Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”That wasn’t even that much money.”

”It’s not about the money. It’s that back then, I felt like you truly saw me as a friend.”

Xu Yun looked at the designated driver Chen Yang had called and said, ”Alright, time to go. Remember to send me your account number.”

”Okay.”

Chen Yang added, ”Oh, right, Ye Fei went to the restroom and hasn’t come out yet. She drank so much, too...”

”Don’t worry. I’ll make sure she gets home safely.”

Not long after Chen Yang left, Ye Fei emerged from the restaurant.

In truth, she’d finished in the restroom long ago. She had been watching from inside, waiting for Chen Yang to leave so she would have a chance to talk to Xu Yun alone.

”There you are.”

Seeing her, Xu Yun said with a smile, ”Chen Yang was just getting worried you’d gotten drunk and passed out in the restroom. He wanted me to go check on you.”

”My tolerance isn’t that bad.”

Ye Fei asked, ”They all left?”

”They’re all gone. It’s just you and me.”

Xu Yun said, ”Let’s go. I promised Chen Yang I’d get you home safely tonight.”

”How about we go for a walk by the river?”

Ye Fei said, ”It’s still early, and I could use the walk to sober up.”

”Alright, a walk it is.”

With that, the two of them headed toward Binjiang Road by the river.

Ning Qian had rushed over in her Porsche 911 after getting a text from Xu Yun earlier that evening. But before she even had a chance to be happy about it, she saw him chatting with another woman.

She didn’t get out of the car right away. Instead, she stayed put, waiting quietly.

As Xu Yun and Ye Fei walked past her car, Xu Yun shot her a look.

Ning Qian understood the signal and waited quietly in the car for his next cue.

Seeing Xu Yun glance at the Porsche 911, Ye Fei said with a smile, ”A car like this... every guy dreams of owning one, right?”

”It’s okay. I used to be a big fan.”

Ye Fei laughed. ”If you had a car like this, I can’t even imagine how many girls would throw themselves at you.”

”Would you?”

”Of course! Tall, rich, and handsome is my ideal partner, and you’ve got it all.”

Ye Fei then changed her tone. ”But you’re doing pretty well for yourself now, too. At least you have your own apartment and car in a big city like Jiangcheng. That’s better than a lot of people.”

”Why do I get the feeling you’re after my apartment and car?”

”I can’t believe you saw right through me.”

By the river, Ye Fei smiled, then suddenly turned to look at Xu Yun with a serious expression. ”Xu Yun, why don’t we give it a try?”

Hearing this, Xu Yun feigned astonishment. ”Are you serious? Whoa, that’s a bit much.”

”Haha, look at the shocked look on your face.”

Ye Fei said, ”I’m just kidding.”

”Oh, you gave me a scare.”

Xu Yun breathed a sigh of relief. ”I was about to say, I didn’t think I was that charming.”

”Still, Xu Yun... it would be nice if you really did have a Porsche 911.”

”Why?”

Ye Fei gazed at the river in the distance and sighed. ”Because then I could fall for you without any hesitation and be with you.”

”...”

’Crap, she really is after my house and car.’

’Is she trying to line me up as a backup?’

’To be fair, any inexperienced guy would hear words like that—not quite a love confession, but more seductive than one—and get hooked, line, and sinker.’

”It’s alright.”

Xu Yun was no naive boy. ”You’ll find your Porsche 911,” he said, consoling her.

”Why can’t it be yours?”

Ye Fei encouraged him, ”I’m sure if you work hard, you’ll be able to buy a 911 in a few years.”

”Because I already gave my Porsche 911 away.”

After saying this, Xu Yun had no desire to waste any more time on her.

Others might not have known, and Chen Yang hadn’t said anything, but Xu Yun knew. Chen Yang had privately tried to borrow money from Ye Fei that night. He was The Only One.

But she’d refused.

Back in their university days, Chen Yang had a crush on Ye Fei. When he heard her family was in trouble and needed money, he gave her his entire month’s living allowance.

’Now someone else is in a tough spot, and even though you could’ve helped out—any amount would have been something—you chose to just stand by and watch.’

Xu Yun never had a problem with manipulative women or gold diggers. At worst, they were just after his money.

But when it came to Ye Fei, because of Chen Yang, he wanted nothing to do with her.

And so, after saying his piece, he waved to someone in the distance.

Ning Qian had been watching Xu Yun the whole time. Seeing his signal, she immediately drove over and stopped in front of them.

Ye Fei watched as a beautiful woman, no less stunning than herself, got out of the car, took out a jacket, and draped it over Xu Yun’s shoulders. ”Honey,” she said with concern, ”it’s windy by the river. Don’t catch a cold.”

”...”

Ye Fei’s eyes went wide, her face a mask of disbelief.

”I really do have a lot of girlfriends. I wasn’t kidding.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Looks like you’ve sobered up. You can just grab a taxi home. I’m going to take off. Bye.”

With that, he and Ning Qian got in the car, and with a press of the accelerator, they were gone.

Only Ye Fei remained, left reeling in the wind as she muttered to herself, ”He... he really does have a Porsche 911.”

「In the car.」

Ning Qian, who had been playing along with Xu Yun’s act, asked with a hint of confusion, ”Brother Xu, who was that beautiful woman just now?”

”A university classmate.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”She’s a gold digger, just like you. But she’s not as cute, so I shut her down cold.”

”I feel like you’re insulting me.”

”No, I’m complimenting you.”

Xu Yun leaned back in his seat and said, ”After all, everything she dreams of having, you already have.”
