The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1229: Chapter 1229: The Reason for the Late Return

Unexpectedly, Ying Xi actually nodded and then said somewhat nervously, “Yes, it is Yao An and his sister and Wang Jiayi.”

Shu Yu frowned, “They’ve returned from the capital?”

“Yes.” Ying Xi nodded, “I saw that Yao An’s injuries seem to have improved somewhat, but he still walks with a limp. I’m not sure if it’s because of the medicine Doctor Zhao used last time or because he rushed home before fully recovering. Anyway, all three of them have become noticeably thinner.”

Shu Yu recalled the time when she saw the exorbitant prices at the Yao Family’s inn in Huajiang Prefecture and wrote to Yao Tianqin about it.

She wondered if her letter had any effect, or if Yao Tianqin had already intended to send Yao An and his sister back.

Ying Xi said, “Young Master Meng doesn’t know the Yao siblings, so he didn’t pay attention to them at first, and I didn’t dare to mention them. But then Yao An himself started ranting and mentioned the lady’s name in his words.”

At the time, Meng Yunzheng and his party had already finished their business and were having lunch at a restaurant in the prefecture before setting off to return to Jiangyuan County.

But as they exited the city, they passed by the inn owned by the Yao Family.

Meng Yunzheng thought of the letter Shu Yu sent to Yao Tianqin and wondered if the other party had taken any action after receiving it and whether the prices had been lowered.

Since they were passing by, he went in to take a look so he could give Shu Yu a definite answer when he returned.

Meng Yunzheng asked the others to wait outside for a moment and went in alone to take a look.

The prices had indeed dropped, and not only that, but the fast-rotating model on the counter had been replaced with a god of wealth, and the shopkeeper’s demeanor was worlds apart from what it was the last time.

Meng Yunzheng was satisfied and was about to leave.

At that moment, Yao An and his group came in, having just disembarked from the boat.

The Yao Family had sent servants to meet them at the dock, but unexpectedly, it was his half-brother who came.

The half-brother kept blaming him along the way, saying he caused trouble in the capital, not only harming himself but also bringing disaster to the family, leading to the inn business plummeting with not a single customer.

Yao An almost kicked his half-brother out of the carriage. He was in disbelief, thinking that Yao Tianqin’s nature wouldn’t lead to such drastic measures. So the carriage took a detour to the inn’s entrance.

After getting out of the carriage, Yao An saw the empty inn and could no longer restrain himself from cursing.

He cursed not only the entire Yao Family but also rained down insults on Shu Yu, saying that if he had known, he would have simply used force.

These words were overheard by Meng Yunzheng, who was about to get into the carriage. His expression changed on the spot, and he turned back to gaze fixedly at Yao An and his group.

Fortunately, Yao An was quickly ushered inside the inn and did not continue shouting.

However, Meng Yunzheng’s gaze fell on Ying Xi. Among those present, only Ying Xi had always been by Shu Yu’s side and knew what really happened.

Ying Xi had no choice, as the lady and Doctor Zhao had originally planned to keep things quiet. Who knew Yao An would spill it himself?

Therefore, she had to recount the entire process truthfully.

Consequently, Meng Yunzheng decided not to leave the city that day. He found an inn to stay in.

The next day, he began inquiring about the Yao Family’s affairs, clearly intending to take significant action.

When Shu Yu heard this, she finally couldn’t help but hold her forehead. She hadn’t expected it either; Yao An was courting disaster himself, and there was no stopping it.

“And then? Did he deal with Yao An?”
