Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”You?”

Lin Wanzhou scoffed. ”After your little escapade last night, your legs are probably jelly. You think you can still fight?”

”Don’t you underestimate me, alright?”

Xu Yun retorted, ”Forget two. Even if it were three last night, I could still fight right now!”

Lin Wanzhou was speechless.

He’d seen shameless people before, but never anyone *this* shameless.

The two of them walked into the martial arts gym as they chatted.

There weren’t many people inside today. In the main training area, there were only four others.

Xu Yun glanced over and saw Zhang Jin, Cai Shaofen, and Young Master Ruan, whom he’d met before. The last person was a middle-aged man in a blue traditional long robe, likely the gym’s master. He looked to be in his forties or fifties.

’He has the air of a master, but who knows if he’s the real deal,’ Xu Yun thought.

’Or maybe he’s the expert Zhang Jin brought to back him up and reclaim his pride!’

After entering, Xu Yun took the initiative to greet everyone.

Young Master Ruan was the first to walk over.

He threw an arm around Xu Yun’s shoulder and said in his clumsy Mandarin, ”Brother, I heard your friend was setting up a match with Zhang Jin, so I tagged along to watch. You don’t mind, do you?”

”If Mr. Zhang Jin doesn’t mind, then of course I don’t.”

After saying this, Xu Yun turned to Zhang Jin and his wife and introduced Lin Wanzhou.

Lin Wanzhou stepped forward with a smile. ”Mr. Zhang Jin, it’s a great honor to spar with you. I hope you’ll offer me plenty of guidance.”

”Not at all. It’s just a friendly spar.”

Zhang Jin said humbly, ”Aside from acting, I haven’t fought anyone in a long time. If I’m no match for you, I hope Master Lin will go easy on me.”

”Enough with the pleasantries. Let’s just get to it.”

Ruan Qingnian urged from the side, ”I’m dying to see which of you is better.”

...

Zhang Jin shot him an annoyed glance.

’Damn it,’ he thought. ’If it weren’t for your father, I wouldn’t even give you the time of day!’

Hearing this, Lin Wanzhou also said, ”Then let’s begin.”

”Alright.”

Zhang Jin agreed, gave a cupped-fist salute, and stood opposite Lin Wanzhou, falling into a fighting stance.

Xu Yun yelled, ”Go, Old Lin!”

”Go, honey!” Cai Shaofen shouted, not to be outdone.

Zhang Jin extended a hand, striking a classic pose from the movies.

”Please!”

Seeing this, Lin Wanzhou wasted no time and lunged forward, swinging his fists.

In an instant, the two clashed.

There were no flashy theatrics. Lin Wanzhou’s moves were direct, emphasizing speed, precision, and brutality.

His fists cut through the air.

As the one on the defensive, Zhang Jin hadn’t expected his opponent’s explosive power. Lin Wanzhou fought without any discernible style, which made him difficult to handle. Zhang Jin didn’t dare let his guard down for a second.

Meanwhile, the gym’s master, who was watching from the sidelines, had a grave expression and a slight frown.

He could sense a sharp killing intent emanating from the man’s fists.

That wasn’t something you could develop just by training for health and fitness.

This man had truly been in life-or-death battles before. He had seen blood!

Barring any surprises, Zhang Jin would be defeated soon.

Xu Yun didn’t understand the technicalities, but he was stunned as he watched them fight.

He’d never really believed in kung fu before.

But now, he was a believer.

While Old Lin’s fighting style was completely undisciplined, the sheer speed and power of his body were ferocious!

Zhang Jin, by contrast, had proper form and was by no means weak.

However, anyone could see that Old Lin clearly had the upper hand.

Cai Shaofen watched her husband nervously and shouted, ”Go, honey!”

Unfortunately, Zhang Jin eventually failed to defend himself. Lin Wanzhou found an opening, took him down with a shoulder throw, and applied the ”Death Strangle.”

Since this was just a spar, Lin Wanzhou obviously didn’t apply lethal force.

After subduing his opponent, he immediately released him, stood up, and said with a smile, ”Mr. Zhang Jin, thank you for the match.”

...

Zhang Jin rubbed his chest, looking dejected.

Cai Shaofen immediately rushed forward. ”Honey, are you okay?” she asked, concerned.

”I’m fine.”

Zhang Jin looked at Lin Wanzhou, embarrassed. ”Master Lin, I concede.”

”Brother Xu, your friend is a beast!”

Young Master Ruan was also stunned. ”If he were in a triad, he could probably take on several guys at once.”

To get a foothold in Hong Kong Island’s entertainment industry, many of the bigwigs had ancestors with ties to the triads.

As a result, Ruan Qingnian was a bit influenced by that, carrying a hint of a gangster’s swagger.

It’s what you’d call ’local color’!

