Super Rich by Doing as You Please

One of the celebrities asked in confusion, ”Huh? Where’d Teacher Song go?”

”That’s weird. She was just here a second ago.”

Everyone else was also a little confused. How had she vanished in the blink of an eye? One of her colleagues gave her a call.

”Hello, Xiaowei? Where did you run off to?”

The colleague said, ”We were all saying we should get together for dinner tonight.”

”You guys go on without me. I can’t make it. I have something else tonight, so I’ve already left. Have fun, and bye!” After saying her piece, Song Xiaowei hung up.

Her colleague back in the studio was speechless. ”...”

The male celebrity asked, ”What did Teacher Song say?”

”She said she has something on tonight and can’t make it.”

The colleague replied, ”She sounded like she was in a real hurry.”

”Oh.” A flicker of disappointment crossed the male celebrity’s eyes.

The whole reason he’d suddenly offered to treat everyone to dinner was to get a chance to talk to Song Xiaowei and get to know her.

But in the end, she’d just up and left.

A more perceptive colleague saw what the male celebrity was thinking. On the way out, he deliberately fell into step beside him and offered a kind warning, ”You should probably give up on that idea. She’s already taken.”

”Who is it?”

The male celebrity asked, puzzled. ”Someone in our circle?”

”I don’t think so. But let me tell you a little story, and you’ll understand why it’s best to stay away.”

The veteran host, who worked with Song Xiaowei, said, ”A while back, a manager at the station tried to make a move on her. First, he got fired. Then, he went straight to jail.”

”...” Hearing this, the male celebrity broke out in a cold sweat.

To ordinary people, celebrities like them were high and mighty. But to the truly rich and powerful, they were nothing.

If you pissed one of them off, they could blacklist you just like that.

Having finished the recording, Song Xiaowei rushed out of the studio and down the elevator, her heart burning with impatience.

She was terrified of making Xu Yun wait even one second longer than necessary.

The moment she stepped into the parking garage, she began looking around frantically.

Finally, she spotted Xu Yun’s car around a corner and ran over, pulling open the passenger door and hopping inside.

Xu Yun looked at her and smiled. ”Finished with the recording already?”

”Mhm.”

Song Xiaowei asked curiously, ”What are you watching?”

”One of your old variety shows.”

”...”

Hearing this, Song Xiaowei’s face flushed slightly. ”So? I didn’t embarrass you, did I?”

”Not at all. A pleasure to watch.”

Xu Yun said, ”I bet it won’t be long before you’re the star of your network, a household name.”

”Hee hee, it’s all thanks to you.”

Song Xiaowei smiled. ”If I hadn’t met you, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

”Opportunity favors the prepared. It’s because you’re hardworking and talented enough on your own.”

Xu Yun remembered the promise he’d made. He picked up a new notebook from the seat next to him and said, ”Oh, right. Can you sign something for me? A personalized autograph.”

”Huh???”

Song Xiaowei stared at the notebook, puzzled. ”You’re asking *me* for an autograph?”

”Mhm. Your signature is worth a pretty penny these days.”

Xu Yun teased her with a smile, ”Someone paid me 100 yuan for this. I already made a promise, and they’re waiting for it. Probably worried I’d run off with the money.”

Song Xiaowei was dumbfounded. ”(⊙o⊙)...”

After a moment of shock, Song Xiaowei smiled, took the notebook, and flipped it open. Pen in hand, she asked, ”What do you want me to write?”

”Just write, ’To XXX, keep studying hard and aiming high! Hope you get into your dream university soon!’”

As soon as Xu Yun finished speaking, Song Xiaowei finished writing.

Xu Yun glanced at the personalized autograph from Song Xiaowei and said, ”Okay, let’s go.”

Then he sent a text to the man.

A moment later, Xu Yun saw the middle-aged man squatting by the garage entrance. He pulled up in front of him, rolled down the window, and called out, ”Hey, man. Here’s that autograph for you.”

The man took the notebook and flipped it open for a look.

”Are you sure this is Song Xiaowei’s signature? You didn’t just write it yourself, did you?”

”Come on, man, what kind of question is that?”

Xu Yun said, ”If you don’t believe me, you can ask her yourself.”

”Sir, I did write that. It’s one hundred percent real,”

Song Xiaowei confirmed with a smile to the man outside the window. ”If you’re still not convinced, I can write you another one right now.”

”No, no, that’s not necessary!”

Only then did the middle-aged man notice Song Xiaowei in the passenger seat next to Xu Yun.

After staring at her for a moment, he exclaimed in astonishment, ”She really is your girlfriend!”

”See? Told you I wasn’t lying, man.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Now you can go home and surprise your daughter.”

”Thank you, thank you so much.”

”Take care!”

Xu Yun and Song Xiaowei drove away.

On the way, Xu Yun asked, ”What are you in the mood to eat?”

”I’m good with anything.”

”Seafood hot pot it is, then.”

The place Xu Yun took Song Xiaowei was the same restaurant he had taken Ning Qian to before. The food was great and it was in a good location.

Since they hadn’t made a reservation, the best private room—the one he’d had before—was already taken.

They had to settle for a small booth by the window in the main dining hall.

On the manager’s recommendation, they selected some of the restaurant’s finest lobsters and crabs, which had supposedly been flown in just that morning and were exceptionally fresh.

They also ordered some salmon sashimi.

For the current Xu Yun, meals like this had become routine. There was no need for ostentatious splurging or excessive waste; he just ordered what they could comfortably finish.

He skipped the alcohol, since he had to drive.

Even so, a meal like this still cost over 10,000.

Partway through the meal, Xu Yun stepped out to use the restroom and unexpectedly bumped into Yang Siqi, who was just coming out of the largest private room.

They were both a little surprised to see each other.

”So you were the one who booked this room.”

Xu Yun asked with a smile, ”Who are you having dinner with tonight? Any handsome guys in there?”
