Super Rich by Doing as You Please

The moment Xu Yun’s system reward arrived...

It wasn’t Xu Yun who was most excited, but rather Vice Governor Gao and Jian Shiwai, all the way back in the Jiangcheng branch of the Construction Bank.

Just as they were racking their brains on how to explain the sharp drop in personal savings to the main branch’s leadership, a subordinate suddenly rushed in to report that a sum of one billion had just been deposited into Xu Yun’s account.

Hearing this, Vice Governor Gao, who had been in the middle of drinking tea, sprayed it everywhere.

He asked in shock, ”You’re telling me one billion was just deposited into Xu Yun’s account?”

”That’s right, Governor Gao.”

The subordinate replied, ”It came from an overseas fund, transferred through the Hong Kong Island Bank of China.”

”Does Manager Jian know about this?”

”No.”

The subordinate said, trying to curry favor, ”I came to report to you first, sir. I haven’t had a chance to inform Manager Jian yet.”

”Then go and tell her now.”

A wide grin spread across Vice Governor Gao’s face. ”And while you’re at it, take this packet of tea from my desk to her.”

He had been too anxious just a moment ago, and his tone with Jian Shiwai had been a bit harsh. The tea was a small peace offering to make her feel better.

”Of course, Governor Gao.”

When Jian Shiwai heard the news, she was stunned for a moment. Then, she personally went to check Xu Yun’s account. Only after confirming it with her own eyes did she truly believe it.

’He just spent 300 million, and someone immediately transferred one billion to him!’

’This is just unbelievable!’

’Who could possibly handle such a wild emotional rollercoaster in just half an hour?’

Beaming, Jian Shiwai returned to her office and once again began to seriously study the private jet sales brochure from before.

’Yes, I need to look into this carefully so I can help President Xu pick the model with the best value for money.’

’And who knows, I might even get to be a passenger on it myself!’

「In the Donghu Villa District.」

Xi Huai’an said to his wife, ”I haven’t seen Xino around lately. Where has she run off to? Give her a call and have her invite Xu Yun over for dinner. I have something to discuss with him.”

”That probably won’t work.”

Cheng Yuelan replied with a smile, ”Our daughter and Xu Yun went on a trip to Hang City. I have no idea when they’ll be back.”

”Oh.”

Xi Huai’an acknowledged, then asked, ”Did you tell our daughter they can stay at our villa there? It’s much nicer than a hotel.”

”Do you even need to ask? I’ve already arranged everything.”

Cheng Yuelan said, ”I had someone clean the whole place in advance and even hired a few housekeepers to take care of their daily needs for the time being.”

”Good. I might be a bit busy lately, so please keep an extra eye on things for our daughter.”

”I know.”

With that, Xi Huai’an turned and went upstairs.

The reason he’d wanted to invite Xu Yun over was to discuss the financing situation in Shenzhen.

The funds were in place, but the other party’s demands were a bit excessive.

In their few video conference calls, the woman’s stance had been very hardline.

’This wasn’t financing; it was clearly a veiled attempt to acquire their company and seize absolute control.’

That was something he could not agree to.

The company was the safety net he had built for his daughter and his family; he couldn’t just hand it over to someone else!

That’s why he wanted to speak with Xu Yun—to ask him to talk to the other party and see if they could both take a step back and compromise on certain conditions.

He was willing to give the other party 49% of the shares, as long as his daughter held the remaining 51%, retaining decision-making power and control of the company.

...

「In Hang City, Xu Yun and the others finished their tour of West Lake.」

After dinner that evening, he kept his word and actually took Xino and Lin Suiling to an internet cafe to ”eat chicken.”

Lin Suiling had been on the verge of cursing Xu Yun for being a degenerate.

But then she saw Xu Yun at the computer next to her, holding an 8x scope in-game, and said, speechless, ”The ’eat chicken’ you were talking about... it’s a game?”

”Yep. Winner winner, chicken dinner!”

Xu Yun retorted, ”Don’t tell me you’ve never played this game before?”

Xino chimed in with a laugh, ”It’s super fun! I just started playing, too.”

”Xu Yun, you’re so lame~”

Lin Suiling stood up. ”I’m not about to play a video game with you two. Have fun. I’m going home.”

”Am I the lame one, or is a certain someone just dirty-minded?”

Xu Yun turned to Xino. ”Isn’t that right, darling?”

”Yes! Everything my man says is right!”

”You two are sickening!”

Lin Suiling muttered a curse and left in a huff.

After Lin Suiling left, Xu Yun and Xino played for a little while longer before driving home.

And then, they played a *real* game of ”eat chicken.”

The next day, Xu Yun and Xino visited some of Hang City’s other tourist attractions.

In the morning, they went to Wuzhen, where they experienced an authentic Jiangnan Water Village and rode in a black-canopied boat. Afterward, at an antique shop, Xino bought some old coins for her dad.

Whether they were authentic was anyone’s guess, but the shopkeeper insisted they were, and she spent tens of thousands of yuan on them.

Xu Yun actually had a way to tell if they were real, but he saw no need to.

As long as Xino was happy with her purchase, that was all that mattered. If she thought they were real, then they were real.

Besides, Xi Huai’an, the one receiving the gift, wouldn’t care about the authenticity of the coins. As long as they came from his daughter, they were priceless.

He would feel it was worth it even if she’d spent hundreds of thousands, let alone tens of thousands.

Xu Yun, however, wasn’t quite so magnanimous.

He unexpectedly spotted a piece of Ancient Jade in a shop. To determine its authenticity, he spent 30 million to redeem an Appraisal Skill for himself.

He wouldn’t have known without checking, but one look left him ecstatic.

The Jade Pendant, hidden amongst a pile of fakes and noticed by no one, was actually an authentic piece of Ancient Jade from the Tang Dynasty! Judging by its style, it was the type worn to ward off evil spirits.

So, feigning casual interest, he bought it for 2,000 yuan.
