Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 903: Chapter 899: What Exactly Is It

At Jubao Pavilion, everything in the store was ready. Besides Li Quan, Qiao Zhenhuan, and Jiang Xiaoqin, Li Quan had also found two clever assistants. The store was well-organized, and aside from not being open yet, everything else was done.

As soon as Huo Sining entered, she noticed a space in the center of the store surrounded by four transparent display cabinets. In this space, there was a large glass display cabinet about two meters high.

This was something Huo Sining had instructed Li Quan to prepare in advance. Huo Sining was worried Li Quan might forget, so she rushed back from Changhua to accompany Li Quan to the market to choose the display cabinet.

It turned out Li Quan had prepared it in advance without any reminder, and Huo Sining was very satisfied upon seeing the display cabinet.

Li Quan, on the side, had always been unaware of what Huo Sining was up to. Since she didn’t say, he knew it was pointless to ask, so he didn’t bother.

The day before the opening, Huo Sining pulled out some rather worthless items she had acquired from Antique Street to decorate Jubao Pavilion. Items like Silver Ingots she had retrieved from the seabed, some porcelains, pearls, and gems secretly stashed by the sea turtle. Huo Sining didn’t care for these items, so instead of letting them gather dust, she decided to put them in Jubao Pavilion.

Of course, even though Jubao Pavilion was her store, these items weren’t gifted without charge. Contracts were signed, and they were considered consignment goods. If sold, she would take ninety percent of the profit.

Even with taking ninety percent, these items were enough to surprise Li Quan and Qiao Zhenhuan.

When the new store opened, there were no treasures to draw customers, so Huo Sining’s items greatly enriched the offerings in the store, providing visiting guests with more choices.

Because the new store was opening the next day, the store stayed busy until past eight o’clock before closing. Both store manager Li Quan and the two assistants were excited and nervous. After work, everyone left except Li Quan, who stayed in the accommodation behind the store.

Huo Sining originally left but unexpectedly returned. Li Quan was lying in bed, half asleep, when he suddenly heard sounds from the store. He jerked up, grabbed a flashlight and a self-defense weapon, and cautiously made his way from the accommodation to the store.

With sharp ears and eyes, Huo Sining soon noticed Li Quan’s figure and called out to him: ”What are you sneaking around for? Hurry up and come help!”

Hearing Huo Sining’s familiar voice, Li Quan realized who it was, and his worried heart was at ease. He subconsciously wiped off his cold sweat.

”You startled me! I thought there was a thief in the store. Miss Huo, why did you come back?”

As he spoke, Li Quan was about to turn on the store lights, but Huo Sining glared at him and scolded: ”Don’t turn on the lights!”

Frightened, Li Quan immediately withdrew his hand from the switch. He glanced at Huo Sining, puzzled by her instructions.

”Once the lights are on, everyone outside can see. Don’t turn on the lights; keep it mysterious. Otherwise, everyone will know before tomorrow.”

Although the door of Jubao Pavilion was made of solid wood, to suit the trend, Li Quan had craftsmen install glass in the wooden door during renovations, allowing people outside to see everything inside clearly.

Though it was night, places like Liulichang Dashilan, with their bustling markets, attracted people even at night. If something was happening in the store, it could easily attract attention, which is why Huo Sining cautiously signaled Li Quan not to turn on the lights.

Fortunately, the street lights and other stores’ lights outside shone in, providing enough light to see, though not brightly illuminated, it was adequately visible for what needed to be done.

”Move this thing into the display cabinet. Be careful not to break it, or I will be heartbroken.”

Huo Sining pointed to an object covered with a red silk cloth on the ground, resembling a bonsai, indicating for Li Quan to help move it.

Li Quan nodded, feeling perplexed, yet obediently squatted down. Together, they moved the object into the glass display cabinet.

The cabinet was about two meters high and 1.2 meters wide, while the bonsai was around 1.6 to 1.7 meters tall and three feet wide. It perfectly matched the display cabinet.

Once the item was placed inside, Huo Sining nodded in satisfaction and praised: ”Excellent, this display cabinet fits perfectly, just like it was custom-made.”

Li Quan wanted to ask what the item was, but Huo Sining directly locked the bonsai in the glass cabinet and tossed the key into her backpack with a mysterious smile: ”We’ll reveal the answer tomorrow. If I told you now, it wouldn’t be as intriguing.”

With his curiosity piqued, Li Quan felt restless. He kept looking at the glass display cabinet, eager to see through the silk cloth and uncover what lay beneath.

His thoughts wandered, yet despite his imagination running wild, he couldn’t fathom what was concealed under the silk cloth.

In the end, he returned to the back room in resignation.

Grandma Li heard the commotion and came out to ask him: ”What happened? Who visited just now?”

Li Quan shook his head: ”It was Huo Sining, dropping off something. She’s left now.”

Grandma Li gave Li Quan a reproachful look: ”Since Huo came by, why didn’t you invite her to sit down? We haven’t even invited her over for a meal since moving here.”

Li Quan laughed: ”Grandma, Huo Sining is busy. She’ll soon travel to Dongyang, and has many things to manage. You don’t need to worry; she won’t mind. I remember when we were in S City, she liked your homemade snacks. Dongyang’s food may not suit her palate. If you feel uneasy, why not prepare some snacks for her to take to Dongyang to satisfy her cravings?”

”That’s a good suggestion. Well, I’ve been idle lately, so I’ll make more for her.” Grandma Li nodded repeatedly.

Seeing Grandma Li return to her room, Li Quan finally felt relieved, but as he lay in bed, he couldn’t sleep. His mind kept returning to the object covered by silk in the store. Coupled with the excitement of the store’s opening, his thoughts raced, and he found himself unable to sleep all night.
