Chapter 112: Chapter 98: A Strange Female Neighbor?

”What a coincidence. I happen to enjoy reading novels.”

Xu Yun ate his meal and asked with a deliberate smile, ”What kind of novels do you write? Tell me about them, I’ll see if I’ve read any.”

Chen Xin was speechless.

Faced with Xu Yun’s question, she was momentarily at a loss for words.

The main problem was that she was too embarrassed to talk about the novels she wrote, because they had spicy stuff in them!

If Xu Yun saw them, her entire image would be ruined.

’And who knows what he would think of me then.’

’This is so conflicting!’

Xu Yun continued to ask, ”What’s wrong? Is it inconvenient to say?”

”Usually, we don’t tell people we know what kind of novels we write.”

Chen Xin explained, ”Otherwise, it feels a little awkward when someone you know reads your work.”

”It’s fine. If you don’t want to say, then don’t.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”I was just asking out of curiosity.”

”Thank you.”

”So, for this trip, how many days are you planning to stay in Jiangcheng?”

”I haven’t decided.”

Chen Xin said, ”If it’s fun, I might stay a few more days. If not, I’ll just go back early.”

”To be honest, there’s not much to do in Jiangcheng.”

Xu Yun said, ”Since you wanted to get out and have fun, let’s really have fun. Let’s not stay in Jiangcheng. Let’s go somewhere else.”

”Huh?”

”How about the two of us go on a spontaneous trip?”

”Huh?”

”I’ll arrange the itinerary. All you have to do is have fun.”

Chen Xin: ”But I...”

”Great, it’s happily decided then.”

Xu Yun held out his hand and said, ”Give me your ID. I’ll need it to buy plane tickets and book rooms.”

”Huh? Oh.”

Chen Xin wasn’t sure why, but she obediently took her ID out of her bag and handed it to him.

Then she asked in a small voice, ”Where are we going?”

”I don’t know either.”

Xu Yun said, ”I’ll buy a map on our way back. We’ll pick a place at random. Wherever it lands, we go.”

Chen Xin was speechless.

’It’s a little crazy, but I’m also kind of looking forward to it!’

After they finished their meal, Xu Yun actually did buy a map before they headed back.

Back at the residential complex, Chen Xin could tell just by looking at the various luxury cars in the garage that this place wasn’t cheap. It was likely a high-end complex where only the wealthy lived.

They took the elevator straight to the 19th floor and arrived at Xu Yun’s home.

The moment she stepped inside, Chen Xin was stunned.

’He called this ”a bit spacious”? This is *very* spacious, okay!’

Walking through the large living room to the balcony, she felt a thrill of excitement. ’Is this the legendary luxury flat?’

’A penthouse, no less!’

In her novels, she had written countless times about protagonists owning a luxury flat, and she had seen many pictures of them online. But when she actually walked into one, standing in a real luxury flat, the feeling was something that novels and pictures could never convey.

At this moment, she felt as if a scene from a novel had manifested in her real life.

Xu Yun used the coffee machine to make her a cup of coffee.

”This place should be decent enough to live in, right?”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Personally, I think it’s a tiny bit better than a hotel.”

Chen Xin was speechless.

’This isn’t a tiny bit better, it’s *way* better!’

”Let me show you the room you’ll be staying in tonight.”

Xu Yun led Chen Xin to the bedroom next to his and said, ”You’ll sleep here tonight. Everything in here is new, never been used. It has an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet.”

”Okay.”

Chen Xin looked at the bedroom, which was larger than the living room of her own apartment, and couldn’t help but feel envious.

Xu Yun asked, ”So, do you want to turn in early, or join me in the living room to watch some TV?”

”Aren’t we supposed to be choosing where to go tomorrow?”

”Oh, right.”

The two went to the living room. Xu Yun spread out a map of the country, then picked up a dart and handed it to Chen Xin, saying, ”You throw it.”

”Me?”

”Of course.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”This time, I’m just following my mom’s Holy Edict to hang out with you. You’re the protagonist.”

”Alright.”

Chen Xin took the dart, a bit embarrassed. She tossed it at the map, and it wobbled through the air before sticking into the area marked Shanghai.

”Shanghai?”

Seeing this, Xu Yun smiled. ”An international metropolis. I haven’t been there either.”

Once the destination was set, Chen Xin started looking up travel guides online. Xu Yun watched TV for a while, then got up to take a shower.

A short while later, Chen Xin heard someone entering the code on the door’s keypad.

She walked over curiously. She was only halfway there when the door opened.

A woman opened the door and walked in.

Their eyes met instantly, and both of them froze on the spot.

Li Jinshu stared at the strange woman who had suddenly appeared in Xu Yun’s home and asked, ”Who are you? Where’s Xu Yun?”

”I’m his friend. He’s taking a shower right now.”

Chen Xin asked back, ”And who are you?”

”I’m his neighbor.”

Li Jinshu said hastily, then quickly turned around and fled.