After their spar, Xu Yun assumed the contest was over.

But to his surprise, the gym master suddenly stepped forward and said to Lin Wanzhou, ”Master Lin, I’d like to have a round with you, if you don’t mind.”

’Zhang Jin lost using Wing Chun in my own gym. Won’t people think my Wing Chun is weak?’

’That’s unacceptable.’

’I have to reclaim that pride!’

Faced with the master’s challenge, Lin Wanzhou looked to Xu Yun.

After all, he was currently Xu Yun’s part-time bodyguard and was on his payroll.

Seeing this, Xu Yun laughed. ”Old Lin, why are you looking at me? Fight if you want to. It’s not my reputation on the line if you lose.”

With Xu Yun’s approval, Lin Wanzhou turned to the master and said, ”Alright. I’ll fight you.”

This time, the two were truly evenly matched, trading blows back and forth!

Xu Yun couldn’t help but marvel inwardly, ’This gym master is the real deal!’

”Your friend is probably going to lose,”

Young Master Ruan said with a smile. ”Master Liang is a representative figure of Wing Chun, a direct disciple of the great master Yip Man. His skills are incredible.”

Xu Yun was floored. ”???”

’Holy crap, he’s the famous Master Liang Shaohong!’

And sure enough, Lin Wanzhou was soon narrowly defeated.

Liang Shaohong retracted his fists and offered a cupped-fist salute with a smile. ”Master Lin, a narrow victory. Thank you for the match.”

”You’re very skilled. I’m no match for you. I concede!”

Lin Wanzhou was very forthright. A loss was a loss, and he made no excuses.

’The man’s a true master!’

’But if this were a real battlefield,’ he thought, ’if we met in the wild for a no-holds-barred, one-on-one fight to the death, I don’t think I’d necessarily lose.’

’But this was just a friendly spar.’

Xu Yun was speechless.

’Ah, so shameless!’ he fumed internally.

’We youngsters are just having a friendly match, and you, some grandmaster, just have to jump in? That’s going too far!’

’No!’

’You think you can get even? Well, I’m going to get even, too!’

’With a system on my side, you think I’m afraid of you?’

’System?’

Xu Yun called out in his mind.

[In the presence of a martial arts master, strong emotional fluctuations have been detected in the Host. To uphold the Host’s principle of ”Do as You Please,” the Host may spend 50,000,000 to redeem the Martial Arts Technique: ”Modified Tai Chi” x1.]

[Does the Host wish to redeem?]

”Redeem!”

Although it pained him to spend 50 million on a single Skill, money could always be earned back. Pride, however, was priceless!

[Redemption successful. Commencing empowerment...]

As soon as Xu Yun agreed, he felt a gentle warmth spread through him. An indescribable sensation washed over his body, seeping into every pore, and it felt incredibly pleasant.

A few seconds later.

[Martial Arts Technique empowerment complete. The Host may now use it.]

”Ah!”

He couldn’t help but let out a comfortable moan, causing everyone to turn and look at him in confusion.

Xu Yun gave an awkward laugh and quickly changed the subject.

He turned to Master Liang and said, ”Master Liang, after watching you all for so long, my hands are starting to itch. I’d like to have a friendly spar with you.”

”???”

Master Liang, Lin Wanzhou, Zhang Jin, and the others were utterly flabbergasted when they heard him.

’Is he challenging Master Liang?’

Ruan Qingnian was the first to speak up. ”Brother, you’re not joking, are you?”

”Do I look like I’m joking?”

Xu Yun smiled faintly. ”In my spare time, I spent a few years learning Tai Chi from a Daoist in the mountains. I’d just like Master Liang to help me see how I measure up.”

He claimed he just wanted to test his skills, but everyone could see the truth: he was unconvinced, and just like Master Liang before him, he wanted to get even!

Faced with another challenge, Master Liang couldn’t possibly back down.

Besides, one look told him Xu Yun was just some rich kid, not a martial artist. To him, the young man looked as if a strong gust of wind could knock him over.

’Still, if the boy isn’t afraid of embarrassing himself and insists on fighting, I might as well indulge him.’

’A martial artist has to understand social etiquette, after all!’

”Very well.”

Master Liang agreed. ”But fists and feet have no eyes. If I fail to hold back and accidentally injure you, don’t blame me for an old man bullying the young.”

”I understand.”

Xu Yun stood his ground, an inexplicable confidence surging through him now that his body had been empowered by the system.

He recalled a line from the character Feng Yuxiu in Wang Baoqiang’s movie *Kung Fu Jungle*. Beckoning with his finger, he said, ”Come on. Let’s not only determine who’s superior, but also who lives and who dies!”

Master Liang was speechless.

Hearing this familiar and classic movie line, the others were left completely speechless as well.

Their jaws dropped.

Good grief, now he was getting into character!
