Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Back at the martial arts hall, no one could understand why Xu Yun suddenly wanted to challenge Master Liang.

They thought he’d lost his mind.

Especially when they heard Xu Yun’s line, ”We’ll not only determine a victor, but also decide life and death,” everyone just cringed into silence.

But Xu Yun wasn’t the least bit embarrassed.

Because as long as he wasn’t embarrassed, the awkwardness was someone else’s problem.

Master Liang cleared his throat tactfully. ”Young man,” he said, ”it’s just a friendly spar. Nothing so serious. There’s no need for a life-or-death battle. We’ll stop at first touch.”

”Fine, then.”

Xu Yun agreed reluctantly. ”Since you insist, I’ll try to go a little easy on you.”

Master Liang was speechless.

”Alright, buddy, that’s enough. We get it, you have a sense of humor.”

Ruan Qingnian finally broke into a laugh. ”How about we just call it a day? I’ll treat you to dinner and drinks. Let’s stop teasing Master Liang. He’s a respected senior, after all.”

”Young Master Ruan, since you don’t believe in me, how about we make a bet?”

Xu Yun turned to him. ”If I win, you have to call me ’Big Bro’ whenever you see me. If I lose, I’ll give you 10 million!”

Young Master Ruan was dumbfounded. ”???”

Standing nearby, Lin Wanzhou rolled his eyes the moment he heard this.

’It’s over,’ he thought. ’He’s having one of his episodes again, just giving money away!’

’If I were his old man, I’d probably have a heart attack from the sheer frustration!’

’I’ve seen people waste money, but I’ve never seen anyone waste it quite like this!’

Zhang Jin and his wife were also stunned by the massive bet Xu Yun had proposed.

’What on earth is this guy thinking?’

’Is he really that confident?’

’Setting aside whether he even has that much money, even if he, Zhang Jin, believed Xu Yun had a few tricks up his sleeve, this was Master Liang they were talking about. He was one of Yip Man’s direct disciples, a titan of Wing Chun, and currently the publicly acknowledged number one martial artist on all of Hong Kong Island.’

’Didn’t you just see your friend fight the man? Did you not see what happened?’

’Don’t you have any idea of your own limitations?’

’You think you can beat him just because you learned some old-folks-in-the-park Tai Chi from a Daoist for two or three years? What are you smoking?’

Ruan Qingnian was stunned for a moment, then asked in disbelief, ”Brother, are you serious?”

That was ten million!

’His family was considered wealthy, but even they wouldn’t dare to throw money around like this.’

’Forget him, even your average trust-fund kid wouldn’t dare make a bet like that.’

’Ten million on a casual bet?’

’And it was a guaranteed loss, at that!’

Xu Yun said, ”So, are you taking the bet or not?”

”I’m in!”

Young Master Ruan agreed instantly.

’There was no way he could lose on this bet, no matter how he looked at it!’

’If he lost, all he had to do was call someone ’Big Bro’. But if he won, that was ten million!’

He didn’t know where Xu Yun’s confidence came from, but he knew Master Liang, and his faith was firmly with Master Liang.

Seeing that Ruan Qingnian had agreed, Xu Yun wasted no more time. He turned to Master Liang with a provocative tone. ”You’re the senior. I’ll let you have the first move.”

”!!!”

Master Liang had originally intended to go easy. His visitor was a guest, after all, and he had already redeemed his school’s honor. He’d planned to just humor the young man for a few exchanges.

But Xu Yun’s impossibly arrogant attitude, as if Master Liang were a complete nobody, was starting to genuinely anger him.

’Hmph. I’ll give him a little taste of pain and teach him a proper lesson,’ he thought.

’These young people go out, flaunt their family’s money, and because everyone lets them have their way, they forget the immensity of heaven and earth!’

Lifting the hem of his robe with one hand, he shot forward like an arrow, driving his elbow straight towards Xu Yun’s chest.

He moved so fast it was over in the blink of an eye.

Seeing this, the onlookers’ hearts leaped into their throats for Xu Yun.

’Master Liang isn’t holding back at all!’

’If that blow lands true, Xu Yun will be knocked out for the count!’

As Xu Yun’s unofficial bodyguard, Lin Wanzhou could never let that happen. He had just started to move, preparing to intercept the blow for Xu Yun, when...

A miracle happened.

Facing Master Liang’s surprise attack, Xu Yun felt as if his body were moving on its own. With a single, fluid sidestep, he effortlessly dodged the blow.

Master Liang froze, not having expected that at all.

Everyone else watching was stunned as well. They never thought Xu Yun would actually be able to dodge it.

Master Liang’s expression soured. After his first strike missed, he immediately attacked again.

Fast, precise, and ruthless!

But to Xu Yun, Master Liang—a man whose speed was astonishing to everyone else—seemed to be moving in slow motion. He could see every single movement with perfect clarity.

His opponent’s every action was as if it had been slowed down tenfold.

Xu Yun had more than enough time and ability to dodge.

Then, seizing an opening, he began his counterattack. A series of techniques, ingrained and impossibly familiar in his mind, flowed out one after another, forcing Master Liang onto the defensive.

Xu Yun’s Tai Chi was worlds apart from the version practiced by the grannies and grandpas in the park. They weren’t even in the same league.

As the fight went on, Master Liang’s expression grew increasingly grim.

’To think this young man is so terrifyingly skilled!’

Meanwhile, the four spectators watching from the sidelines were completely dumbfounded.

”What the hell? He actually knows what he’s doing!”

”Whoa, why does it look like Master Liang is on the losing end?”

”Holy crap, Master Liang just took a hit!”

”Wait, did Master Liang just get punched in the eye?!”

”It’s over. He just went flying and hit the floor.”

Ruan Qingnian stared at Master Liang lying on the ground, his face a mask of utter disbelief.

However, Lin Wanzhou and Zhang Jin, being martial arts experts, saw things differently than Young Master Ruan.

As they looked at the normally playful and casual Xu Yun, they couldn’t help but swallow nervously.

Only they truly understood just how powerful this guy was.

”Master Liang, are you alright?”

The fight over, Xu Yun retracted his hands. He stepped forward to graciously help the other man up and said with a smile, ”My apologies. I got a little carried away and couldn’t pull back in time. I’m very sorry.”

”I’m not seriously injured.”

Having lost, Master Liang felt utterly humiliated. He looked at Xu Yun, refusing to accept the outcome. ”I was careless just now,” he said. ”Let’s go again.”

”No, no, let’s not. It was a narrow victory as it is.”
