Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 915: Chapter 911: An Indelible Identity

”I also think it looks real, the rust and the carvings on the sheath are genuine, and the price is right.”

Another boy answered softly, and from his eyes, you could tell he was slightly overwhelmed with excitement and joy.

They were speaking in Chinese, and Huo Sining listened clearly from the side, involuntarily raising her eyebrow and instinctively looking towards them.

These two were holding a Dongyang sword, different from the swords hanging on the rack on the wall. This Dongyang sword had heavy rust, and at a glance, it seemed to evoke the cries of horses and the clash of swords on the battlefield, a sense of historical weight coming straight at you.

The shop owner beside them heard them speaking Chinese, but he wasn’t annoyed and continued saying, ”You two have sharp eyes, clearly experts. I’m not going to lie to you, I’ll tell you the truth. Most of my shop sells replica ancient swords, they may look good, but they’re fake. But the items on these racks are genuine.”

Huo Sining didn’t understand the long string of Dongyang speech nearby, but the couple obviously did, and they looked at the object in their hands even more eagerly.

Nara Nigawa beside them had a somewhat peculiar expression, looking like he wanted to say something but held back. Huo Sining immediately felt curious and couldn’t help but quietly ask Nara Nigawa, ”What did the shop owner just say?”

Nara Nigawa withdrew his gaze and explained the shop owner’s words one by one.

Huo Sining had wandered around Antique Street in Mainland before, and many shop owners there would say similar things to entice buyers. Although she had some expertise in antique appraisal, she dared not easily determine the authenticity of the shop owner’s words.

Huo Sining instinctively looked at the sword in the hands of the two again; it was a classic Dongyang katana, the length with the hilt was almost one and a half meters long, standing upright from the ground, reaching directly to Huo Sining’s shoulder.

The katana’s surface was inlaid with luxurious ornaments, and even the scabbard clasp was pure silver. On one side of the sheath, a samurai figure was carved; the other side depicted birds, flowers, fish, and insects. These images were quite blurred, as if often handled, worn to the point of being indistinguishable.

From the style of this katana, it should be a product from the fifteenth century, during Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s time. If genuine, having been preserved for five to six hundred years, its value would naturally be noteworthy.

However, antique appraisal isn’t just about looking with eyes to determine authenticity. Without handling it, even if it appears real, one cannot feel the object’s inherent heavy sense of historical change. Therefore, whether this sword is genuine, Huo Sining dared not be certain.

Yet the shop owner’s words made these two young people very tempted, evidently already deciding to buy the sword.

Nara Nigawa, standing beside Huo Sining, who had been restrained and silent, suddenly stepped forward and abruptly interjected, ”Are you two Huaxia people?”

Nara Nigawa had heard the pair speaking in Chinese earlier but hadn’t interrupted them. Now, he suddenly charged forward, which made Huo Sining feel very strange and couldn’t help but glance at Nara Nigawa several times.

As a result of this look, Huo Sining became even more puzzled.

From Nara Nigawa’s eyes, Huo Sining clearly saw tension and anxiety.

Tension, anxiety? Huo Sining thought she had seen incorrectly and couldn’t help but look again, only then confirming she hadn’t mistaken.

But, why would Nara Nigawa be tense and anxious?

Huo Sining’s gaze fell on the katana once more, pondering whether there was a problem with the sword.

At this moment, the young couple who heard Nara Nigawa’s question suddenly turned pale, swiftly drawing the katana a few inches out, instantly a gleam flashed into Huo Sining’s eyes.

The blade was carved with dark patterns, looking extremely delicate. Just as Huo Sining intended to take a closer look, the woman promptly reinserted the sword back into the sheath, yet her eyes ominously fixed on Nara Nigawa, sharply replying:

”We’re Luli People, we have nothing to do with those disgusting Mainland yokels!”

Nara Nigawa, hearing this, instinctively turned his head to look towards Huo Sining, his expression somewhat embarrassed.

Huo Sining was also stunned, and she looked at this young couple, her gaze sinking.

Yet those two were still unaware of themselves, seeing Nara Nigawa also asked in Chinese, they then held a suspicious and disdainful gaze towards Nara Nigawa: ”Are you Huaxia?”

Nara Nigawa shook his head, ”I’m a local.”

The two young lovers, who were originally glaring at Nara Nigawa, instantly softened their gaze, their expressions changing from dark to bright, and laughingly nodded, ”I told you, looking at your attire, how could you be a China dog.”

Inside, Huo Sining couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. Usually she just heard people say Luli there ”reject Huaxia, flatter Dongyang,” and she just laughed it off, forgot it after hearing it. But seeing it now with her own eyes, she felt a surge of anger rising within her.

No matter what the Luli People ultimately want, personal political stance, she, Huo Sining, neither wants to correct nor debate right or wrong. But these two freely utter ”disgusting yokels” and ”China dogs,” such remarks make it impossible to swallow this anger.

”Writing in Chinese, speaking in Chinese, yet claiming you’re not Huaxia offspring, don’t you find your actions ridiculous, a denial of your roots?” Huo Sining looked at them with a laugh, her gaze devoid of any warmth.

The couple froze, exchanged glances, and their gaze towards Huo Sining immediately changed, the young woman’s face sank, her voice growing sharper: ”Yokel, what did you say?!”

Huo Sining smiled faintly, ”Why lie to yourselves? Your self-satisfied identity as Luli People isn’t something Mainland people care about or desire, Huaxia’s future doesn’t lie in Luli, nor in licking foreign boots.”

”We wear rags but we made atomic and hydrogen bombs; we squat in pits but we launched rockets and manned spaceships; we break world records with mud-stained hands; we consume bran and wild vegetables yet reclaim Olympic gold medals. Forty years ago, our Huaxia mainland lagged western two hundred years, forty years later, who dares to say Huaxia isn’t comparable to the world?”

”In contrast, you Luli People, what do you have? On what grounds do you look down on Mainland people?”

”A nation’s rise and fall, honor and disgrace, are inevitable, like the sun, no matter where you hide on this earth, you’ll inevitably be illuminated. Even if you refuse to acknowledge, you utterly cannot erase the identity of Huaxia offspring because the blood flowing in you is of the yellow race.”

”Not acknowledging your own nation means you can only be slaves to foreigners. Even if you kneel to Old America, what’s the use? Even if you change nationality, you’ll still carry the label of a Chinese-American, unable to escape for three or five million days yesterday, today, or in the future!”
