My Alleged Husband

Chapter 770: Chapter 740 Picking Up from the Airport_1

When Xiao Wei arrived at the airport, Li Jiayuan and Lei Kai just got off the plane. Seeing her husband coming to pick her up, she was truly thrilled at the bottom of her heart.

Xiao Wei saw his wife standing there, tears swirling in her excited eyes, and all the words he wanted to say to his wife had to be forcefully swallowed back.

”Xiao Wei, how could you do this? How could you, along with your son, take this matter and complain to Mr. Ma about me? Don’t you know Xia Jing and I are close friends now? If something really happens to her, how could my heart possibly be happy?

You men, do you ever consider the feelings of your own family? Although you considered my feelings and my physical condition at the beginning,

deep down I am still unhappy. Why is that? I am your wife, who has shared the bed with you for so many years. How could you keep something like this from me? Tell me, what else would you keep secret from me?”

Xiao Wei hadn’t expected that if Li Jiayuan became unreasonable, she could be even more troublesome than his own sister, which really proved the saying that women and villains are hard to raise.

No matter what his wife said, he could only silently endure it. He couldn’t argue with her, didn’t he bear it all just because he couldn’t face her traveling so far, fearing that she would have to deal with everything alone? He was merely trying to share the burden, but if he now failed to remember the good he did and instead chose to complain about him, would he then truly be worthy of calling himself a man?

”Jiayuan, I was inconsiderate in this matter. Please don’t be angry with me. I just wanted you to rest assured over there. You know how tiring it is to travel back and forth, and it’s not that I begrudge the car fare; I just didn’t want your body to suffer from the traveling.

Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. Let’s hurry to the hospital. I’m worried about any sudden changes with Zhang Yichen; it’s been so long and there has been no sign of improvement, nor any sign of him waking up. I’m a bit worried too. Let’s quickly get back to the hospital to help keep watch. The more people we have, the better, so our nephew won’t be under too much pressure by himself.”

Li Jiayuan felt that Xiao Wei’s words made sense, and she agreed to rush to the hospital immediately because she felt that no matter what, she had to keep a careful watch over her good friend. Now, their relationship was special; they were family by marriage.

Xiao Wei glanced at Lei Kai, who awkwardly scratched his head.

He felt quite embarrassed, as he had not been able to flawlessly handle even a small task entrusted to him by his father. So what could he possibly be capable of in his father’s eyes?

”Let’s hurry back to the hospital. Stop staring at Lei Kai.

This wasn’t his fault. If it weren’t for my timely discovery, did you father and son plan to keep it buried from me forever? If you dare to blame him unfairly for this, I will not let you off easily. Do not think just because we’ve been married for many years that I have never been angry with you, but there are some principles one must adhere to as a person. Do you think what we have between us is based on such principles?”

”Yes, yes, you’re right, wife. What you say is correct, it’s the husband’s fault, the father should not have kept this from you and should have told you earlier, so you could have returned to China with me.”

”But Jiayuan, haven’t you thought about how I’ve been back in China alone for a whole week now? Both of them still haven’t woken up. It’s only been a week since you followed me back here. What could I possibly change? It’s just one more person waiting here in vain, one more person getting heartbroken. You are only now realizing that the truth of the matter is actually for the best.”

”Fine, fine, you father and son always say whatever is for my best.

Now you’re doing what’s best for me, and I’m still rushing over at your place. Could you take me to the hospital? I want to see how my best friend is doing in your care. I’m worried too!”

Xiao Wei brought Li Jiayuan to the hospital.

”Uncle, auntie, you’re here, please sit down and rest awhile. Auntie, thank you for worrying about my parents; you’ve tired yourself out!”

”What are you talking about, silly child? Your mother and I are best friends. When something happens to her, shouldn’t I, as her best friend, come to see her? You really should have told us about such a big issue!

Even if you’re as tough as iron walls, you won’t be able to bear it alone. Enduring all the pain by yourself, have you never thought about letting others help you? Suffering here alone, how could you possibly handle everything?

Look at your dark circles, you’re already so worn out. I heard grandpa passed out; is he alright?”

”Thank you for your concern, auntie. Grandpa isn’t seriously ill.

He just fainted because he was too worried about my mom and dad not waking up. He got emotional and passed out, but there’s no big problem now. What I’m most worried about is why my parents won’t wake up. It’s already been three full weeks. If it exceeds a month, the chances of them waking up will be even lower.

I have never been able to fully investigate this car accident. I don’t know what could have distracted my father while he was driving, nor do I understand under what circumstances such a severe accident could occur on the highway...”

Zhang Yichen has been investigating the matter, but no matter how much he looks into it, he can’t find a definite answer. Perhaps the answer has disappeared as mysteriously as this, and he keeps waiting for the police to give him a definite reply. But as time passes without a word from the police, and his parents still unresponsive, his anxiety deepens.

”It’s alright, child, things will eventually pass. Believe that your parents will eventually wake up and that the truth of this matter will come to light. Don’t worry too much. Your primary task is to take good care of yourself, take care of grandpa so that when your parents wake up, they won’t be heartbroken.

I know what you’re thinking deep down, and you should always remember that you’re always your parents’ pride. That’s a fact of life that will never change. Having a son like you is the happiest thing in their lives.

They won’t feel proud over anything else, but they will feel proud and honored to have you as their son. You’ve given them a different kind of life, shown them what true love is, and they must be grateful for you. You really need to take good care of yourself now; you can’t let yourself fall apart too!”
