Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 945: Chapter 941: Meeting an Old Acquaintance in a Foreign Land

Despite the rules of the Antique Street stating that once a deal is done there’s no going back, this isn’t within Huaxia, and Huo Sining wasn’t sure if Dongyang had such rules.

So Huo Sining thought it best to follow the maxim ”the best defense is a good offense,” after snagging a bargain, she decided to slip away quietly.

After walking a few dozen meters, she couldn’t see the painting stall anymore. Huo Sining’s heart finally settled down, and she began to focus on her stroll.

As she was looking around for other things to see, a girl was walking towards her, sipping juice from a cup in her hand. Neither seemed to be looking at the road, and they collided directly.

Huo Sining exclaimed, but didn’t have time to react before the girl’s iced drink spilled. A whole cup of juice splashed onto Huo Sining’s skirt, soaking a large patch and almost becoming revealing.

Without time to look up, the girl opposite was taken aback, quickly digging out tissues from her backpack and crouching beside Huo Sining, dabbing at her skirt while apologizing repeatedly, ”Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to, sorry!”

The girl, flustered, forgot she was in Dongyang and blurted out Xiangjiang dialect. Though Huo Sining was initially a bit upset, hearing the familiar voice and dialect made her pause and, reflexively, look up, freezing in surprise at what she saw.

The other girl was also taken aback. The atmosphere paused for half a second before the girl hesitantly asked, ”Are you... Huo Sining?”

Huo Sining laughed, nodding openly and stretching her arms towards her, saying, ”Ah Jing, long time no see!”

The girl let out a sharp scream and threw herself into Huo Sining’s arms, giving her a big hug and laughing, ”Huo Sining, what are you doing here? My gosh, it’s really you. I almost didn’t recognize you! How come just a few months have passed, and you seem so changed that I almost didn’t know it was you!”

This chance encounter wasn’t just anyone, it was Song Lifeng’s youngest daughter, Song Chaojing.

Huo Sining was also surprised to run into Song Chaojing here, but now wasn’t the time to reminisce. Looking at her soaked skirt, Huo Sining felt a bit helpless and said to Song Chaojing, ”Wait for me here, I need to fix this first.”

Huo Sining pointed at her large wet patch on the skirt, smiled, glanced around, and spotted a nearby public restroom, turning to head towards it.

Song Chaojing cheekily stuck her tongue out at Huo Sining’s back before noticing that someone was standing next to Huo Sining.

”Who are you?” Song Chaojing asked, eyeing Nara Nigawa curiously, realizing he wasn’t Gu Xu, Ouyang Jun, who accompanied Huo Sining to gamble on the high seas before, but rather a stranger, sparking her curiosity.

Nara Nigawa quickly introduced himself, ”Hello, I’m Huo Jun’s friend, my name is Nara Nigawa.”

Song Chaojing paused, ”Are you a Dongyang person?”

Nara Nigawa nodded, ”Yes.”

Nara Nigawa thought this might be another anti-Japanese person, feeling a bit tense, considering whether to explain his mother was Huaxia, giving him half Huaxia heritage.

He truly regarded Huo Sining as a friend and didn’t want Huo Sining’s friends to reject him because of his identity.

But unexpectedly, Song Chaojing, after staring at him for a few seconds, suddenly said, ”Your Mandarin is pretty good, even better than mine, how did you learn it?”

Nara Nigawa was caught off-guard, wondering how this girl didn’t act as expected.

While contemplating whether to explain, Huo Sining emerged from the public restroom, and in a flash, she changed her outfit. Shopping should never be done in a skirt; having been splashed by Song Chaojing, she dared not wear a skirt again. She simply changed to a shirt and denim overalls, still carrying a backpack and wearing a hat but looking fresher and younger.

Song Chaojing also wore a denim jacket and casual pants. With Huo Sining dressed like this standing before Song Chaojing, they appeared to be of similar age, seemingly without an age difference.

Seeing Huo Sining’s outfit, Song Chaojing was delighted, pulling Huo Sining for a closer look, chuckling, ”This way, I seem like the older sister, haha, this is great, we’re like twin pals!”

Huo Sining had dressed following Song Chaojing, fortunate to have plenty of clothing prepared in her storage ring; otherwise, she’d have had to walk around in her soaked skirt, which would be utterly embarrassing.

”You’re lucky; if I didn’t have a change of clothes in my bag, I’d be so embarrassed because of your mess.”

Huo Sining tapped Song Chaojing’s forehead, speaking gently despite her words.

Thinking about it, since she last parted with Song Chaojing in Xiangjiang, it’s been almost six months without seeing Song Chaojing.

Though the high-seas gambling memory was not very pleasant, especially with Ye Xiang’s impression not being very favorable, the Song sisters were quite likable to Huo Sining. She really liked the Song sisters, but their entirely different backgrounds made Huo Sining acutely aware that her interaction with the Song sisters was limited to this.

Unable to be friends with the Song sisters, Huo Sining found it quite regrettable. Surprisingly, she encountered Song Chaojing in this foreign land, alone in Dongyang, suddenly meeting an old acquaintance, and Huo Sining was naturally pleased.

”Why are you shopping alone here? Is there no one with you? What brings you to Dongyang?”

Huo Sining asked curiously, her gaze unwittingly revealing concern. The girl was only seventeen, an underage teenager, quite bold.

Song Chaojing casually explained, ”This isn’t my first time in Dongyang; I’m quite familiar with this place. Besides, I’m not alone; I came here with my seventh brother.”

”Your seventh brother? Song Xiaochen also came?” Huo Sining was surprised, suddenly remembering something Ouyang Jun had mentioned earlier.

”Yes, you should know better than I do. My brother came to Dongyang concerning the machinery—”

At this point, Song Chaojing realized something, glancing at Nara Nigawa standing nearby, deliberately avoiding him, whispering:

”You gambled against my seventh brother before and won. He signed a cooperation project with your two friends, but I heard the project was forced to a halt due to machinery issues. The machines were blocked by Dongyang people, making it impossible to ship them back. My brother came here to solve this, didn’t you know?”
