Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Do you think I did that for personal revenge, Sir?”

Xu Yun replied calmly, ”I can be petty, but I never go looking for trouble, and I’m not an aggressive person. That is, unless someone really needs to be taught a lesson.”

”Excellent. My daughter has good taste.”

Xi Huai’an said, ”I like your character. If anything like this happens again, don’t hesitate to come to me if you think I can help.”

”I won’t hesitate.”

Xu Yun’s tone shifted. ”Sir, I imagine you didn’t call me up here just to talk about this, did you?”

”Yes, there’s one other thing.”

Xi Huai’an said, ”It’s about the financing for the Shenzhen Technology Company.”

”Have you run into some trouble?”

”The company you recommended is making some excessive demands. They’re asking for more than half of our shares. That’s not financing, it’s a backdoor acquisition.”

Xi Huai’an gave Xu Yun a long look and said, ”I’ll be frank with you. The Shenzhen company is a safety net I’m leaving for my daughter. If something were to happen to me one day, she and her mother wouldn’t have to struggle.”

”Sir, what do you mean ’if something were to happen’?”

”In this line of work, once you reach our level, no one’s hands are completely clean.”

Xi Huai’an sighed. ”One wrong move and you could expose a whole chain of problems. Or you could just be cast aside. It’s not impossible.”

After saying this, he watched Xu Yun’s expression closely.

This was another test.

By complaining and feigning a sense of powerlessness, he was trying to gauge Xu Yun’s reaction.

If Xu Yun made certain promises, then perhaps if trouble did come, Xi Huai’an could rely on the powerful figures in Xu Yun’s family to escape the worst of it.

”Sir, as long as you haven’t done anything truly heinous, you’ll be fine.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”If it comes to that, I’ll find you the best and most powerful lawyers in the country to handle your case.”

”And what if I have?”

”Then you’ll face whatever judgment is handed down. But you can rest assured about one thing.”

Xu Yun said confidently, ”As long as Xino is with me, I guarantee that she and her mother will want for nothing for the rest of their lives. They won’t suffer a single day of hardship.”

”Good. Hearing you say that puts my mind at ease.”

Although Xi Huai’an hadn’t gotten the answer he wanted, this one wasn’t bad either.

It also told him that if he really had done something heinous, Xu Yun would just stand by and watch, not lift a finger to help.

’Such integrity.’

’Even if I’ve misjudged him, a person like that can’t be truly bad!’

”In any case, I don’t want your friend’s company to swallow mine whole. I’d rather go bankrupt than agree to that.”

Xi Huai’an said, ”We have a video conference shortly. You should join. If you can, try to persuade them.

I’ll tell you my bottom line upfront: my daughter must retain 51% of the shares.”

He had, in fact, already looked into the Hong Kong investment firm that was looking to invest in his company.

The other party was a rising investment firm that had only recently emerged. Its registered capital alone was one hundred million, the person in charge was a woman, and its accounts were flush with a staggering five billion in capital.

He’d heard that not long ago, she had made a killing in the stock market, raking in several billion. Now, her company’s cash on hand was somewhere around seven or eight billion.

She’d earned the nickname ”the Goddess of Stocks.”

This alone showed that she was an incredibly formidable woman—bold and decisive.

And the crucial part was that she was still young, only around thirty years old!

Until now, all the negotiations had been handled by their subordinate teams. Today marked his first direct conversation with his counterpart, a video conference between the two heads.

”Alright, I understand.”

Xu Yun simply acknowledged the request without saying more. After pouring Xi Huai’an a cup of tea, he began to leisurely sip his own.

Xi Huai’an watched him, unable to discern what Xu Yun was thinking.

Soon enough, the video conference call came in.

There was a massive projection screen in Xi Huai’an’s study. The moment he accepted the call, three video feeds appeared before them.

One feed showed the main conference room at Xi Huai’an’s technology company, where senior executives from both sides sat facing each other.

Another showed Fu Baoying in her personal office.

And the last one was of the study where Xu Yun and Xi Huai’an were currently sitting.

The executives from the technology company were a bit surprised to see Xu Yun suddenly appear on screen.

They had never seen him before, but anyone who could sit and drink tea with the real boss was clearly no ordinary person.

The people on Fu Baoying’s side were even more in the dark.

But the most surprised of all was Fu Baoying herself!

She froze the instant she saw Xu Yun, her powerful demeanor immediately softening.

However, after everyone made their introductions and exchanged greetings, they all seemed to ignore Xu Yun’s presence.

Xi Huai’an didn’t introduce him, no one else asked, and Fu Baoying didn’t acknowledge that she knew him.

Then, a new round of negotiations began.

In the conference room, the teams from both sides went through the motions, fighting for their respective interests.

After a long negotiation, neither side was willing to back down, leading to the same deadlock as before.

At this point, it was time for the heads of both companies to step in. Whether the deal would proceed or fall apart now depended entirely on them.

Because of Xu Yun’s sudden appearance, Fu Baoying’s tone wasn’t as forceful as it could have been when she began to speak.

She spoke to Xi Huai’an with a somewhat probing tone and even made a few concessions on matters like management and board seats.

But on the issue of share distribution, which Xi Huai’an cared about most, she didn’t budge.

Just when everyone thought the talks were about to collapse again, the man who had been silent the entire time suddenly spoke up, interrupting them both.
