The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1239: Chapter 1239: Shuyou Gets Married

Tang Wenqian lay with his back to her, his voice was low, ”Mother, I’m a bit tired, I want to rest. You and father should drink the chicken soup.”

Madam Tang pursed her lips, ”Are you very tired today? Is it because the Office is too busy?”

”Yes.” Tang Wenqian clearly didn’t want to say much.

Madam Tang frowned, feeling that something was off about her son. Wenqian had a gentle nature since he was a child, very patient, but why was he like this today?

She hesitated for a moment, somewhat unsure, and said, ”I don’t understand the affairs of your Office, but I heard that yesterday your county magistrate went to propose for marriage on behalf of the Lu family for that Erya, right?”

Tang Wenqian’s body suddenly stiffened, but he turned around, ”Mother, that’s Lord’s business, you better not inquire.”

This time, Madam Tang was sure, she looked at her son in shock.

After a long while, she swallowed and said, ”Wenqian, be honest with me, do you have feelings for that Erya from the Lu family?”

Tang Wenqian suddenly sat up, his brows tightly furrowed, ”Mother, words can’t be spoken carelessly. Lu Xiang is already engaged, if these words spread out, whether it concerns me, or Lu Xiang, or even Young Master Meng, reputations could be damaged.”

”But, but you...”

”Mother, I’m really tired, I want to sleep, please drink that chicken soup.” Tang Wenqian pushed Madam Tang out the door, closed it, and sat back down on the bed.

But he wasn’t sleepy at all, just stared blankly in the direction of the window.

Interested in Lu Shuyu?

Tang Wenqian admitted that the first time he saw that Erya from the Lu family, he felt she was a lively and spirited girl.

Later, when she took the ax to her grandmother’s house and angrily helped Girl Lu with her divorce, Tang Wenqian thought, this girl is truly fierce.

But the way she spared no effort for her family was particularly dazzling.

Afterwards, she handled three young lords in the Peach Blossom Forest, rescued Third Lu, and brought a thank-you gift the next day.

It was then that Tang Wenqian realized his emotions were changing.

Originally, he thought Lu Shuyu was still young, so there was no rush. He also needed to focus on gaining his scholarly title, and then make plans once he was established.

However, plans couldn’t keep up with change, and she was exiled.

Particularly because of his mother’s connections, the entire Lu family knew about this and chased them to the southwest.

In that moment, Tang Wenqian knew, it was impossible.

He wrote her an apology letter, Shu Yu did not blame him. But Tang Wenqian’s heart was always preoccupied with this matter.

Later, spending time by Xiang Weinan’s side, he gradually came to know some things, such as... Meng Yunzheng.

He became even more aware that Shu Yu went to the capital for Meng Yunzheng.

Tang Wenqian told himself he should give up, so when Shu Yu returned, he tried to avoid seeing her.

However, learning today that she was engaged to that Young Master Meng, the feeling in his heart was, after all, unpleasant.

But Tang Wenqian was very good at restraint, he would keep these feelings buried deep in his heart, just like this, as a somewhat familiar fellow countryman.

When Shu Yu’s engagement was abuzz for two days before it died down, it was because Shuyou was getting married.

This was Shuyou’s second marriage, last time the Zhang family did not value her, the bridal gifts were not much, the banquet invitations were stingy. On the wedding day, Shuyou was taken to the Zhang family on a wooden cart.

If it weren’t for the custom in Jiangyuan County that the bride’s feet do not touch the ground after leaving the house until entering the groom’s house on the wedding day, the Zhang family probably wouldn’t have even bothered with a cart, just made her walk.
