The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1211: Chapter 1211: Seeing Kong Zhiyou’s True Colors

Ding Yuehua knew then that both husbands and wives were targeting Shu Yu.

No, it should be said, they were targeting Lord Qi and Lord Yao behind Shu Yu.

She felt extremely uncomfortable and didn’t stay long. After eating, she excused herself early and left.

Originally, she thought this was a tacit understanding among everyone, and they would gradually drift apart in the future.

However, the next day, Kong Zhiyou came to find her.

This person had always been very gentle, at least Ding Yuehua had never seen her yell or curse.

But that day, she saw a completely different Kong Zhiyou.

She blamed Ding Yuehua for not informing her earlier, causing her to invite so many guests and end up losing face.

It was then that Ding Yuehua realized that more than half of the guests Kong Zhiyou invited were attracted by Shu Yu’s name.

It’s important to know that the Kong family’s financial situation was not bad, but her husband, though having some fame, was not wealthy. So since getting married, Kong Zhiyou had to be frugal in food, clothing, and living, which was quite different from before.

Because of this, she participated less in the entertainment activities of many wealthy ladies and madams. Some friends with whom she previously had average relations drifted further apart. Some even mocked her in private, saying that she had turned herself into a haggard woman just for the future chance of becoming a government official’s wife, and even if her husband became an official, she would be disliked.

This time for her birthday, Kong Zhiyou invited these people as well.

Some were not willing to come initially, but Kong Zhiyou subtly mentioned that that day, Monarch Lu Xiang would also appear.

As a result, from the start of the banquet to its end, Shu Yu never showed up.

How could Kong Zhiyou not be angry? What angered her more was that her husband’s family originally didn’t agree with her holding such a grand birthday banquet. They only agreed because of Shu Yu, hoping to hook into the resources behind him.

But they got nothing; Kong Zhiyou not only lost face in front of her friends but also got blamed in every possible way by her in-laws, and in the end, her husband even hit her.

Kong Zhiyou’s anger was all aimed at Ding Yuehua, who she came to confront the next day.

Ding Yuehua was almost bursting with anger. She clearly sent Xiao Yun to notify her early with an explanation, yet now she was being blamed.

Xiao Yun had notified Qiuju, the maid beside Kong Zhiyou, but Qiuju adamantly denied it, claiming she never saw Xiao Yun nor heard anything about Monarch Lu Xiang leaving the capital.

Both of them insisted the other was at fault, and thus they parted ways unhappily, falling out completely and having no further interactions.

Ding Yuehua said to Shu Yu, “You know Xiao Yun, how could she not properly handle something I specifically instructed? It’s Qiuju, during the conversation, her eyes were shifty, clearly lying.”

Xiao Yun was walking right behind the two, naturally overhearing the conversation between Ding Yuehua and Shu Yu.

She pressed her lips together and suddenly added, “I know why Qiuju lied.”

Ding Yuehua turned her head abruptly, “You know?”

Xiao Yun nodded, took a few steps forward, and said in a low voice, “After Miss’s fallout with Mrs. Chen, I felt indignant and wanted to know why Qiuju falsely accused me and got Miss scolded by Mrs. Chen, so I kept paying attention to her secretly.”

She used to call Kong Zhiyou Miss Kong, but now she’s not willing anymore and only calls her Mrs. Chen.

“Yesterday, when I went to Yiren Pavilion to pick up clothes for Miss, I saw Qiuju.”
