Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Should this be a completely unconditional investment, or should we follow standard investment procedures and prioritize the company’s interests?”

”Handle it as you see fit.”

Xu Yun said, ”I only promised to help her solve the financing issue. As for the specifics of how to secure the funds and manage the process, you’re the professionals. I’ll defer to you.”

”If it were up to me, I’d want to acquire a majority of the shares and take a controlling stake in this company!”

Fu Baoying said, ”Of course, I’d only have a controlling interest. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t get involved in or interfere with their day-to-day management and operations.”

Xu Yun hesitated.

’That would make me the company’s largest shareholder and de facto owner.’

Seeing Xu Yun remain silent, Fu Baoying continued, ”Xu Yun, you might not care about this sort of thing, but some things are only reliable when you hold them in your own hands.

Having a sword and not using it is a completely different concept from not having a sword at all.”

”Alright, I understand.”

Xu Yun acknowledged and hung up the phone.

Fu Baoying understood what Xu Yun meant. Although he hadn’t said it explicitly, his lack of objection was a tacit agreement.

Honestly, she hadn’t been confident that Xu Yun would agree to her suggestion.

’And why was that?’

’Because the company’s legal representative, or rather, the ultimate shareholder, was a young woman in her twenties named Xino!’

’Connecting that with how Xu Yun had suddenly, for no apparent reason, asked her to help this person so late at night...’

’Fu Baoying’s first thought was that this woman was probably just like her—one of Xu Yun’s women!’

’So, would Xu Yun agree to her seizing control from this other woman?’

’Probably not!’

She had even braced herself for his refusal.

So this was her little test of Xu Yun.

But to her surprise, Xu Yun had actually acquiesced.

’Does this mean that, in Xu Yun’s eyes, I’m more important than that Xino woman?’

At this thought, the corners of Fu Baoying’s mouth turned up.

Xu Xiaozhi was watching TV in the living room. When she saw her mother return, she giggled, ”Mommy, you’re trying to hide a smile!”

”Am I?”

Fu Baoying walked over, smiling as she picked her up. ”Come on, no more TV. I’ll give you a bath, and then it’s off to bed.”

”So what story are you going to tell me tonight, Mommy?” Children’s memories are fleeting, and after living together for a while, the bond between Xu Xiaozhi and Fu Baoying was already nearly as strong as that of a biological mother and daughter.

In another year or two, Xu Xiaozhi would completely forget her past, only remembering that Fu Baoying was her mother.

Fu Baoying replied, ”Tonight, I’ll tell you the story of the Prince and the Frog.”

After his call with Fu Baoying, Xu Yun drove aimlessly for a bit before abruptly making a U-turn and heading toward Wanqing’s place.

’Anyway, my business is taken care of for the night.’

’She invited me so sincerely this afternoon. If I don’t go tonight, she’ll be heartbroken.’

’A good man shouldn’t make a woman sad!’

Damn!

...

Meanwhile, in another villa in Jiangcheng, Qin Xun was at home, bored and playing video games.

He wanted to go out, but he was afraid of getting into another traffic accident.

Over the past few days, any car he rode in would inexplicably get rear-ended, or have its front or doors hit.

Although none of the accidents were serious, it was as if someone was deliberately targeting his cars. Even his insurance company thought he was having an unbelievable streak of bad luck, or that something just wasn’t right.

Three cars, all ”accidentally” hit within two days!

They even advised him to consider whether he had offended anyone recently.

Qin Xun recalled what Xu Yun had said to him as he left that day, a lingering fear making him wonder if Xu Yun was the one behind it all.

But even if it was him, there was nothing Qin Xun could do.

It was an overt plot; calling the police was useless. Every time his car was hit, the other driver was quicker than him to report it.

They would cooperate enthusiastically with the investigation, acting like model citizens.

His father had often used such tactics back when their family was in the demolition business.

So, to avoid unnecessary trouble, Qin Xun decided to stay home for a few days. He’d wait until he’d had the guy’s background checked out before planning his next move!

If the guy was just some posturing nobody, he wouldn’t mind spending a little money to have someone teach him a lesson.

If he was a heavy hitter, he’d lay low for a while.

But two days had passed, and the people he’d hired had found nothing. Utterly useless!

Returning home from a business dinner, Qin Zhiqiang was quite surprised to see his son, who had suddenly started behaving and staying at home for the past few days!

Usually, he’d be out carousing until the middle of the night!

