The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1237: Chapter 1237: Marrying Again After Three Years

This made the Xiao Family’s guard go up, and successfully led Ms. Ren astray.

Thinking back now, some things might not be as simple as they seemed, she was blinded.

The Xiao Family took a deep breath, got into the carriage, and headed straight for the county office.

She left, but the excitement at the Lu family’s continued.

The matchmaker saw it was getting late, time to go back, and shifted the topic to the wedding date for the two, deciding this matter was almost settled.

The matchmaker thought it out well, the eldest daughter of the Lu family would marry in a couple of days, the Second Young Lady of the Lu family shouldn’t marry until next year at the earliest.

Who knew before she even said next year aloud, Shu Yu interjected, ”We’ll marry three years later.”

Getting married at eighteen was already considered early for Shu Yu.

The matchmaker looked at her embarrassedly, ”... Wouldn’t it be, too late?”

Meng Yunzheng laughed and said, ”Not too late, I’m a mere commoner right now, while Yu is already an honorable Village Chief. No matter what, I must earn titles to be worthy of her, or it would be too unjust for her.”

The matchmaker’s eyes lit up, ah, so the plan was to earn titles.

But the next moment, she furrowed her brows, Young Master Meng is a commoner now, but how can he be certain he’ll earn titles in three years? If he doesn’t pass, won’t he marry then?

Generally, those who study decently well should be a Scholar by his age, right?

Just like Tang Wenqian, he’s already got the scholarly examination under his belt.

However, when news spread next year of Meng Yunzheng successfully achieving the top ranks consecutively, the matchmaker was nearly astounded.

Of course, that’s a tale for another time.

At the moment, the matchmaker still faced difficulty, but both the Lu and Meng family had no objections and fully agreed to this decision.

Alright then, since that’s the case, the wedding will wait for three years, and choosing the date now is too early.

With the schedule set, the matchmaker went back home.

Meng Pei also drank a bit with Old Doctor Zhao that evening, feeling a bit tipsy, plus traveling in the morning, he must be quite tired.

Shu Yu then had someone escort them back home first.

Meng Yunzheng and others were still there, taking advantage of the moment while others were in the front hall having tea and chatting, Xiang Weinan approached Shu Yu and quietly asked, ”Did the Xiao Family show up at your house today to cause trouble for you?”

Shu Yu glanced at him sidelong, ”It’s not really trouble, anyway, there’s nothing now.”

The Xiao Family is not truly evil, just not on the same path, and they’ll likely have little interaction in the future.

Especially after the Third Prince fails in his future struggle for succession, whether the Xiao Family gets implicated is still uncertain.

Xiang Weinan saw she wasn’t looking to say much more, knowing part of it was considering his connection. He paused for a moment, ”When I return, I will clarify it with her, and if she comes looking for you again, just let someone inform me.”

In the future?

Shu Yu was curious, ”Is Madam staying in Jiangyuan County for long?”

Xiang Weinan frowned, wanting to send the Xiao Family back to the capital as soon as possible, but seeing the Xiao Family’s stance, it’s not easy.

Speaking of this, Xiang Weinan too felt troubled. The Xiao Family’s status, unless she wants to leave herself, it would be impossible to force her back.

Who knew that at this moment, Meng Yunzheng suddenly approached and added, ”You won’t be staying long in Jiangyuan County anyway.”

Shu Yu and Xiang Weinan simultaneously turned to look at him, ”What do you mean?”
