The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1209: Chapter 1209: The Location is in Peach Blossom Forest

In the vast Jiangyuan County, Shu Yu, this Village Chief, is considered a person of high social status. If she doesn’t attend, others might speculate about her relationship with the Madam of the County Magistrate.

Especially since Shu Yu gets along well with the county magistrate.

Ding Yuehua consoled Shu Yu, “Luckily, it isn’t considered a very formal banquet. The venue is at the Peach Blossom Forest, and I guess we can just stroll around there, admire the flowers, and then go back. I’ll accompany you, and we can find a corner to chat by ourselves.”

The Peach Blossom Forest is where Third Lu works.

It’s usually open for free to the public, but there are more private areas reserved for wealthy young men and women to enjoy alone.

The place Xiao Family selected should be of that kind.

Ding Yuehua saw her expression relax slightly and said with a smile, “You’ve been busy for so long, it’s indeed time to relax. Don’t keep yourself too tightly wound; the work will never end. I figure that during the banquet, the Madam of the County Magistrate will definitely have a lot of people around her to talk, so we don’t need to push forward. Let’s treat it as if we’re just going to the Peach Blossom Forest for fun.”

Shu Yu looked at her with amusement, “You won’t push forward? Do you know who this Madam of the County Magistrate is? She is the mother of the Third Prince, the niece of Princess Consort Xiao’s family.”

Ding Yuehua widened her eyes, “That impressive?”

“Yes.”

Ding Yuehua was tempted for a moment but quickly shook her head, “Forget it, the Princes and Consorts in the Capital are too far from us. Even if we want to make a connection, our status has to be equal. Our family merely owns a few shops and workshops in the small county town. It’s like heaven and earth, so getting close will just be in vain.”

“You do see things clearly.”

“I can’t compare to you. You know her status, yet you’re still contemplating whether to attend? With your behavior, others would think you don’t appreciate your own good fortune.”

Shu Yu thought about it and realized she might indeed appear a bit out of touch.

She couldn’t help but laugh.

But since she had made the decision, she no longer hesitated and asked Hua Xian to send a reply to the county office.

Ying Xi had set out with Ying Dong to Huajiang Prefecture half a month ago.

The old lady saw she didn’t have many hands around her. The servants of the Lu family were not many, and they were now all performing their respective duties.

So she let Hua Xian stay by her side to help run errands.

Usually, Shu Yu doesn’t take Hua Xian when going to the manor; she only lets the coachman take her.

However, when she’s at home and occasionally can’t manage things alone, she asks Hua Xian to make a trip.

In the following days, Shu Yu continued to manage the workshop affairs in an orderly manner.

By the third day, she picked an outfit and applied a simple, unobtrusive makeup, looking refreshingly spirited.

Lately, she’s been in a mess, doing everything as simply as possible, constantly rushing without time to dress up, even the old lady said she didn’t have the appearance of a young woman.

Now she finally received the old lady’s praise, happily sending her granddaughter out the door.

Ding Yuehua was already waiting outside. She also lives on Fenghuai Street now, close by, and since they were going to the same place, they conveniently shared the same carriage, keeping each other company.

Shu Yu boarded Ding Yuehua’s carriage, taking Hua Xian with her.

When they arrived at the Peach Blossom Forest, it was not too early nor too late, drawing no attention.

The two of them intended to keep a low profile and avoid the crowd throughout.

Who knew that just after getting off the carriage, Ding Yuehua’s face suddenly darkened when she saw Kong Zhiyou, who had also just arrived, not far away.
