Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 938: Chapter 934: Pretending to Be Mysterious

Hearing Huo Sining’s words, Hinata Chinatsu couldn’t help but show a hint of worry in her eyes and quickly asked, ”What’s the matter? Are you going alone? It’s not very safe this late. Do you want me to go with you?”

Huo Sining hurriedly declined with a smile, ”No, no, it’s fine. I have a friend here in Dongdu, and I’m just going to handle something nearby. Don’t worry, the public security around here is quite good. You should head back.”

Hearing this, Hinata Chinatsu knew it would be inappropriate to insist. After all, Huo Sining was going to see a friend, and if it was a girl, fine, but if it was a guy, her tagging along might not be welcome. So, after a brief hesitation, she nodded in agreement.

After sending off Hinata Chinatsu, Huo Sining followed the previous route and arrived again at that convenience store.

During dinner earlier, Huo Sining had subtly gathered quite a bit of information from Hinata Chinatsu, inquiring about the situation of the convenience store’s owner and her son. She learned that the owner’s son lived in an apartment complex opposite the convenience store and often came to the store at night to grab food and drinks, and sometimes even stole money from his mother’s drawer.

After arriving at the convenience store, Huo Sining began her stakeout. The complex opposite was too large for her to inquire about the sleazy guy’s exact address, so she could only squat at the store.

The October nights in Dongdu had gotten chilly. Huo Sining took out a bench, sat in front of the convenience store, and patiently waited for her prey to show up, cloaked in invisibility.

After waiting for a full three hours, Huo Sining was feeling a bit drowsy. She thought she would have waited in vain tonight, but just as she was about to pack up and head back, a skinny man walked out of the apartment complex across the street. He was none other than the sleazy son of the convenience store owner from earlier in the day.

Seeing the newcomer, Huo Sining’s eyes lit up. She hurriedly rummaged through the storage ring for some items and began to disguise her face.

On the other side, Xiaoban Zhengxiong walked unsteadily towards the convenience store. Upon entering, he found that the cashier was a woman in her thirties whom he had never seen before, causing his face to change immediately. He urgently grabbed the new employee and asked, ”Who are you? I’ve never seen you before. Where is Hinata Chinatsu?”

The new employee paused in surprise and quickly explained, ”I just got hired here recently. My name is Yoshida Aso. Sir, is there something I can help you with?”

Xiaoban Zhengxiong wanted to ask more questions, but the female store owner suddenly burst out, tugging Wang Zhengxiong’s ear and started scolding him:

”You still won’t give up, huh? Still thinking about that vixen? Let me tell you, that Hinata Chinatsu was unruly, and I’ve already fired her! You better give up on this. I’m overseeing this store now, and you absolutely can’t keep messing around. If you want to take anything from the store, pay for it first!”

Upon hearing that Hinata Chinatsu was fired, Xiaoban Zhengxiong panicked. Just as he was about to retort, the female shopkeeper said she wouldn’t allow him to take things out anymore. That truly shook Xiaoban Zhengxiong. Forgetting about Hinata Chinatsu’s situation, he hurriedly shouted, ”Mom, you can’t do this...”

The female store owner sneered, ”This store is mine. Why can’t I do this? Don’t you love being with women? Let’s see who will come to you without money!”

Xiaoban Zhengxiong walked out of the convenience store empty-handed and crestfallen. Muttering and cursing as he walked, he hadn’t gone far when he suddenly remembered something and muttered to himself:

”Something’s off. Isn’t Hinata Chinatsu from Sota University? This woman looks pretty good, and I haven’t gotten her yet. I can’t just let her slip away. Tomorrow, I’ll go to Sota University and ask around. I can’t let this woman get away!”

Xiaoban Zhengxiong grinned sleazily, thinking about something unspeakable, with a sinister desire flashing in his eyes.

As he was lost in thought, all of a sudden, a flowerpot fell from a building next to him, landing right beside Xiaoban Zhengxiong’s feet.

Xiaoban Zhengxiong was startled, instinctively looking up at the building, only to see a woman with disheveled hair sitting on a third-floor balcony railing, sticking her tongue out at him.

”Damn it!” Xiaoban Zhengxiong cursed under his breath, unable to resist raising his head and yelling at the woman, ”Have you no decency? Can you just throw flowerpots around? What if you hit someone?”

But upon looking up, he found the balcony was completely empty, not a trace of the woman he saw just a moment ago.

Already angry at having been hit by a flowerpot and previously denied his allowance because of ******, Xiaoban Zhengxiong was simmering with rage. Now, not only did the person who threw the pot not apologize, but they also hid. Filled with fury, Xiaoban Zhengxiong couldn’t hold back any longer. He rushed into the building to find that woman and confront her.

This was an old building. Xiaoban Zhengxiong rushed in angrily without giving much thought, but as he went up, he felt more and more uneasy. The dim hallway was eerie and seemingly long-neglected, having been uninhabited for ages. Only a dim light flickered, and he realized no one seemed to be living there.

Xiaoban Zhengxiong felt a chill down his spine and instinctively wanted to turn back.

Just as he was about to retreat, a door on the third floor creaked open, revealing a woman in white sitting inside the abandoned room, seemingly hunched over, gnawing on something.

Seeing this, Xiaoban Zhengxiong’s courage rose, and he shouted at the woman inside, ”Hey, were you the one who threw the flowerpot? You hit someone, and my foot’s injured now. You better compensate me, or I’ll sue you in court!”

Xiaoban Zhengxiong was a notorious troublemaker, often using excuses to extort others. With a seemingly legitimate reason this time, he was ready to exploit it.

Yet his words elicited no response. The woman remained with her back to him, undistracted as she sat in the chair, ignoring his complaint.

Xiaoban Zhengxiong was enraged, rushing over and slapping the woman’s shoulder, demanding, ”Hey, did you hear me or not? You—”

Before he finished, the disheveled woman he touched slowly raised her head, revealing a horribly disfigured face. Deep eye sockets oozed blood that corroded her pale face while her mouth continued to chew.

Xiaoban Zhengxiong was struck speechless, his gaze dropping to see the woman cradling a skull in her hands, bloodstains streaked across it.

Connecting this sight to what she might be chewing, Xiaoban Zhengxiong turned ghostly pale, instinctively letting out a sharp cry, ”Ghost!” His breaths came in quick gasps, and he fell backward, fainting in horror.
