The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1217: Chapter 1217: I Don’t Think It’s Good

Madam Tang still did not know that Xiang Weinan was the Princely Heir of the Earl’s Mansion in the capital; this was not something Tang Wenqian would tell her.

Therefore, Madam Tang thought he was just the county magistrate of Jiangyuan County, and she felt his ability to help her son was very limited. Naturally, an engagement with Shu Yu and knowing Lord Qi would be more advantageous.

But Madam Tang didn’t have time to think about it, as Shu Yu went to the capital again.

After finally returning, Madam Tang was just preparing herself to test the Lu family’s attitude.

Coincidentally, Nanny Gu came to inquire about it.

Madam Tang was naturally very pleased.

After Nanny Gu understood her thoughts, she had an idea, and after discussing it with Xiao Family, they deemed it feasible, which led to this Peach Blossom Banquet.

Xiao Family indeed thought highly of Tang Wenqian, as he was someone without resources, connections, or good financial support, yet he could still pass the scholarly examination at such a young age, which was quite rare.

“Yu, what do you think?”

Shu Yu saw that the two had almost reached an agreement, pursed her lips, and smiled, saying, “I think it’s not a good idea.”

Xiao Family frowned, “You…”

“Madam, whether you believe it or not, I still have to say it again; I do indeed have a betrothed. It’s just that he has been busy recently, so he is not in Jiangyuan County. Once he returns, our two families will finalize it.”

Xiao Family’s smile slightly faded, and Shu Yu’s address changed from sister-in-law back to madam, a clearly distancing term that made her unhappy.

She had meant well, but instead, they blamed her?

Xiao Family’s expression turned indifferent, she slightly leaned back, covered her mouth with a handkerchief, and when she removed it, there was no trace of a smile in her eyes. She tugged at her lips and said, “Is that so? I wonder when this person will return?”

“In at most half a month.” After all, in about twenty days, her sister would marry Zhao Xicheng, and Meng Yunzheng would certainly attend.

Xiao Family narrowed her eyes, not expecting her to give a precise time.

“Is that so? Then I will wait and see which family’s talented young man is so fortunate to win the favor of Monarch Lu Xiang.” She paused and added in a slightly heavier tone, “I hope Monarch Lu Xiang is not deceiving me.”

“Of course not, madam will know then.” After Shu Yu finished speaking, she stood up, “I won’t disturb you any longer, farewell.”

Xiao Family indifferently nodded, and Shu Yu bowed and left the pavilion.

She took Hua Xian, who was standing not far away, with her.

Beside Hua Xian, there was another maid brought by Xiao Family. Seeing Shu Yu leave with a blank expression, she quickly ran back to the pavilion.

Seeing Xiao Family with an unpleasant expression, the maid knew the discussion did not go smoothly.

She glanced up at Nanny Gu, who did not look at her but sighed and said to Xiao Family, “Miss, it is evident that Monarch Lu Xiang strongly opposes this matter; it seems it will not work.”

“She is naturally opposed.” Xiao Family snorted coldly, “How can Tang Wenqian compare to my husband’s status and future? With my husband as the shining example, she naturally has no interest in others. To think she would even fabricate a lie about being betrothed to someone else because of this.”

The maid was slightly surprised, “Monarch Lu Xiang disagrees? Then, what shall we do? Is she really planning to compete with Miss for the Lord’s favor?”

Xiao Family and Nanny Gu did not speak, and the atmosphere in the pavilion became tense.

However, no one there knew that, in the water beside the pavilion, at this moment, a head was slowly emerging.
