The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Of course, while Ruan Chengqian becoming the village chief was something Shu Yu was pleased to see, she wouldn’t make things convenient for all the villagers of Ruan Family Village because of it.

Even though Ruan Hai was no longer around, there were indeed quite a few people who used to follow him and act as his accomplices.

Not to mention, just look at the previous situation of Mrs. Xiang and Ruan Chengqian’s family.

Shu Yu was no fool. She had said before that cooperation was fine, but it was not for everyone.

With several elders of the Ruan Family Village keeping watch, the others didn’t dare to say much.

Once the matters were settled, Shu Yu stopped managing the later issues.

Old Lady Ruan passed away, and after this incident, the Ruan brothers didn’t dare to target Madam Ruan anymore.

Although there was no evidence showing that the fate of Ruan Hai and his sons was related to Shu Yu, the Ruan brothers just felt that anyone who encountered her had a poor outcome. Especially now that many villagers were speaking up for Shu Yu, the Ruan brothers could only keep a low profile and go about their daily lives.

Madam Ruan did encounter the two brothers later, but one was in a carriage and the other outside. Madam Ruan didn’t greet them, and they didn’t dare approach her.

Time flew by and quickly reached mid-October.

Just when Shu Yu thought Meng Yunzheng wouldn’t be back for another half month, he suddenly appeared, dusty and travel-worn, at the Lu family’s gate that evening.

It had been a year. This time last year, upon hearing about the events in Chenggu County, he and Shu Yu rushed back to the Meng family, and hadn’t returned since.

Now, a year later, he had gone from being a Scholar to becoming a Mr. Scholarly Man.

”Young Master Meng is back...” The gatekeeper’s voice quickly echoed through the Lu family home, causing the Lu family, who were having dinner, to excitedly jump to their feet.

The old lady was the first to react and immediately urged Shurui, ”Ah Rui, quick, quick, grab the firecrackers.”

”Ah, right, I’ll get them.”

Shurui quickly ran back to the room and fetched the firecrackers that had been prepared earlier.

Ah Ning also dashed back to the storeroom to get the pre-cut ribbons and petals.

Little Song Le was so excited he leaped to his feet and dashed outside.

Zhao Xi, who was having dinner at the Lu family, tossed his chopsticks aside and ran out, picking up Little Song Le along the way.

Shu Yu, on the other hand, watched her family bustling around and couldn’t help but laugh. She picked up Little Huohuo and walked leisurely to the door, ”Come on, let’s go see your future uncle.”

”Uncle?”

Meng Yunzheng stepped inside the door, and just as he turned past the screen wall, he saw Zhao Xi and Little Song Le rushing towards him. He looked up intending to speak when Zhao Xi suddenly pushed him outside.

Meng Yunzheng looked baffled, ”...” What was going on? Why wasn’t he allowed inside?

Zhao Xi pushed him all the way to the entrance before stopping, ”Stand here, stand here, don’t go in yet.”

Meng Yunzheng was even more confused. Xia Yan, next to him, looked puzzled, ”Young Master Zhao, what are you doing? We’ve rushed back, and once we entered the city, we came here. Why are you blocking the door?”

Zhao Xi ignored him and instead spoke to Meng Pei and Uncle Yan, who had returned together, ”Uncle Meng, you all can go in first.”

Meng Pei chuckled, ”Looks like I get the special treatment, huh.”

He didn’t pay any attention to his son and led Uncle Yan inside first.

Before long, Shurui and Ah Ning came out huffing and puffing.

Shurui placed the firecrackers on the ground and lit them, while Ah Ning, along with Ying Xi and others, scattered petals and ribbons over Meng Yunzheng.

The Lu family cheerfully, amid the sound of firecrackers, shouted loudly, ”Welcome home, Master Top Scorer!”
