Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 942: Chapter 938: 300,000 Per Painting

”Yes, I’m sure, just these two. But boss, don’t just randomly shout out prices. I just heard that the price you offered to those tourists was three hundred thousand each, so if you raise the price for me, I won’t buy them.”

Huo Sining nodded to confirm she wanted the two paintings, but she didn’t forget to add a remark to let the vendor know she wasn’t easily fooled.

The vendor was overjoyed when he heard this from Huo Sining.

These two paintings had been with him for over half a year without any interest. Because they lacked a signature, it was impossible to tell who painted them, making collectors uninterested. Upon seeing the lack of an artist’s seal, they all shook their heads.

Having the paintings sit unsold was a headache for the vendor, so he would push these two paintings to any young rookie he encountered. It’s a pity none of them took the bait, and just when the vendor thought they would be left to rot in his hands, a fool showed up willing to buy them.

Someone willing to buy these two paintings was a blessing. His stall typically sold paintings openly displayed for around three hundred thousand, but since someone was finally interested in these two, he dared not ask for a high price.

He originally planned to sell the two paintings for two hundred thousand, but never expected that girl across from him to not recognize their worth. Her words exposed her thoughts.

As a businessman, the vendor was naturally shrewd. From Huo Sining’s words, he perceived that her internal price was three hundred thousand, assuming these two paintings were the same price as those on the stall.

Merchants are cunning and would be foolish not to make money, so the vendor quickly seized the opportunity, following Huo Sining’s lead and said with a smile:

”I conduct honest business with clearly marked prices. If I said three hundred thousand per painting, then it’s definitely three hundred thousand each, no second price. I wonder if the young lady will pay in cash or by transfer?”

”Cash.” Huo Sining swung her backpack around and pretended to take out money from it, but actually pulled out a wad of cash from the storage ring.

Seeing the thick wad of Dongyang currency in Huo Sining’s hand, the vendor was thrilled, his eyes fixed intently on the money.

Nara Nigawa, standing to the side, frowned secretly, looking at Huo Sining with disapproval.

His disapproval wasn’t because a young girl carrying so much cash was unsafe. In fact, Dongyang people are indeed a level above Huaxia people in this regard. There are few pickpockets in Dongyang, and even if money is displayed openly, no one would steal it.

Nara Nigawa disapproved because he could tell the vendor was bluffing and those bottom-reserve paintings were unsellable goods.

Moreover, Nara Nigawa saw that the paintings on the stall were all forgeries and not worth that much money. However, for those two paintings the vendor took out, Huo Sining agreed to buy them without even looking at them, which made Nara Nigawa disapprove, thinking Huo Sining was wasted her money.

Huo Sining’s thoughtless and generous attitude made Nara Nigawa suspicious. He started to doubt whether agreeing to accompany Huo Sining on a tour of Dongyang’s Forty-three Prefectures was a mistake. At her spending rate, they might not finish the tour before she squandered all her money.

Nara Nigawa had a solemn expression, deciding that after this transaction, he must have a serious talk with Huo Sining. If she couldn’t restrain her purchasing desire, he wouldn’t accompany her further.

Huo Sining had no idea about the guide standing next to her was thinking all this. At the moment, she was focused on the oil paper package. Seeing the vendor’s eyes glued to the money in her hand, she was not annoyed, carefully counting out sixty thousand, and handed the wad of cash to the vendor.

Seeing this, the vendor eagerly reached out to take the money.

Just when the money was about to reach the vendor’s hands, Huo Sining suddenly exclaimed, ”Oh no,” and withdrew her hand quickly.

The vendor grabbed at nothing and, hearing her exclamation, his heart sank. He thought, ”Oh no, has the girl realized something and now wants to back out? What to do? I’ve finally managed to sell these paintings, and now she’s backing out. Is the deal going to fall through?”

The vendor immediately looked anxious, with a hint of shame and urgency in his eyes as he looked at Huo Sining: ”Miss, we’ve already agreed. You wouldn’t want to back out at the last minute, would you?”

Huo Sining raised her head and looked at the vendor, confused and innocent: ”Back out? No, I’m not.”

The vendor continued to stare at Huo Sining: ”Then what was the ’oh no’ for?”

Huo Sining then seemed to realize, smiling: ”You misunderstood. I’m not backing out. I just remembered I still need to buy drawing paper. Our teacher assigned us homework, and we need to complete an independent painting today. I’m buying your painting to copy it, but if I don’t buy drawing paper, it won’t work. Do you know any stalls on this street that sell drawing paper?”

Nara Nigawa was dumbfounded, puzzled. Wasn’t Huo Sining an exchange student, supposedly studying bioengineering? How could their teacher assign painting homework? This was too strange!

The vendor, however, believed her words were true. Hearing Huo Sining, he assumed she was studying art and smiled:

”I was wondering why such a young girl would like these ancient paintings. Turns out, it’s for copying. You really asked the right person. I don’t have anything else, but I happen to have a pack of drawing paper. I collected this drawing paper from somewhere else. If you want it, I’ll sell it to you cheaply.”

With that, the vendor took out the pack of oiled paper, pulling out the yellow sheets inside: ”This is authentic xuan paper, perfect for copying ancient paintings.”

Huo Sining took the drawing paper, pretending to flip through it while nonchalantly asking, ”Is there only this one pack? Do you have any more?”

The vendor, hearing Huo Sining’s question, thought she was displeased with the paper’s quality, and sheepishly said, ”No more, I only brought this one pack. The rest are at home. I brought this one to see if anyone would buy it.”

Upon seeing the vendor’s hedging demeanor, Huo Sining knew he was lying. It seemed like he happened upon this pack of paper by chance, and it was the only one.

But then again, this wasn’t ordinary xuan paper. Finding one pack was already fortunate. If there were too many, it would become worthless.
