acquired the pack of yellow paper for less than ten thousand Dongyang Currency—worthless really, but if he sold the two paintings, after costs, he could earn four hundred thousand Dongyang Currency. Even if he added the yellow paper as a throw-in, he would still make a huge profit.

This deal was a surefire profit, so the owner certainly wouldn’t refuse. However, he didn’t want to agree too easily, choosing instead to put on an act, first pretending it was difficult and then showing reluctance before finally biting the bullet, agreeing with pain and reluctance, only to appear extremely unwilling:

”Alright, I’ll give it to you. This paper is worth fifty thousand a pack. We get along well, so I’ll let you have it.”

The owner deliberately inflated the price of the paper to make Huo Sining think he was suffering a big loss by giving it away.

But Huo Sining just found it amusing, fifty thousand per pack, uncle, you’re really misjudging this, the paper in this pack might be worth more than all the paintings on your stall combined.

Pretending to be grateful, Huo Sining put the pack of oiled paper into her backpack. She then asked the owner to find a box to pack the two paintings, and only then did she hand over the sixty thousand Dongyang Currency to the owner with a smile.

The silver changed hands, and both sides felt they had hit the jackpot with the deal, but as to who actually cheated whom, perhaps only the individuals themselves truly knew.

With a calm expression, Huo Sining took the box containing the two paintings, turned around, and left with Nara Nigawa. Only when she turned did a sly smile of success involuntarily appear on her face.

Beside her, Nara Nigawa was about to lecture Huo Sining on politics, but when he looked up, he saw the smile on her face, and he froze for a moment.

Just then, two men suddenly appeared behind Huo Sining. One looked about fifty years old, and the other around twenty, both of whom should be Huaxia people, as Huo Sining heard one of them, the younger man, say hurriedly in Chinese: ”It should be here.”

Huo Sining was momentarily stunned, seeing the young man walk straight to the booth selling paintings and start rummaging. After just a few tries, the young man’s expression suddenly changed, urgently grabbing the vendor’s collar and asking, ”Where is the pack of oily paper that was on this stall?”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining felt her heart sink. Ignoring everything else, she turned back, lowered her hat brim, grabbed Nara Nigawa’s arm, and urgently squeezed into the crowd, urging, ”Hurry up!”

Nara Nigawa, although clueless, still followed closely behind Huo Sining, quickly darting into the crowd in a few strides.

At the booth, the two men were still anxiously questioning the vendor in Huaxia language. The vendor, however, couldn’t understand Chinese, and being grabbed by his collar, misunderstood that these two people had bought fake paintings from his stall and were here to make trouble, feeling both humiliated and angry, almost to the point of starting a public fight with them.

Luckily, among the passing tourists, there were some who understood Chinese. After several turns of translation, it was clarified that these two Huaxia men had come specifically to buy the pack of paper from his stall.

The vendor was instantly filled with disbelief, huffily saying to the two Huaxia men, ”You Huaxia people really lack manners! It’s just paper you want to buy, do you have to be so rude? I’ve already sold that paper. If you want to buy it, go ask elsewhere!”

With that, the vendor waved them off impatiently, unwilling to deal with the two any longer.

Upon hearing that the pack of paper had been sold, the two men grew anxious. Even the older man couldn’t care about being accused of lacking manners by this vendor, urgently asking, ”Sold? When, and for how much?”

The vendor hadn’t planned to explain initially, but seeing the two’s anxious faces, he couldn’t bring himself to chase them away, eventually suppressing his impatience and explaining:

”I just sold it for nothing. A young lady bought two paintings from me, and I gave her that pack of paper as a gift. She walked away just before you guys showed up.”

Hearing the vendor’s words translated, the two men were dumbstruck.

Especially the young man, who always had a volatile temper. Learning that the vendor had given the item away for free, his eyes turned red with rage, he looked at the vendor as if seeing an idiot, unable to help but curse, ”You idiot, you sold that pack of paper for nothing? Do you even know that was Jin Silk...”

”Zong Lin!” Seeing the young man almost blurt out, the middle-aged man quickly interrupted him.

The young man realized he had almost misspoken, quickly looking up at the middle-aged man, seeing that the latter looked serious with a hint of displeasure: ”Loose lips sink ships! Speak less!”

The young man was resigned but had to nod, glaring hatefully at the vendor, with rage and resentment flickering in his eyes.

The middle-aged man was more patient than the younger one. Upon hearing that the person who bought the paper had just left, he had a thought, warmly smiling and asking the vendor:

”Brother, may I ask, what does the young lady who bought your paper look like, approximately how old is she, and what clothes and shoes is she wearing, if you remember, could you please let us know?”

The vendor had paid little mind to sending off a pack of paper since he had just sold two long-sitting items and made a fortune, feeling elated. Now, however, seeing these two Huaxia people so relentless over that pack of paper, wanting to inquire about the appearance of the person who bought it, the vendor sensed something unusual, his heart sinking as he secretly wondered if there was something special about that pack of shabby paper after all?
