My Alleged Husband

Chapter 757: Chapter 727: The Head of the Family Sees Off_1

Old Master Zhang watched from behind as his son and daughter-in-law quarreled, and he did not step in to stop them. He knew that if their relationship was discordant, they had to resolve the issue themselves. Others’ help might alleviate temporary difficulties, but what about the future? How were they to resolve the incessant quarrels? Had anyone considered the consequences such an ending would bring for themselves? How selfish everyone is, did they ever think about the pain all this would bring?

Zhang Yichen watched his parents in this state, and deep down, he felt somewhat amused and helpless. Why couldn’t his relationships be as carefree as his parents’?

Observing that his parents’ lives weren’t the happiest, he saw that they possessed something not everyone could have: an understanding between each other.

Having been married for so many years and with his own child, he couldn’t achieve the same rapport with his wife that his parents shared in their relationship. If he and his wife quarreled, it would only become a relentless display of arrogance.

But his parents were different. His mother would never admit she was wrong, yet his father knew that even when he wasn’t at fault, he would still bow his head for his family and to be with the woman he loved. He would apologize to his beloved wife.

He also understood that a simple apology, even for a minor issue, could make it disappear, and a major one might seem less significant. And if both parties continued to confront each other, what was the point of being together if they couldn’t find any happiness?

Thinking about his son and daughter-in-law, Old Master Zhang had deep feelings. He recalled the loving relationship he had with his wife when they were young. Why did she have to leave this world so early and leave him alone?

Deep down, Old Master Zhang longed for his late wife to bless their son with success and joy, to live a happy life. And now, his son was indeed happy, but without a career of his own. Perhaps this was what his wife would have wished to see.

As a mother, it wasn’t about how many achievements her son had, but about him living a happy, blissful life. This was the greatest comfort for a mother.

Feeling this way, Old Master Zhang wasn’t so angry anymore. He thought that if his son was happy, then his wife’s spirit in heaven would find meaning in this, allowing him to smile contentedly in the afterlife.

In fact, Old Master Zhang was a romantic, and the Zhang Family, for generations, were romantics. Once they sincerely loved a woman, they would never abandon her, no matter what adversity they faced.

If his wife had not passed away so early, Old Master Zhang would certainly still be happily strolling with her, enjoying their favorite dinner together, watching the sunset.

Now his son, for the sake of his wife, chased her around the world, taking care of their grandson. Despite a successful career, his love life was not smooth, yet he chose to forgive his wife, demonstrating the romantic genes of the Zhang Family.

”Zhentian, Xia Jing, you must be careful when you’re out. Be cautious and don’t be deceived by anyone. Remember, only those close to you are worthy of trust. The words of others are not as credible as those of loved ones. So, you must trust each other, support each other, and not let small disputes escalate into unresolvable conflicts; otherwise, it only gives the malicious an opportunity. Do you understand?”

Old Master Zhang felt that no matter what, he should see off his son. As he watched his son leave once again, he truly couldn’t put his mind at ease. Despite having gone through this again and again, why couldn’t he, as a father, let go of his child? Watching his child venture out alone always worried a parent.

”Thank you, my dearest father. I haven’t stayed by your side to honor you over these years, haven’t brought you any joy or happiness, and I’ve caused you much sorrow, but I hope you can believe that I sincerely want to stay by your side and honor you. I won’t act recklessly as I did before; you are my father, and I will always be by your side for the rest of my life. Wait for my return, for when I come back, it will be time for our family to reunite.

And please believe that one day I will provide the life you desire. I want you to know that I’ve also put in a lot of effort for this family!”

When Zhang Zhentian saw his father coming to send him off, how could his heart not be touched? He had missed so much over the years, yet his father still stood by him, showing that he had truly forgiven. What more could he wish for? Sometimes people shouldn’t desire too much; once expectations become excessive, they only intensify, leading to numbness and confusion about what to do.

”Go ahead, do what you want, and have a good time. Be happy, and remember that I will always be waiting here for you to come home, to our warm embrace. This will always be your haven of warmth, and as long as you wish to return, to stay by my side, to look after this old man, the doors of the Zhang Family will always be open for you...”
