Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 128: Chapter 104: You’re Forcing Me to Be a Nouveau Riche, Right?

”Let’s check out the jewelry store first, then go look at bags at the Hermes store.”

Xu Yun thought for a moment. Ning Qian needed a necklace, and Li Jinshu’s handbag was getting a little old and ought to be replaced.

So, they headed to the jewelry store first.

Xu Yun didn’t know anything about jewelry, nor could he appreciate it. Following the sales associate’s recommendation, he bought a diamond necklace worth 18,000 yuan.

It wasn’t that Xu Yun was being cheap; any bigger and it would look tacky hanging on her neck.

Yu Xuan was incredibly envious.

”I’m done with my shopping. Now it’s your turn.”

Xu Yun smiled at Chen Xin and said, ”There’s a saying: ’Everyone who’s here gets a share.’ Go ahead and pick something out for yourself in the store. I’ll pay. Consider it a gift.”

”Really?”

”Of course.”

Hearing this, Yu Xuan, who was standing to the side, felt a pang of envy.

The so-called ”everyone who’s here gets a share” didn’t include her.

”Well, don’t mind if I do.”

Chen Xin was delighted. She pulled Yu Xuan over to a counter on the other side and started browsing.

Seeing this, a nearby sales associate immediately began introducing various expensive pieces of jewelry to them.

With nothing else to do, Xu Yun wandered around the store by himself, tailed by another sales associate ready to assist him.

A moment later, Chen Xin, with Yu Xuan’s help, had made her choice.

Xu Yun walked over, expecting she would have picked something of some value, but she had only chosen a gold bracelet with a Lucky Bead.

It cost 1,300 yuan in total.

”This is what you picked?”

Xu Yun smiled. ”This is a one-time offer. Are you sure you don’t want to change your mind?”

”This is the one.”

Chen Xin said with a smile, ”I just want my luck to turn this year so I’m not a struggling author anymore and can earn lots of royalties.”

”What’s a girl like you going to do with so much money?”

”Save it up for my dowry.”

Chen Xin said, ”That way, when I meet someone I like in the future, I’ll have the confidence and financial security to stand on my own.”

”Alright, we’ll get this one.”

Xu Yun said to the attendant, ”Wrap it up. We’re checking out.”

After the card payment went through, he went to the Hermes boutique. On Chen Xin and Yu Xuan’s advice, he bought a beige handbag for Li Jinshu and a black one for Su Mu.

They cost 72,000 yuan in total.

Yu Xuan saw all of this.

After spending the past few days with them, she knew that Chen Xin wasn’t Xu Yun’s girlfriend.

That meant the things Xu Yun bought today were most likely gifts to take back to his girlfriend.

’He goes on one trip and brings back so many gifts for his girlfriend. She must be so happy.’

’If only my own boyfriend could love me like that.’

’But he’s just a regular office worker, making a little over 10,000 yuan a month. He can’t even scrape together the down payment for an apartment in Shanghai.’

’We have to struggle together, pinching pennies every day.’

’Forget about buying luxury goods like these.’

After buying everything, Chen Xin asked curiously, ”Aren’t you going to buy anything for yourself?”

”I was actually thinking of buying another watch.”

’Su Mu gave me one last time, but hey, how can a man have only one watch?’

’I should buy another one to rotate.’

First, he ruled out Rolex. He already had one, so he didn’t need another.

Xu Yun thought it over. The brand that stuck in his mind the most, the one most talked about online, was Patek Philippe.

Back when he had no money, he often heard people talk about it and would fantasize that one day, when he was rich, he would buy one for himself.

Besides, the brand seemed to have a good reputation.

It is a high-end Swiss watch brand, founded in 1839, and is one of the world’s top watchmakers, renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship, exceptional quality, and unique design style.

Their slogan said that a Patek Philippe watch is not just a timekeeper, but a work of art and a treasure.

’It might be a bit expensive, but if I’m buying it for myself, I should get the best.’

He said to Yu Xuan, ”I’d also like to buy a Patek Philippe watch. Can you take me to see them?”

”Uh, they don’t sell Patek Philippe here.”

Yu Xuan thought for a moment and said, ”I think I heard their Maison is at Bund Source Building No. 2, No. 33, Zhongshan East Road in the Huangpu District. There are only two in the entire country: one here in Shanghai and one in the Capital.”

”Alright, let’s go.”

Soon, the trio arrived at their destination.

Xu Yun looked at the villa before him, finding it hard to associate it with a boutique. Rather than a Maison, it seemed more like a local landmark.

Located where the Huangpu River and Suzhou River converge, it inherited the classic style and tradition of the Patek Philippe Salon in Geneva.

The Maison was formerly the official residence of the United Kingdom’s Consul-General in Shanghai, originally built in 1882.

The building features Victorian-era Romanesque architecture. It’s a two-story brick-and-wood structure with a floor area of 1,227.5 square meters.

This was the first time Patek Philippe had created a venue outside of Europe with a status and function comparable to its Geneva Salon.

In the eyes of the Stern Clan, the Maison was like a second ”home” for the brand outside of Geneva, carrying on its history and values.

The Patek Philippe Maison has two floors, each with a VIP room.

The first floor displays and sells current production timepieces from Patek Philippe’s eight major collections, including the Calatrava, Nautilus, Aquanaut, Gondolo, Golden Ellipse, and Twenty~4 series.

The second floor focuses on showcasing the Grand Complications series, high-jewelry watch series, and other limited-edition timepieces.

Xu Yun led the two women inside.

It was everyone’s first time here. Aside from Xu Yun, who appeared relatively calm, the other two women felt a bit intimidated.

They were afraid they wouldn’t be able to buy anything.

Because there were many rumors online about buying a Patek Philippe—things like needing to have your assets verified, or having an interview with the company president, and so on.

In any case, the gist was that even if you had the money, you weren’t guaranteed to be able to buy one.
