The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu counted the silver notes three times, and after confirming there was no mistake, she collapsed onto the chair, her smile growing larger.

After a while, she said to Ying Xi, ”Go and call Brother Daniu over.”

”Yes.”

Daniu was checking inventory in the warehouse, wearing not much despite the cold weather. When he arrived, he was obviously running, with some sweat on his forehead.

”Yu, why are you looking for me?” Daniu sat down, poured himself a cup of tea, and drank it down.

Shu Yu smiled sweetly, waiting until he finished catching his breath before handing him the ledger, ”Take a look.”

Daniu was surprised; there were several thick ledgers on the table, and he naturally couldn’t read them all. Seeing Shu Yu’s expression, he paused for a moment, took the topmost and flipped to the last page, where he saw the total sum.

”Whoa.” He widened his eyes in astonishment, ”So much?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Business has been good this year. I wasn’t home at the end of last year, didn’t settle the accounts, nor distributed the profits. Let’s divide the profits from the past two years all together now, and you’ll take yours home later.”

Daniu chuckled, ”Actually, there’s no rush.”

”That’s not right; after I checked the accounts mid-year when I came back, the money should have been distributed. But at that time, the shop in Changjin Prefecture had just opened, we were forming a convoy, expanding the workshop, and the Capital’s Passion Fruit Shop hadn’t settled yet. So I decided to wait until the end of the year; another half month until New Year, and with money in hand, you can buy whatever you want.”

As Shu Yu spoke, she began writing on paper, ”There’s quite a bit of money on the account now, but after the New Year, I need to go to the Capital, planning to open a shop there, which was our initial plan. So we need to reserve costs for that first.”

Daniu nodded; he knew Shu Yu always had a three-year plan to open a shop in the Capital within three years.

Just in time, Yunzheng will participate in the Imperial Examination after the New Year; if he becomes the top scorer, it’s the best timing to capitalize on the hype.

However, Daniu was still a bit worried, ”About the Passion Fruit Shop in the Capital, they might...”

”We’ve given them three years ahead of time to sell first. There’s no way we can refrain from entering the Capital forever just because they’re selling melon seeds. How can the vast Capital be served by only one Passion Fruit Shop? Moreover, we’re not just selling melon seeds, but also sunflower oil and Instant Noodles, which might be what the Capital residents need the most.”

Back when partnering with the Passion Fruit Shop, she mentioned, there wouldn’t be an exclusive selling agreement.

It’s already a benefit for the Passion Fruit Shop to have no competitors for three years.

Hearing this, Daniu understood Shu Yu had it calculated, ”Opening a shop in the Capital probably needs quite a bit of money. I heard that even the slightly better locations have very expensive shopfronts; this money should be reserved.”

”Hmm.” Shu Yu’s reserved price is 10,000 taels; she noticed last time in the Capital that a larger, better double-story shop costs about three to four thousand taels.

If it’s in the very central location, possibly a bit more would be required.

The 10,000 taels cover stock, hiring, repairs or other miscellaneous expenses, it would definitely be enough.

”Besides, over the past two years, whether the steward, shopkeeper, or staff, everyone has been working hard and diligently. It’s the end of the year, so preparing a bonus for them to enjoy a good New Year.”
