Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Ruan Qingnian: ”No, but I won’t back down. They wouldn’t dare do anything serious to us. We’ll just get roughed up a bit at most.”

”You’re a loyal one, kid.”

Xu Yun said, ”Then do what I’m doing. We’ll watch from the back. If Old Lin starts to struggle, we’ll jump in.”

”Hey! Are you three done talking or what?”

A short distance away, the man with the gold chain said impatiently, ”Stop dragging your feet! Are you gonna pay up or not?!”

”We’re done.”

Xu Yun stepped forward and replied defiantly, ”Kneel and call me ’Grandpa,’ and I’ll give you the money!”

”Fine, fine! You wanna do this the hard way instead of the easy way? You’re asking to die, aren’t you?”

Hearing this, the man roared, ”I’m gonna have to teach you a lesson today! Get ’em, boys!”

Watching the mob rush over, Lin Wanzhou took a step forward, pulled a small knife from his pocket, and charged right at them.

Even though they were outnumbered, their opponents were all bare-handed.

Lin Wanzhou, now armed with a knife, caught them completely off guard.

Plus, Lin Wanzhou’s movements were fast, precise, and ruthless. Every time he dodged a punch, his knife would lash out.

He steadily stabbed each of his targets in the limbs, swiftly pulling the blade out each time. They screamed in pain and collapsed to the ground, instantly neutralized.

The most arrogant of the bunch had it the worst. Lin Wanzhou stabbed him directly in both legs, forcing him to his knees. Blood gushed out, and he couldn’t get up, let alone run.

He stared at the murderous-looking Lin Wanzhou, so terrified he nearly pissed his pants.

They were just a bunch of low-life thugs, a disorganized mob. They were only here to help the woman scare some people and get some cash. They never expected a real fight, let alone one where their lives were on the line!

Lin Wanzhou put his knife away, surprised at how easily they had been defeated.

’With skills like these, they call themselves gangsters? They go around threatening people?’

’Good thing I just nicked their arms and legs. No fatal wounds. All they’ll need is a trip to the hospital to stop the bleeding, get a few stitches, and have it bandaged up.’

Xu Yun and Young Master Ruan hadn’t expected the fight to be over so quickly either.

Young Master Ruan’s expression was complex.

’In a real fight, Old Lin is way more terrifying than when he fought Master Liang at the gym!’

’He really is a badass who’s killed on the battlefield!’

The mastermind behind it all, the woman, was now so scared her legs gave out. She collapsed to the ground, staring at them in terror and crying, ”Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me!”

”Shut up!” Young Master Ruan slapped her across the face, and the woman immediately went quiet.

Xu Yun gave a tactical cough.

He walked over and squatted down in front of the man and woman. ”Want me to call the police for you? Maybe an ambulance?”

”No, no, that’s not necessary.”

The man’s face was pale with fear. ”We... we just fell on our own. This has nothing to do with you, Mr. Xu.”

”Oh?”

Xu Yun turned his head. ”Old Lin, let me borrow your knife.”

Lin Wanzhou didn’t know what he was up to, but he handed it over with a warning. ”If you’re going to stab someone, don’t aim for the torso. They could easily bleed out and die.”

”Boss! Sir!”

The moment the man heard this, he saw Xu Yun holding the knife and immediately started crying and begging for mercy. ”I was wrong! I’m sorry, I’m so sorry! Please, just let me go this one time!”

Xu Yun looked at the puddle spreading beneath the man and was speechless.

’Did he really just piss himself?’

He let out a sigh.

’If Old Lin hadn’t been here today, or if I didn’t have the system, I might be the one kneeling and begging for mercy right now.’

’I wouldn’t dare commit murder, arson, or any other serious crimes.’

’But what happened today... this counts as self-defense, right?’

”Relax, I’m not going to stab you.”

Xu Yun turned to the woman beside him. She was so scared her lips were trembling.

”Sir, I know I was wrong, too! Please let me go! I’ll never do it again!”

”You don’t know you were wrong. You’re just afraid you’re about to die.”

