My Alleged Husband

Chapter 794: Chapter 762 Reluctant Heart_1

Xia Jing knew that deep down, her husband wasn’t happy.

It was torture for anyone to have been a lively person and now be confined to lying here, an insult to one’s self-esteem. One who could have stood tall and proud in front of others had been reduced to what? What kind of situation was this?

Ran Zhihan looked at her mother so heartbroken and felt pain deep within herself. She didn’t want this life for herself; she just wanted her family to live happily. She wasn’t greedy, but time and again, the outcomes only told her of her repeated failures. In the eyes of others, everything she did was insignificant, never acknowledged, no matter how much she gave to the family—it was always wrong.

A woman willingly sacrificed everything for her family, yet in the eyes of her loved ones, everything she did felt like a mistake. No one ever considered how difficult those tasks were or the pressure her loved ones were under. No one knew what the end would bring, nor did they consider the feelings of others. She didn’t owe them, but everything she did was for the peace of everyone—yet it only brought pain in the end.

”Mom, don’t be sad. If dad wakes up one day and sees you in such pain, imagine how terrible he would feel. He is not heartless. He just wanted his wife to live a happy, fulfilled life. You know how much he has done for you over the years. If you keep being dejected like this, think of the sorrow in his heart. Would he want you to endure such grievances?”

You should also be clear, he wouldn’t bear to see you hurt, let alone suffer such a huge grievance. If he knew he couldn’t wake up, he would prefer you leave him and never come back. He doesn’t want to drag you down, but I also know you’re stubborn and would never do that. Besides, both of you are at fault in this matter!

Mom, some things can’t be forgotten just because we say so, and some things can’t be changed just because we want to change them. But if we truly want to change, it means that somewhere deep inside, we are not that hurt after all.

For now, all our family can do is wait for a miracle. If a miracle does happen to us, wouldn’t it bring the joy and happiness we all desire? All we want is for our family members to be safe and sound, and I’m no exception; I’m part of this family, too. It hurts me to see Dad lying there as well.

Don’t think that just because I don’t carry the Zhang last name, I have no feelings for the Zhang family. Over these years, I’ve become a part of the Zhang family. Now that I’m married to your son, I am determined to live only for him for the rest of my life.”

Xia Jing said her daughter-in-law had good intentions, but she didn’t want her to meddle too much. While as a member of the Zhang family, she cared what became of her husband, becoming too involved in their marital affairs repeatedly would not please her as a mother.

”Zhihan, Mom knows you’re a good girl and you mean well for everyone at home, but there are some things you shouldn’t force or meddle in too much. The matters between a couple are for them to deal with. I truly don’t want others pointing fingers. Although I made a mistake, I didn’t expect it to lead to this, and the outcome weighs heavily on my heart.

Since you all know too well that your father wouldn’t want me to suffer the slightest injustice, how do you think he’d feel if you all ganged up against me? How could he possibly heal peacefully knowing this? If he knew, he’d want nothing more than to take me away from here, never to return. You all know how proud a man he is, don’t you?”
