My Alleged Husband

Chapter 769: Chapter 739 Loosening_1

Li Jiayuan had become friends with Xia Jing long before, and now that she knew her dear friend had been in a car accident, she couldn’t just sit still waiting for good news to come, especially since so much time had already passed without any positive updates. She was truly scared of losing such a friend.

Lei Kai realized that no matter what he said, he couldn’t persuade his mother to stay. He knew deep down his mother was truly anxious.

And how could his relatives not be anxious too? No matter what conflicts there might be between the adults, Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian had been genuinely kind to him as the younger generation.

”Kai’er, you are my flesh and blood, how could you only consider your father’s side and neglect your mother’s feelings? Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to bring you into this world? Haven’t you ever thought about that?

Even though you’ve rarely been at home these years, always busy with your career, as a mother, I have been constantly concerned about your every move. I cannot understand what mindset could make you feel all this has nothing to do with you, as if you have never considered things from the perspective of your mother.

Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian had an accident, which is significant in your father’s eyes, but does that mean it’s not important to me, your mother? I truly regard her as my close sister, and now that such an incident has happened to her, how could I possibly stand by idly without even sending a word of concern?

If it were so, and she eventually woke up to find out I had never shown up or inquired after her during her illness, how would I face myself? How then could I continue to be close sisters with her?”

Li Jiayuan didn’t say much; the presence of his son was just making it more awkward for him. He didn’t know how to persuade his mother, but since things were already decided, he thought it might be best to let her return to China to see Xia Jing, which might finally bring some peace to his mother’s heart.

”Mom, no matter when and where, you will always be my mother in my heart. No matter what happens, this fact will not change. Since you want to go back to China to see her, then I will let you go. At the beginning, we just didn’t want you to get too tired from going back and forth. We couldn’t bear to have you flying every day, not realizing it would end up causing a misunderstanding. Instead, we think it’s better for you to go back and take care of them.”

”I don’t know whether I should take my younger brothers back with me.”

Although Lei Kai had been constantly on the go in recent years, busy with his career and wanting to carve out a place for himself - not to become the world’s richest man, but at least not much less than Zhang Yichen.

He had always wanted to return to China, but the opportunity never arose. Now that it had, how could he let it slip away so easily? He felt it was time to make a return to China and see the beautiful rivers and mountains; how could he settle permanently in the United States and never set foot in another land?

Li Jiayuan thought it would be a good decision to take her son back with her. At least if something happened on the way, she would have someone to help her, for she was getting on in years and traveling back and forth was not safe. Having her son by her side would also give others peace of mind.

”Kai’er, since you’ve said so, what can I, as a mother, say? It makes me happy that you can return with me. I am pleased about it. I also have not been back for many years, and I want to take you to see the place where I once lived.”

Thus, Li Jiayuan returned to China with her son.

Xiao Wei found out about Li Jiayuan’s return to China the next day.

He hadn’t expected the secret to be out so soon; he had only been back for a week when his wife followed his footsteps. Maybe he hadn’t considered it enough; such an important matter couldn’t be kept secret forever. When it was time for the truth to be known, it had to be told. Their returning wasn’t such a bad decision; at least now they could see everything with their own eyes. Being stuck in the United States waiting for news wouldn’t do them any good; it was agony to wait like that.

”Yichen, your aunt and your cousin have come over. I am going to the airport to pick them up. If anything unexpected happens here, contact me immediately, and I will rush back.”

Zhang Yichen was truly grateful for his uncle who had been waiting here for so long. Normally, his uncle hadn’t left the hospital for a whole week, always waiting for his parents to wake up. But now, his aunt had come all the way from the United States. Perhaps she came to take good care of his parents. How could he possibly stop her?

”Uncle, you can go to the airport with peace of mind to pick up Auntie and my cousin. I will take good care here, and if there is any little movement, I will notify you immediately. Be careful on the way to the airport, and make sure you stay safe.”

”Alright, then I’ll be off!”

After Xiao Wei left, Zhang Yichen, looking at his parents still lying in the ICU, couldn’t help but mutter to himself.

”Mom and Dad, why, after so many days, is there still no sign of you waking up? Do you know how many people have been worried sick about you these days? Do you know your brother-in-law came all the way back here? He has been waiting for a whole week, yet there’s been no sign of you getting better. Now Auntie and my cousin are here, too. They’re hoping you can surprise them by being safe and sound. Please don’t keep sleeping like this; sleeping too long isn’t good for your health...”

Zhang Yichen said so much, but his parents couldn’t hear a word of it because they had retreated into their dream world, oblivious to the time and unaware of how many people were worried about them. They returned to the happiest days of their past, forgetting that so many people were eagerly awaiting their awakening.