He asked in confusion, ”What’s with you? Have you turned over a new leaf?”

”No, Dad.”

Qin Xun put down his controller, stood up, and said guiltily, ”I just thought I should stay home and spend more time with you.”

”I bet you’re out of money.”

He knew exactly what kind of troublemaker his son was. ”Still,” Qin Zhiqiang said, ”it’s good for you to stay home for a few days. Keeps you from causing trouble for me everywhere.”

”...” said Qin Xun.

”By the way, where are all your cars?”

Qin Zhiqiang said, ”When I came back today, I didn’t see a single one in the garage.”

”Uh, I sent them all to the shop for maintenance.”

”You should’ve at least kept one at home. How are you supposed to get around otherwise?”

Qin Zhiqiang said, ”You can take my spare Land Rover for now.”

”No need. I don’t need a car these next couple of days. I’m just staying home, not going anywhere.”

”???”

Qin Zhiqiang sensed something was off with his son. He asked tentatively, ”You didn’t cause some trouble, did you? Are you hiding at home because you’re scared to go out?”

”Of course not, I...”

Before Qin Xun could finish, Qin Zhiqiang’s phone rang, interrupting him.

”Hello, what is it?”

Qin Zhiqiang asked.

”Boss, bad news! Our establishment was just inspected. They found some issues and are ordering us to shut down for immediate rectification.”

Qin Zhiqiang froze, then asked, ”Who led the team?”

”Not sure. We don’t recognize any of the people who came today.”

”!!!”

Then, Qin Zhiqiang received another two or three calls in quick succession.

Without exception, every single one of his establishments had been hit with a surprise inspection that night and was forced to close.

Qin Zhiqiang put down the phone, his face grim.

Even a fool could see something was wrong!

That someone was targeting him!

Seeing this, Qin Xun, who was standing to the side, had a bad feeling and asked, ”Dad, what happened?”

”Several of our family’s businesses were just hit with surprise police inspections. They said we have violations and now we have to shut down for rectification.”

”...” said Qin Xun.

Qin Zhiqiang said, ”I’m going out to see what’s going on. You stay put and don’t go running around.”

”Oh.”

Qin Xun watched his father hurry out again, his own expression turning sour.

’This can’t be that guy’s doing, can it?’

Qin Xun stayed up all night, waiting for news from his father.

But it wasn’t until morning that Qin Zhiqiang finally returned home.

Qin Xun went up to him and asked with concern, ”Dad, how did it go?”

”It’s not easy to handle. I spent all night trying to pull strings and couldn’t even get a meeting with a single person.”

Qin Zhiqiang’s expression was grim. ”This inspection didn’t come from the local precinct. It was a direct operation from two different sub-bureaus. They didn’t even give their own subordinates a heads-up.”

”They’re targeting our family?”

”Obviously!”

Qin Zhiqiang said angrily, ”Someone’s trying to screw me over! The problem is, I haven’t pissed anyone off recently!”

”...”

Qin Xun’s heart sank. Seeing his father’s furious expression, he was too terrified to mention what had happened at the bar.

Just as Qin Zhiqiang was stewing over his businesses, his phone rang again.

He shouldn’t have answered. The moment he heard his subordinate’s report, he was utterly dumbfounded.

He collapsed into a sitting position right where he stood and furiously threw his phone to the ground!

Qin Xun asked cautiously, ”Dad, what is it now?”

”My two construction teams were just informed by the clients that they failed to follow proper procedures. They’ve been ordered to halt work and vacate the sites immediately, and the clients are terminating all future cooperation with us!”

And judging by what the construction manager was implying, he, Qin Zhiqiang, had apparently offended someone he absolutely could not afford to cross.

”!!!” Qin Xun.

From last night to this morning—overnight—every single one of their family’s businesses had been hit.

He couldn’t help but recall the words the man had spoken to him as he left.

”You don’t need to come looking for me. I’ll come looking for you.”

At that moment, Qin Zhiqiang finally realized something was seriously wrong with his son!

Quickly, he put two and two together!

Qin Zhiqiang stared at his son and roared, ”Speak! Did you cause trouble for me outside?!”

At this point, even if Qin Xun wanted to hide it, he couldn’t.

He confessed everything that had happened at the bar, holding nothing back.

When Qin Zhiqiang heard that all of this was because his son had started a fight over a woman, he was so furious he almost fainted. He immediately wound up and delivered a massive slap right across his face.

”You motherfucker! You little bastard!”
