Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Xu Yun explained, ”It’s my first time playing, so I’m just trying my luck. I don’t want to bet too much.”

”...”

The amount was so large that the staff member swallowed hard.

He instinctively glanced at Young Master Ruan, the hand holding the card trembling. He didn’t know if he should process the bet or not.

Young Master Ruan stood to the side, completely stunned.

’First time playing, just trying his luck, and he bets 20 million?’

’If he plays a few more times, will he start betting in the hundreds of millions?!’

’And what about the bet with me yesterday?’

’He casually threw around 10 million then, too.’

’It’s like in his eyes, the smallest unit of money starts at ten million.’

”Wait, Brother Xu.”

Young Master Ruan snapped out of his daze and tried to reason with him. ”It’s our first time playing. How about we bet a little less? 20 million is too much.”

”Is it?”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”If I weren’t worried about affecting the racecourse’s normal betting pools, I’d have just bet 50 million.

But since you say it’s too much, I’ll bet a little less. Let’s make it 10 million.”

Ruan Qingnian was dumbfounded.

’Fine, I admit it. For this guy, the smallest unit of currency really is ten million!’

’It’s like anything less is impossible.’

’With Brother Xu’s style, if he isn’t a top-tier scion from the Mainland, I, Ruan Qingnian, would chop off my own head and offer it as a stool for him to sit on!’

Meanwhile, Yu Jiale’s brain had completely frozen upon hearing Xu Yun’s nonchalant words. He was incapable of thought.

The shock was just too much for him.

He knew President Xu was rich, but he never imagined he was *this* rich. It was as if tens of millions were like a few thousand to him.

Even Lin Wanzhou, who knew a fair bit about Xu Yun, was shaken.

’What in the world does this guy’s family do?’

’He’s just too rich!’

’This isn’t a question of squandering a family fortune. He fundamentally doesn’t even see money as money!’

The only woman present was the one Ruan Qingnian had brought along—a seductive little vixen, you could tell at a glance.

Right now, the look in her eyes as she gazed at Xu Yun was scorching hot.

’No wonder Young Master Ruan is so friendly with him. This man is a true big shot.’

Her expression practically screamed that she wanted to let go of Young Master Ruan’s arm that very second, throw herself into Xu Yun’s embrace, and strip naked before him to show off her beauty.

’If I could latch onto him, I’d be set for life. I could live a life of luxury and achieve financial freedom!’

Seeing Ruan Qingnian remain silent, the staff member couldn’t help but ask, ”Young Master Ruan?”

”Why are you looking at me? Are you the staff member, or am I?”

Young Master Ruan snapped, ”Just place the bet for whatever amount Brother Xu says! Don’t you dare make a mistake, or you wouldn’t be able to afford the compensation even if we sold you.”

The staff member was speechless.

Finally, with the staff member’s careful handling, a successful bet of 10 million Hong Kong Dollars was placed on horse number 5 in the 7th race. Converted to RMB, the actual amount was slightly less than 10 million.

However, after a processing fee was deducted, it was close enough.

The odds for this horse were calculated like this: there were a total of 12 horses competing in the 7th race, meaning 12 different horses could potentially win. That made the win rate 1/12.

Naturally, the payout odds were 1:12.

Therefore, if horse number 5, the one Xu Yun bet on, won the seventh race, he stood to win a prize of 110 million!

There were still 3 races to go before his. For the time being, all Xu Yun had to do was wait.

However, Lin Wanzhou and Yu Jiale had placed bets in these next 3 races, so they watched with nervous anticipation.

The result, unfortunately, was that none of the horses they bet on won.

But that’s just how betting on horses is. Losing is the norm, and winning is a miracle.

One had only bet 10,000 Hong Kong Dollars, and the other just 5,000. Losing didn’t make them too upset.

After all, there were two young masters right next to them.

One had bet 200,000 Hong Kong Dollars on his horse to place, while the other had bet 10 million Hong Kong Dollars on a straight win!

If they lost too, their own losses were so trivial it would be embarrassing to even mention them.

Finally, the third-to-last race—the 7th race—was about to begin.

The group of five all went out to the terrace, watching the horses and jockeys below as they started their warm-ups.

Everyone’s attention was focused on two horses: number 8, owned by Young Master Ruan’s family, and number 5, the one Xu Yun had bet on.

Xu Yun himself, in contrast, looked completely unconcerned.

Young Master Ruan said, ”By the way, Brother Xu, didn’t you say you were going to bet on my family’s horse? How did it end up being number 5?”

”I saw you already bet 200,000 on your own family’s horse, so I decided to pick a different one.”

Xu Yun said, ”It’s no fun to bet on the same horse as you.”

Young Master Ruan was speechless.

’If I’d known you weren’t going to bet on my family’s horse, I would have picked a different one too!’

He really had no confidence in his family’s horse.

Just as everyone was watching the racecourse, the sound of a system reward notification rang in Xu Yun’s ears.

[Faced with the entertainment of horse racing, the Host chose to Do as You Please, spending 10 million to bet on horse number 5 and shocking everyone present. Reward: 50 million in cash.]

[Bank Card Balance: 112,000,000]

Looking at his net worth, which had returned to the hundreds of millions, Xu Yun felt a thrill of satisfaction. He considered the money he had spent on the Tai Chi Skill recouped.

He gazed down at the racecourse below.

’Hmph, so what if I lose 10 million? As long as spending the money satisfies my truest desires and stirs my emotions, I’ve come out ahead.’

’Because my real gamble was never on the racecourse—it was with the system.’

In truth, as the amounts of money involved increased, Xu Yun felt his system’s rewards were becoming too random. He could never be sure what to expect.

For example, after he spent 50 million to purchase the Skill and defeated Master Liang, logically, the system should have given him a reward. But he had been waiting until now, and nothing had come.

This was no longer a matter of a simple delay.

That’s why this time, when he bet 10 million, he had no confidence that the system would give him a reward for sure.

Luckily, his gamble paid off. The system came through, and it even gave him a 5x return.

Just as Xu Yun was lost in thought, a man suddenly interrupted him.
