Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Of course. I enjoy making new friends.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Especially a beautiful and elegant lady like you, President Fu.”

”Oh, I’m old now. I’m in my thirties; I can’t compare to those twenty-year-old girls you young men have around.”

Fu Baoying laughed self-deprecatingly. ”These days, I’m just happy if you young folks don’t look down on me.”

As the two were speaking, Xu Yun’s phone received a text message notification from his bank.

The money had arrived.

After taxes and some processing fees, the prize money totaled over 180 million!

Adding his previous balance, his card now held over 200 million RMB!

Just then, Fu Baoying’s male secretary knocked and entered. He returned the card to Xu Yun and said, ”President Fu, all of Mr. Xu’s prize money has been exchanged. The total is 182 million yuan.”

Fu Baoying nodded and said to Xu Yun, ”Mr. Xu, you can check your account now to see if the amount is correct.”

”No need. I trust you, President Fu.”

Xu Yun stood up. ”Since the money has been exchanged, I won’t disturb you any longer, President Fu. I’ll be going now.”

”Of course, Mr. Xu. You’re welcome back anytime.”

Fu Baoying stood to see him off. ”I’ll have my secretary drive you back.”

”That won’t be necessary. We have our own car, and a friend is waiting for us downstairs.”

After declining her offer, Xu Yun left the office with Ruan Qingnian.

”President Fu.”

The male secretary asked in confusion, ”Who exactly is this Mr. Xu? How can he be so incredible?”

In the eyes of insiders like them, there was no such thing as a lucky streak in horse racing.

By all rights, every horse race could be manipulated in advance, and it was especially easy for the senior management of the Horse Club, who acted as the house.

And in fact, the last three races today were supposed to have been fixed.

But then Xu Yun came out of nowhere. Not only did the results change, but someone openly walked away with 200 million in prize money. That was nearly two weeks’ worth of revenue for their racecourse.

”I’m not sure. He’s from the Mainland.”

After a moment’s hesitation, Fu Baoying said, ”Go and investigate his recent activities on Hong Kong Island. Find out what he’s been doing. The more detailed, the better. Get me a report.”

’She had a feeling that this Xu Yun was no simple character.’

’An ordinary rich second-generation kid, and so young, would never be this calm after suddenly winning over 200 million!’

’From the moment he walked in to the moment he left, throughout their entire conversation, she hadn’t detected the slightest significant change in his expression. He always gave off a very casual air. It was as if he wasn’t the one who had just won over 200 million.’

”Also, aren’t we holding a gathering soon?”

Fu Baoying said, ”Have the person in charge of it send an invitation to President Ruan of Huayi.”

”President Fu, according to the requirements, his membership level doesn’t qualify, does it?”

”It’s fine. Just say I authorized it.”

Fu Baoying continued, ”And about him winning over 200 million today, find some influential media outlets with high traffic and publicize this heavily. I want everyone in Hong Kong, and even the Mainland, to know about it.

But be careful. You can hint at who it is, but don’t directly expose his identity. Understand?”

”Understood, President Fu. I’ll get right on it.”

「Meanwhile, in an office at a Construction Bank branch in Jiangcheng.」

Vice Governor Gao was getting antsy.

He hurriedly had someone summon Jian Shiwai again. The reason was that there was an issue with Xu Yun’s personal account.

Because they had given him an account with no transaction limits, the funds had been fluctuating wildly over the past few days, with tens of millions moving in and out at a time. The activity was somewhat abnormal.

At noon on the first day, 15 million in overseas funds were suddenly transferred into Xu Yun’s account. That evening, another 20 million came in, pushing his balance past the 100 million mark.

But their celebration was short-lived. The next day, they were notified of a 50 million yuan expenditure from his account.

Then, on the afternoon of the third day, another 10 million was spent.

In an instant, the account was back down to just tens of millions.

This time, however, they had managed to find out that the debiting account belonged to a racecourse in Xiangjiang!

In other words, Xu Yun was probably on Hong Kong Island betting on horses!

But less than half an hour later, another 50 million in cash was transferred to him from an overseas fund.

With all the back and forth, not only had Xu Yun’s savings not decreased, but they had once again surpassed 100 million.

But what happened next made them lose their composure.

Because suddenly, 100 million was spent from Xu Yun’s account, and in an instant, only a little over 20 million remained.

This shocked Vice Governor Gao so much that he shot up from his seat!

He immediately summoned Jian Shiwai, wanting her to quickly call Xu Yun and ask what was going on.

Jian Shiwai wanted to call him too.

But before she could even dial, the remaining 20-odd million in the account was also suddenly spent, leaving only a few million.

Checking the reason, the debited item was again the racecourse account.

This meant Xu Yun was still at the racecourse, placing bets.

From over 100 million to just a few million, all in the blink of an eye—a matter of ten-odd minutes!

”Manager Jian, hurry up and call President Xu!”

Vice Governor Gao wasn’t worried about Xu Yun spending the money; he was worried about what happened to that suddenly vanished 100 million.

The problem was, his bank couldn’t find any detailed information about the destination account, nor could they trace it.

Unfortunately, Jian Shiwai’s call didn’t go through.

She said to Vice Governor Gao, ”President Xu isn’t answering. He turned his phone off for this trip, saying he didn’t want to be disturbed by anyone.”

”But what about the money?”

Vice Governor Gao said anxiously, ”A personal savings account with over 100 million is suddenly gone, with only a few million left. How are we supposed to meet our year-end targets!

Do you think... could President Xu have been poached by another bank on Hong Kong Island? Did he just transfer the money to switch banks?”

”That’s unlikely, right?”

”Then you tell me why this is happening!”

Just as the two of them were discussing it, Xu Yun’s account activity changed again.

The female teller who had been monitoring Xu Yun’s account exclaimed in surprise, ”Gao Xing, a deposit of 180 million was just transferred into President Xu’s account.”

”Who transferred it? What’s the reason for the transaction?”

Jian Shiwai walked over, took control of the computer, and began to investigate.

”Gao Xing, it seems to have come from the account of a horse racing organization. The reason listed is... prize money?”

Jian Shiwai paused, stunned, and asked uncertainly, ”This can’t be the prize money he won from the bets he just placed, can it?”

”...”

Vice Governor Gao swallowed hard, then said, ”Check the official website for the Hong Kong Island racecourse. See if anyone won that much.”

”Right away, Gao Xing.”

Jian Shiwai immediately started searching on her phone. When she pulled up the Horse Racing Club’s official website, a new, eye-catching winning announcement was displayed prominently at the top.

[A Mr. Xu from the Mainland turned 20 million into a 220 million Hong Kong Dollar grand prize at the Xiangjiang racecourse by consecutively picking two first-place finishers!]

”...”

Jian Shiwai turned to Gao Xing, her expression complex, and said, ”It seems a man with the surname Xu just won a 220 million grand prize.”

’A man with the surname Xu... who else could it be but Xu Yun!’

Vice Governor Gao was rendered utterly speechless.
