My Alleged Husband

Chapter 797: Chapter 763: Don’t Go Too Far_2

Xiao Wei was at a loss for words after Zhang Yichen said that. If his wife was indeed being bullied, as a husband, he was certainly going to step forward, risking everything to protect her.

He thought to himself, if, as a man, he truly couldn’t protect his own wife, what was the worth of such a man? Having lost the very meaning of manhood, what reason would there be to continue living in this world? It would be nothing more than enduring others’ scorn and abuse.

”Since you’ve said that much, I won’t say more,” the uncle responded. ”But when we return, you must act as if nothing happened and quickly apologize to your mother. She’s just recovered from a serious illness. Your father is still inside, and his heart is in turmoil. You can’t add fuel to the fire. This could really send him to the hospital with anger.

Even if you don’t do it for your mother’s sake, shouldn’t you consider your father? Does he really want to witness a conflict between you and your mother? He doesn’t wish to find that right after he’s been hospitalized, you’re having a quarrel with your mother behind his back. Not even able to rest while healing, he would find no peace of mind!”

”You’ve grown up, my child, and with some matters, we can no longer meddle in your decisions. Yet, to protect your family, you should make the right choices. You can make amends with your wife. You and your wife have many years ahead together, but your parents may not have so many years left in this world. You should properly consider what you need to do to repay your parents for their years of nurturing!”

”Uncle, don’t worry, I understand. When I go back, I will apologize to my mom!”

The hospital corridor...

”Mom, I’m sorry. I acted too rashly earlier. I shouldn’t have confronted you and spoken those words. I also shouldn’t have lost my temper with you. I truly realize my mistake. Please don’t be angry. The greater person overlooks the mistakes of those beneath them. Please forgive me!”

Xia Jing was stunned when she heard her son’s apology. She had never imagined that her son would apologize to her one day!

Over the years, amongst the rumors outside, was there any that didn’t label the president of Zhang Corporation as cold-hearted and merciless, someone who would never apologize to anyone, and who would remain arrogantly in the right even when in the wrong?

”Yichen, am I hearing things? Are you really apologizing to me? You’re not just pretending to apologize now to start another argument later, are you? Everyone says you’re too proud to ever admit your mistakes, but here you are suddenly apologizing to me today. It’s almost too unbelievable...”

”So, I’ve realized my mistake, and I truly shouldn’t have spoken to you with that tone. You are my mother, how could I treat you that way? I’m really sorry about today’s incident, I couldn’t control my emotions back then. You know that I was only too concerned for my wife, which is why I said those things to you. I hope you, as a mother, won’t mind, after all, she is also your daughter-in-law. Everything she does is for the peace and happiness of our family and everyone at home.”

”I know my words made you angry, but please, if not for the monk’s sake then for the Buddha’s – consider your adorable grandson, look at your husband still lying there, and remember how she has painstakingly taken care of me and grandpa all these years. Let bygones be bygones and forgive us. From now on, we’ll definitely get along well. Let’s not hold grudges over any matter!”

Xia Jing is also someone who knows when to back down. Her own son had already spoken to such an extent; as a mother, if she didn’t choose to forgive quickly, she felt it would seem unreasonable. What if her son didn’t maintain this good attitude and apologize to her later on? Wouldn’t that be a loss for her? She is the first one in this lifetime to hear her son apologize, and those outside would probably be envious, right?

”I know why you did all this, I don’t blame you. It was wrong of me to argue with your wife in public. It is right for you to stand up for your spouse, even if I am your mother. It was appropriate for you to say those things in her defense, after all, a wife is more important. Since ancient times, hasn’t it always been that once a man takes a wife, he forgets his parents?

My child, right now I don’t want anything else; I just want your father to wake up. Therefore, before that happens, I really hope there won’t be any more disputes between us. It’s torture for me, I can’t bear that kind of torment. Can you try to put yourself in my shoes? I just want to live peacefully; I just hope I can live happily every day. This might seem like a simple thing for you, but for me, it’s really difficult!”

”I now realize my mistake, I will certainly not leave him anymore. All I want is for him to wake up. In my heart, I pray over and over again, to the heavens, I just hope that the heavens will give me a chance to atone for my sins. But it seems as if the heavens have stuffed their ears with cotton, totally indifferent to my cries. Sometimes there’s sunshine, sometimes clouds fill the sky, sometimes it pours rain, and I can do nothing but repeatedly watch these changes above, while all I can do here is watch my husband lying there, going through one resuscitation after another!”

”Alright, sister, once things are talked out, it’s better. Why persist in clinging to this issue? It won’t make you happy or content. You too want every member of your family to live securely, so don’t keep tallying scores. Things that need to be let go should eventually be released.

I don’t care what exactly happened between you, your child and his parents, and I don’t want to meddle too much, but when you do things, just don’t go too far. Leave some room for each other. Taking things too far is really of no benefit. Are you really certain that after you part ways, our world is so vast that you’ll never cross paths again, never meet? What if one day you bump into each other in some corner, how will you face each other then?

None of you are impulsive in your actions; in fact, you think more far-sightedly than me. So you should have foreseen the consequences when taking these actions. Please, think it over carefully, consider whether you want to take things this far again. Going too far is truly bad for everyone involved!

Everyone should live happily and joyfully, that’s the most stable thing for everyone involved. Don’t fight over trivial things every day. Otherwise, this home will always be in chaos, and there will never be a day of peace...”
