My Alleged Husband

Chapter 762: 732 Chapter Waiting for a Miracle_1

”Dad, Mom, how are Grandpa and Grandma doing now? When I got home and saw that no one was there, I was just about to go out to look for you when Grandpa came back. But I noticed that Grandpa’s face wasn’t particularly happy. So I pressed him for the reason, and although I was a bit shocked when he told me what had happened, I also knew I couldn’t panic.

Because I have a heavy burden to carry, I must go through things that others might not be able to endure. You probably didn’t expect that I would complete all my tasks ahead of schedule once again, after going through devilish training. I’ve returned once more from the secret bases at home and abroad, which are no longer fit for me to train in, and I must seek out my uncle for more rigorous training.”

Zhang Yichen had not expected his son to once again exceed his tasks beyond the call of duty, giving himself an unexpected surprise. He had never thought his son would grow up so fast. Seeing his son taller than before, their hearts swelled with reassurance. How could they not be happy seeing their child becoming more sensible by the day?

Yet why, in the midst of their child’s growth, did his parents have to suffer such an unexpected accident? Now he was torn between happiness and pain – perhaps he should feel both.

”Nai’er, Dad really didn’t expect that you would once again exceed your tasks as before, nor did I think you would be faster than before. You are truly Dad’s pride. But now, Grandpa and Grandma are lying in this room, and no one can go in to speak with them. Their lives are hanging by a thread, and perhaps Dad won’t have any chance to reward you, but I hope you can wait. When Grandpa and Grandma wake up, I will make up for all the rewards I owe you. Maybe you don’t care about these things, because you have never received them from a very young age. Yet as a child, you may also hope to receive rewards from your parents, as it is an affirmation of your growth!”

Zhang Ni had to admit that the words his father spoke today hit him right in the heart. Despite his tenacity over the years, and the relentless efforts to achieve his goals, he still hoped for comfort from his parents whenever he was injured.

Yet, they never did so, for his parents provided strict training time and time again.

His parents wanted him to understand that only by persistently getting back on his feet could he walk a unique path and reach his desired goals without losing the final say over certain matters due to some setbacks.

But how could Zhang Yichen not know the deepest desires of his son’s heart? As a child, doesn’t everyone wish to receive a reward from their parents after each success? As a form of parental affirmation, every child in the world hopes for such a reward—it’s a great honor for them, a sign that they have earned their parents’ pride.

However, Zhang Ni was very sensible. Facing the words from his father, he remained composed and said, ”Dad, it’s alright. As long as Grandpa and Grandma can get better, what else matters to us?

Rewards can be given any time. I can also earn them through my own efforts and ask you for them next time, right? Right now, the only thing we can do is to take good care of Great Grandpa and Grandpa and Grandma, hoping they will wake up soon. We don’t want them to leave us here; it would make you look so lonely, and it would cause deep pain in my heart.”

Zhang Yichen patted Zhang Ni’s head. He had not expected that his son, after growing up abroad for these two years, would change so much. It had been a full two years since he last saw his son, and he was waiting for Yichen to return to the homeland. He always thought it would be several more months before his son came home, but unexpectedly, Yichen had finished all his courses so much earlier than anticipated. How could his heart not swell with pride?

”Good boy, you really are your dad’s pride, but now all we can do is wait, wait for a miracle to happen, to see if the heavens really do have eyes, to see my parents struggling so hard against fate!”

Dad knows that, just like your mom and I, you are worried about grandpa and grandma. Even though your mouth says you hate them, that you don’t want to see them, deep down in your heart, you still love them. You hope they can be by your side, and I understand all your feelings!

Sometimes, dad may be too strict with you. After this year, you will be eight years old! You really should start growing up. Compared to your peers, you have matured far too much on so many matters, more than anyone else, yet you have never complained because you believe. You believe you can carve out the life you want for yourself, believe that step by step you can reach the peak you aspire to, and one day you will also realize your own dreams.”

Zhang Ni didn’t want to think about anything else now; he just hoped his grandparents would wake up soon. He saw that his parents’ eyes were already bloodshot. They must have stayed up all night without sleep. He didn’t want to see his parents toil so hard anymore, nor could he bear to let his parents be so tired time and again.

”Dad, I believe a miracle will surely happen. You guys should rest a bit. Your eyes are already full of blood vessels. If grandpa and grandma wake up and see you like this, they will worry, they will be distressed. Now I’m here to keep watch for a while. With even the slightest movement, I will definitely call you straight away. Just take a brief nap!”

Yes, deep inside, Zhang Yichen also believed that a miracle could happen. He believed that the heavens were fair to him, that they looked after him. Perhaps he really should conserve his energy so that everything wouldn’t become so dull. He wanted his parents to know that he had always been by their side. They could not let their own bodies collapse, for if his parents woke up and saw him like this, as a parent, how could they not be heartbroken for their child?

”Alright, Nai’er, you stay here for a while, and mom and dad will sit here and catch a little sleep. You must pay attention, okay? Don’t let anything happen to grandpa and grandma. If there’s any trouble, wake us up straight away, and if anything unexpected happens, call the doctor at once. Got it?”

”Dad, don’t worry, I will pay attention. I am not a little kid anymore. You rest assured and get some sleep for a while. Maybe by the time you wake up, grandpa and grandma will have come around. Don’t you still believe that grandpa and grandma will definitely wake up?”
