Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”What are you thinking about?”

Lin Wanzhou sighed. ”This place is a fine line between heaven and hell. I’ve known a lot of rich people who came here, got hooked, and couldn’t pull themselves out. They ended up losing everything.”

”I know what you’re getting at.”

Xu Yun turned his head and smiled. ”Don’t worry, I know my limits. I’ve just never been here before and wanted to check it out.”

”That’s good.”

Lin Wanzhou was cautioning Xu Yun because he spent money so extravagantly. He was genuinely afraid Xu Yun would get carried away here and fall into the trap.

’But judging by his demeanor, it seems unlikely.’

’But you never know.’

Lin Wanzhou considered Xu Yun a friend, not just an employer. So, in his mind, he set a bottom line for himself—or rather, for Xu Yun.

’The moment his losses exceed the money he made on Hong Kong Island, I’ll stop him immediately. Even if I have to use force, I’ll tie him up and drag him away if I must.’

’If I can’t handle him on my own, I’ll call my old comrades for backup.’

He couldn’t just stand by and watch his friend walk the path to ruin.

”By the way, Old Lin, when is Young Master Ruan getting here?”

Xu Yun asked curiously, ”Did you ask him?”

”Soon. He took a boat. He just cleared customs and is on his way now.”

”Alright, let’s get some rest first.”

「Half an hour later」

Ruan Qingnian arrived at Xu Yun’s hotel room. The moment he walked in, he said, ”Brother Xu, why are you staying here?”

”What’s wrong with this place?” Xu Yun was a little confused.

”There was a murder in this hotel once. It’s bad luck. We usually don’t stay here when we come to play.”

Ruan Qingnian continued, ”Also, the Galaxy casino downstairs is a ruthless racket. Anyone who goes in has almost no chance of coming out ahead.”

”...” Xu Yun was speechless.

Ruan Qingnian said, ”Come on, let’s check out. I’ll take you to another hotel, another casino to play at.”

”Sounds good.”

It pays to listen to good advice.

And so, the three of them abandoned the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, and Ruan Qingnian led them directly to the MGM Macau Hotel.

On the way, Xu Yun even received a reward from the system.

Because he had acted as he pleased, abandoning the expensive booking fee to change hotels, he was rewarded with a bonus of one million.

There were many guest rooms here. Although each was luxuriously decorated, they were only 43 square meters in size.

Of course, Young Master Ruan wouldn’t let Xu Yun stay in a room like that.

He told Xu Yun that hidden within this hotel was a mysterious Moroccan palace called Yonghua Mansion, which was off-limits to the public.

Furthermore, it was invitation-only and members-only; there was no other way to book a room there.

But Ruan Qingnian, relying on his father’s billion-dollar fortune, had access via an MGM Black Gold Lion King VVIP card and booked an executive suite.

The suite was 570 square meters, complete with a swimming pool, a gym, and various other amenities. The environment was excellent, hailed as a Shangri-La in Macau.

Young Master Ruan could act so boldly because he was essentially following his father’s orders, so he wasn’t the least bit afraid of getting chewed out when he got back.

They didn’t even need to queue. The hotel sent a dedicated staff member to their suite to handle the check-in process. Afterward, Ruan Qingnian led the other two downstairs to walk around, pointing out the features of the surrounding area.

As Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou walked through a carpet display corridor in the first-floor lobby, they saw a carpet used by the Qian Long Emperor, each thread inlaid with gold.

’Needless to say, these Qing Palace carpets must have been looted back in the day.’

At the entrance, they also saw a giant golden lion statue, which they heard was assembled from over one hundred thousand sheets of gold leaf, looking majestic, powerful, and distinguished.

After that, they had dinner together and went out again.

By then, dusk had fallen, and the world outside was a dazzling kaleidoscope of colorful lights.

Young Master Ruan said that Macau at night was the real Macau—a world of hedonism and extravagance.

But Xu Yun felt differently.

’If you have enough money, you can live a life of hedonism and extravagance anywhere.’

That night, Xu Yun naturally wanted to check out the casino.

Young Master Ruan led the two of them through the complex, heading toward the casino.

Just as they reached the entrance, Xu Yun saw many men and women in suits sleeping on long benches, looking as listless and defeated as beggars.

Young Master Ruan explained, ”These people have all lost their money. They don’t have a hotel room anymore and were kicked out, so they can only rest here.”

”...” Xu Yun fell silent.

Lin Wanzhou looked at these people without a shred of sympathy in his eyes, as if he were looking at corpses.

After entering the casino, Xu Yun was once again struck by the scene before him.

The entire hall was magnificent and brilliantly colored, bustling with a lively, dense crowd. Countless card tables and all sorts of gambling machines filled his vision.

Young Master Ruan was already accustomed to it. He stood to the side and began explaining some of the casino’s basics to Xu Yun.

He especially pointed out the unique types of professionals operating within the casino.

”First, you have the spotters—both male and female—who are responsible for scouting out customers.”

”The high-level spotters frequent the VIP rooms. They often pose as customers to approach you, and they’ll even sit next to you with chips and play alongside you. Once they’ve earned your trust, they ’butcher the pig.’”

”Then there are the common money changers, who make a profit from your transaction fees.”

”Next are the handlers, who manage the spotters. After their subordinates find a target, the handlers are responsible for negotiating the terms with the customer.”

”Finally, in the VIP rooms, you have the junket agents who handle the chip rolling, and the junket operators who manage them. Their main job is to deal with socialites, dignitaries, and the elite.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”You seem to know a lot. You come here often?”

”I come here a lot, but I just play around casually. The amounts aren’t large, and I win some, I lose some.”

Young Master Ruan replied, ”It’s usually my no-good friends who come here and lose a lot. They get carried away easily.”

”Let’s go. We should exchange some Hong Kong Dollars for chips and test the waters.”
