The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Ms. Lou, having received Shu Yu’s promise, felt her eyes slightly warm and nodded heavily.

Then, she watched Shu Yu and the others leave the room, and as they were about to exit the courtyard, hurriedly whispered, ”If there’s anything else you need my help with, the county magistrate can feel free to reach out to me.”

”Understood.”

Taking advantage of the night, the three of them quickly reached the land at the foot of the mountain. Ruan Chengqian was very familiar with Ruan Family Village and was clear about the ownership of the land.

The land belonging to Ruan Jinqian was the closest at the foot of the mountain, and further up, one had to enter the mountain.

The night was hazy, making it difficult for Shu Yu and the group to see anything, especially since the incident had occurred more than half a month ago and there had been rain in between, any traces would have been covered.

After circling the area twice, Shu Yu suddenly stopped and looked at the mountain ahead.

”Don’t you think, if Ruan Kewei really committed murder and buried the body, the burial site wouldn’t be too far away? According to what Ms. Lou said, even if the burial occurred after nightfall, there might still be people outside moving around, and if Ruan Kewei didn’t deal with it nearby, he risked being discovered.”

Moreover, the area nearby is mountainous, making the terrain very advantageous.

Ruan Chengqian nodded, ”Right, Ms. Lou also mentioned they returned at dawn. At that time, with the tight schedule to dig a pit, bury, and handle the aftermath, it’s unlikely they transported the body far away.”

Therefore...

Ruan Chengqian’s eyes brightened, ”It might have been buried on the nearby mountain.”

”All this is just our speculation, assuming Ruan Kewei indeed committed the murder. But it’s too late now, and we can’t see anything, which is inconvenient. Here’s the plan, after Old Lady Ruan is buried tomorrow, I’ll find an excuse to visit Ruan Hai’s house to stall him, then you can go up the mountain to see if there’s any abnormal place.”

Ruan Chengqian immediately nodded, ”Okay, leave that to me.”

”Will Old Lady Ruan take this path to the mountain tomorrow?”

”No, there’s no road around here to go up the mountain. It’s not easy to traverse.”

I see, so the burial wouldn’t be easy to discover.

With understanding, Shu Yu, along with Ruan Chengqian and Ying Xi, returned to the village.

With all the hustle and bustle, it was already dawn. When the three arrived at the entrance to the Ruan family, the two villagers who had been watching Shu Yu were already asleep against the wall corner.

Seeing this, they avoided disturbing the neighbor’s dogs and silently climbed over the wall, returning to the Ruan residence.

Ruan Chengchun and the others did not sleep, nor did they dare to light a lamp, just waited in the dark for them to return.

Upon hearing the sound, the three immediately came out to greet them.

”How did it go?”

”We gained some insights,” Ruan Chengqian said, ”I’ll explain it slowly later. It’s late, let the county magistrate rest first. Tomorrow at 5 a.m, Old Lady Ruan’s funeral takes place, and the county magistrate will accompany the procession to the mountain.”

The Zhang Clan and Ms. Wang immediately prepared water for Shu Yu to wash up.

With about six hours until 5 a.m, though the funeral procession leaves from the house at 5, Shu Yu should arrive by around 5:30. All in all, she could sleep for about five hours.

Luckily, there’s some distance from here to the Ruan family’s house; otherwise, if they start making noise at 4:30, she wouldn’t sleep peacefully.

The next day, as the sky was still dim, Shu Yu got up.

She calmly tidied herself up, ate her meal, gave Ruan Chengqian some instructions, and set off with Ying Xi to Old Lady Ruan’s house.
