The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

The parents of the Cao family were utterly disappointed with Cao Jiang, often expressing harsh words wishing his misfortune, but upon learning of his true demise, they were immensely grieved. When they heard the news and arrived, they were in a daze.

The constables took them up the mountain. When they confirmed that the body was indeed Cao Jiang, the Cao family nearly fainted.

Constable Jiang asked them a few questions, but the Cao family knew little, only stating that they hadn’t seen him for over half a month. As for where he went or whom he met before his disappearance, they were genuinely clueless.

Constable Jiang led the constables in a search nearby, but found no more clues, so they had Cai Jiang’s body brought up, and everyone headed directly down the mountain.

With Shu Yu present, Ruan Hai’s plan to incite the villagers to cause destruction failed, and the intention to frame Ruan Jinqian had to be temporarily put on hold.

Upon seeing Constable Jiang and the others come out, Ruan Hai hurriedly asked, ”How is it? Did you find out who harmed Cao Jiang?”

Constable Jiang glanced at him sideways, ”It’s still unclear. We will now return Cao Jiang’s body to the county office. After the forensic doctor completes the examination, the investigation will continue.”

Afterwards, he took Cao Jiang’s body, the parents and family of Cao Jiang, along with the ’provider’ of the murder weapon, Ruan Jinqian, and the first witness, Ruan Chengqian, back to the Office.

As the village chief, Ruan Hai naturally had to follow along.

After all, he wanted to monitor the progress of the case at the first opportunity, fearing any accidents might arise during this time.

A few elders at the foot of the mountain discussed it, and had two clever young lads from the village and an elder sit in Ruan Hai’s mule carriage as the group headed toward the county town.

With a murder case in the Ruan Family Village, others lost interest in continuing their business endeavors. Shu Yu and Daniu both agreed to discuss planting sunflowers only once the case was thoroughly resolved.

Consequently, they also boarded the carriage and returned.

It wasn’t until sitting in the carriage that Shu Yu looked at Ying Xi, ”How is Ruan Kewei doing over there?”

”Ruan Kewei escaped the village. Constable He is already watching from behind; do not worry, Miss.” Ying Xi discreetly withdrew from the crowd when Ruan Chengqian came over to report the discovery of the body, and went directly to Ruan Hai’s house.

Sure enough, shortly after, Ruan Hai sent someone to report back, and upon hearing the news, Ruan Kewei was scared to death, immediately packing his things and starting to flee.

Ying Xi followed behind him, saw him leave the village, and gave a signal to Constable He who had been stationed outside the village entrance just in case.

Regarding the murder case in the Ruan Family Village, Ying Xi, upon returning, explained the cause and effect to Lord Xie. Although capturing and trying people requires evidence, Ruan Kewei can only be a suspect. He might have been fine if he stayed put, but he fled at the first hint of news. Isn’t that guilty flight from crime?

Once Constable He caught up with Ruan Kewei, Ying Xi returned to the village, and near the foot of the mountain, saw Ruan Jinqian panicked and fleeing after being frightened by Ruan Hai. She seized the opportunity to bring him back.

Ying Xi was still somewhat puzzled, ”Miss, I’m afraid this case will take a few days to investigate thoroughly. During this time, could Ruan Hai possibly cause more trouble?”

”Regardless of whether he causes more trouble, his hasty rush to let Ruan Kewei escape is his worst move. He will regret it.”

Ying Xi didn’t understand, and Daniu in the same carriage looked equally confused.

Shu Yu just smiled, ”You’ll find out soon enough.”
