The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1223: Chapter 1223: Lu Sanzhu Becomes a Steward

Shuyou thought that after she and Zhao Xicheng got married, there would only be three people including Elder Zhao, so what did they need such a big house for?

A two-entry courtyard was already enough, and this courtyard was even slightly bigger than Third Uncle’s house.

Moreover, this courtyard was relatively new and just needed a little tidying up, which wouldn’t require much renovation to move in, and could be ready before the wedding.

As a result, Zhao Xi finally bought this two-entry courtyard, and Lu Erbai took a few days off, bringing along some young workers to fix up the necessary parts.

Next, Zhao Xi began focusing on setting up the new house.

He himself didn’t know much, and Elder Zhao had never married, so the two of them invited the matchmaker, who had initially helped propose, to give some advice and inquired about the marriage customs in Jiangyuan County, noting everything down.

The matchmaker was naturally pleased, as she was paid in money and the family marrying was the sister of Monarch Lu Xiang, which would bring her a good reputation and improve future business.

So she was very attentive, explaining all the local customs in great detail.

Zhao Xi was somewhat missing Meng Yunzheng, thinking that if he were here, at least there would be someone to help.

Ah, he wondered when they would return.

Shu Yu was also counting the days, reckoning that they should arrive within these few days.

However, instead of waiting for Meng Yunzheng, she was greeted by a jubilant Third Lu.

Third Lu didn’t come alone; he brought Madam Liang, Baoya, and happenstance, Dabao, who was on leave. The family of four arrived proudly at Fenghuai Street in brand new clothes.

When the old lady saw them enter the door, she frowned at first glance, got up, and gave Third Lu a smack, “You little rascal, aren’t you going to pay back Yu’s money? And you still have the nerve to dress up like a dandy, courting death, aren’t you?”

After speaking, she realized something was off and glanced at Madam Liang and the two children.

Good heavens, the whole family is wearing new clothes?

Madam Liang, feeling a bit guilty, chuckled dryly, while Third Lu quickly held the old lady’s hand and sat her back down, “Mother, why are you in such a hurry? It’s just because I had some good news to celebrate a little. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to pay back Yu’s money soon.”

The old lady snorted, “What good news is worth wasting money on a set of clothes for the whole family?”

“Mother, I’ve become a steward.”

The old lady, “…” She scrutinized Third Lu, almost doubting whether he was really her son.

It’s one thing for him to keep getting raises, considering he indeed has a bit of cleverness, and people are happy to give a little extra in passing.

But to be a steward requires ability, doesn’t it? Has his capability become so strong? Is this still the third son who used to only be a knave, making trouble, being gluttonous, and annoying everyone? Or is it that the boss of the Peach Blossom Forest has gone blind?

Third Lu saw the expression on the old lady’s face and knew what she was thinking, and he was a bit dissatisfied, “Mother, what do you mean by this? Shouldn’t you congratulate me for becoming a steward, instead of…”

As he spoke halfway, he happened to see Shu Yu walking over.

He immediately left the old lady and jumped over to Shu Yu.

Shu Yu couldn’t bear to look, wondering if he really was the father of two children with his unsteady demeanor.

“Third Uncle, you’re here.”

“Yu, I’ve become a steward.” Third Lu raised his voice in excitement.

Shu Yu was now truly impressed with Third Lu. Was her Third Uncle on a rocket? Promotion and pay raise shooting up, who could compete with him?
