The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1248: Chapter 1248: Distant Nephew

Shu Yu nodded, “Sure, then tell me, what’s the situation with the man?”

“Lord Yu said he’s a distant nephew, not very closely related, and they don’t have much contact day-to-day, but that young man is quite decent.”

The distant nephew of Lord Yu is named Yu Fenglin, nineteen years old this year, having lost both parents, and he owns a blacksmith shop in the county town.

He’s hardworking and diligent. Even though he’s only nineteen, he runs the blacksmith shop quite well.

Lord Yu said, even though Yu Fenglin is his nephew, with Lord Yu’s considerable wealth and without children, many nephews, near and far, wish to be adopted by him in the Yu family.

Yet this Yu Fenglin not only doesn’t have such thoughts, but he hasn’t even sought help from Lord Yu.

His mother died early, and his father passed away when he was fourteen. The difficulties Yu Fenglin faced then were imaginable, and the blacksmith shop almost couldn’t continue.

It’s not that he didn’t think of seeking Lord Yu’s help, but he contemplated how he could sustain himself in the future if he relied on others at every difficulty. So, he decided to persist on his own, and with his persistence, the blacksmith shop was successfully established.

Later, someone introduced him to potential brides, but many people were wary due to his parents both being deceased, so the suggested matches were often not ideal.

Even when there were good girls, they were mostly attracted to the prospect of his income from the blacksmith shop.

Yu Fenglin wasn’t in a rush; he was content to live his life well on his own.

Initially, Lord Yu had forgotten about this nephew. It wasn’t until recently, when he planned to go to the prefecture and found that his horse’s shoes needed replacing, that he was introduced to this blacksmith shop. He hadn’t known the young blacksmith was his own nephew.

Since adopting twins, Lord Yu’s temperament had become much calmer and more patient.

The person was his junior, so while watching him smithing, he took the opportunity to chat and inquire about his current situation.

Through this inquiry, Lord Yu discovered he hadn’t yet married.

Lord Yu developed an idea and told him, “Since your parents are no longer here, and as your elder, I’ll keep an eye out for a good girl for you.”

Yu Fenglin just agreed naively. He was indeed at the age where, if the right girl came along, he wouldn’t be against settling down.

Lord Yu hadn’t initially thought of Lanhua, but later, upon hearing about Shu’s betrothal, he suddenly remembered that the Lu family had a girl a few months younger than Shu Yu.

Lord Yu didn’t approach this matter recklessly; he first inquired about Lanhua.

That girl—although a bit vain—is very diligent, supports herself with her own abilities, and is much stronger than the average girl.

So, Lord Yu took advantage of such an occasion to bring it up with the old lady.

It’s just that…

The old lady frowned, “There’s something not quite right.”

“What’s not right?”

“I heard from Lord Yu that Yu Fenglin is tall and sturdy, with a somewhat fierce appearance. I can imagine that without some strength and build, you can’t run a blacksmith shop, right? But if he’s too fierce-looking, Lanhua probably wouldn’t be keen.”

Shu Yu thought of Lanhua’s personality, hmm… she’s a girl who loves to dress up and definitely has a penchant for looks.

Lanhua’s last betrothed, Ge Qifei, although his character wasn’t great, his appearance indeed was. Madam Li probably knew something of her preferences when she was choosing for Lanhua.