With a single motion, Xu Yun gently slid the knife into her thigh, avoiding the artery. It wasn’t deep.

”AHH—”

The woman groaned in pain.

Seeing that the woman had gone quiet, drenched in a cold sweat from the pain, Xu Yun stood up. He turned to Ruan Qingnian and asked, ”Can you handle this?”

”I can!”

Young Master Ruan said, ”Brother Xu, you and Old Lin should go. I’ll take care of the aftermath.”

”Alright then.”

Xu Yun said, ”Old Lin and I will head out then. Just let me know how much it costs in the end, and I’ll transfer you the money.”

”Don’t worry about it. It won’t be much.”

After Xu Yun and Old Lin had driven off, Young Master Ruan walked over to the man and woman with a grim expression and gave them each a few hard slaps.

Then, he pulled out his phone and called his dad for help.

Handle it? He couldn’t handle shit. He had just been bluffing to save face.

For something like this, he still needed his old man to step in.

Ruan Guohua was at a golf course, attending a small gathering for the club. The attendees were a dozen or so senior honorary members.

Of course, Fu Baoying, the one who had invited him, was also present.

The two of them were taking a break and chatting.

”President Ruan, did you know your son has made a new friend recently?”

Fu Baoying said, ”The day before yesterday, he and your son won over two hundred million at the racecourse I manage and walked away with it.”

”President Fu, I only just found out myself.”

Ruan Guohua laughed. ”I truly didn’t expect Xiaoxu’s luck to be so good.”

”His luck was quite good indeed.”

Fu Baoying said meaningfully, ”He hit two long shots in a row. Wouldn’t you say that’s impressive?”

”President Fu, you’re not going to ask me to pay you back that two hundred million, are you?”

Ruan Guohua sighed. ”Even if you sold me, I wouldn’t have that much money. Besides, that’s money Xiaoxu won. It has nothing to do with me.”

”You’re joking, President Ruan. It’s only two hundred million. The Horse Club hardly considers that a significant amount.”

Fu Baoying said, ”I was just thinking that you have such a good friend from the Mainland, and yet you haven’t said a word or introduced him to everyone.”

”President Fu, it’s not that I don’t want to. It’s just that the man is very low-key and doesn’t want to be disturbed.”

Ruan Guohua feigned difficulty. ”Besides, he’s my son’s friend. It’s not my place as an elder to get involved in his affairs.”

”What’s his background? Care to share?”

”I don’t know.”

Ruan Guohua said, ”When my son gets back, I’ll ask him for you and see what he knows.”

”...”

”Oh, right, President Fu. There’s something that, as a member of the Horse Club, I feel I must tell you.”

”What is it?”

”Actually, on that day, Xiaoxu didn’t just win two bets. He bet on three races, and he won all three.”

Ruan Guohua explained, ”My son told me that before placing his bets, Xiaoxu was originally going to bet on my horse to win the first race. But because my son copied his bet, he casually switched to a different horse at the last second.”

”...” Hearing this, Fu Baoying’s expression changed.

If before she had merely been suspicious of Xu Yun, considering the possibility of sheer luck, Ruan Guohua’s words basically confirmed her fears.

The outcomes at the racecourse she managed were being manipulated.

This was no small matter!

Losing some money was nothing. The crucial point was that if he could really pull this off, it meant someone inside the club was colluding with Xu Yun, or with the forces backing him.

And their position was certainly not low.

The club had never been a monolith; it was a given that everyone had their own agenda.

But on the surface, at least, they had always presented a united front.

’So what did it mean for Xu Yun to suddenly show up and pull a stunt like this at my racecourse?’

’Are some people getting restless? Or are they dissatisfied with the current executive board and sending a deliberate signal? A show of force to put me in my place?’

Ruan Guohua saw Fu Baoying’s expression and knew his words had hit their mark.

Whether it was true or not, for the sake of his own interests and his status in the club, he didn’t mind making Xu Yun seem as mysterious as possible.

After all, it was because of Xu Yun that he was sitting here now.

Just then, his phone rang. It was his son.