’A strange female neighbor?’

She thought the woman might be lying, that she was a bad person, so she quickly walked to the door and peeked out.

The woman really did enter the apartment next door and close the door.

’But still, can neighbors just randomly let themselves into someone else’s home?’

Li Jinshu’s visit was as brief as it was sudden.

Back in her own apartment, Su Mu saw her and asked with a smile, ”How are you back so soon?”

”I had just gone in, and I came right back out.”

Li Jinshu sat on the sofa and said to Su Mu, ”Do you know what I saw when I went over to find Xu Yun just now?”

”What did you see?”

”I saw a woman.”

Li Jinshu said, ”Her boobs are huge! Even bigger than yours!!!”

Su Mu was speechless.

’So you went in, took one look, and the only thing you remember is that her boobs are big!’

”Tell me, why would a woman suddenly be in his apartment?”

Li Jinshu said, annoyed, ”Why does Xu Yun keep bringing women home? Isn’t he afraid of wearing himself out?”

”Why are you getting so worked up about him bringing a woman home?”

Su Mu smiled. ”He doesn’t have a girlfriend. He’s single. It’s perfectly normal.”

”Is he blind? If he’s looking for someone, why not choose you or me?” Li Jinshu blurted out subconsciously.

Su Mu: ”???”

”Uh, what I mean is...”

Li Jinshu quickly explained, ”Aren’t we better than those women out there? If he wants a girlfriend, he should pick one of us! It’s much more reliable to be with someone you know inside and out. The guy is looking for something far away when it’s right under his nose.”

”So if he asked you out, would you say yes?”

Li Jinshu: ”...”

”I think I know who the woman you saw today is.”

Li Jinshu asked curiously, ”Who?”

”The blind date his mom set him up with.”

Su Mu explained, ”I heard him mention it a couple of days ago. His mom called and told him a girl was coming to Jiangcheng for a couple of days, that she would be staying with him, and that he had to show her around.”

Li Jinshu was speechless.

As soon as she heard the woman was a match his mom had found for him, her morale instantly deflated.

It seemed like the other woman had a more legitimate claim than she did.

”Susu, you don’t think Xu Yun has actually fallen for her, do you?”

”Why?”

”Because her boobs are really huge.”

Li Jinshu looked down at her own modest C-cups and said, ”It seems like all men like women with big boobs.”

Su Mu was speechless.

She also glanced down at her own not-so-small chest.

’Are they really bigger than mine?’

Su Mu, who had always been very confident, suddenly began to have some self-doubt.

For women, comparing breast size is like men comparing their... length. There’s always this feeling that bigger means more confident.

But then again, that kind of thing is all down to natural gifts. You can’t change it.

...

When Xu Yun came out from his shower, Chen Xin immediately said, ”Just now, a woman who said she was your next-door neighbor let herself in with the code, but then she saw me and ran off.”

Xu Yun was speechless.

’No doubt about it, that was definitely Li Jinshu.’

’She must have been shocked when she saw Chen Xin, hahaha...’

”It’s fine.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”My neighbor and I are on pretty good terms, so we know each other’s door codes.”

”Oh,” Chen Xin replied.

’As long as it wasn’t a thief.’

Xu Yun walked over and asked with a smile, ”Aren’t you writing tonight?”

”I have a stockpile of Chapters for the next few days.”

Chen Xin said, ”It should be enough.”

”How’s the income for you web novel authors?”

”It depends on the person.”

Chen Xin explained, ”The ones who make money make a lot of it. The ones who don’t just earn enough for living expenses. Like me, my normal monthly royalties are only a few thousand yuan.”

”That is a bit low.”

”But as long as you work hard at writing, it’s better than a regular job, even if your book’s performance is poor.”

Chen Xin replied with a smile, ”At least my time is my own.”

”That’s true.”

Seeing Xu Yun in a bathrobe made Chen Xin feel a bit shy. She stood up and said, ”We have to travel tomorrow, so I’ll go back to my room and get ready for bed.”

”Okay, go ahead. Just call me if you need anything.”

”Alright.”

After Chen Xin returned to her room, she shut the door tightly. He even heard the sound of the deadbolt locking.

’This woman... she looks a bit ditzy, but her safety awareness is quite strong.’

Xu Yun hadn’t been reading novels lately, but now that he knew Chen Xin was the author of that ”rich protagonist” novel, he reopened his novel app and added the book back to his library.

Its performance still seemed mediocre.

One, because she was an acquaintance, and two, because she had helped his mom out a lot, Xu Yun decided to give her another boost.

So he added money to his account and immediately dropped another Golden Alliance sponsorship on her book.

Then he clicked to apply to join the reader group.

’Heh heh, this feeling of me knowing who she is, but her not knowing who I am... it’s pretty satisfying.’

「In the bedroom.」

Chen Xin wasn’t looking at her phone or her author dashboard, so she had no idea that she had just received another Golden Alliance sponsorship from someone.

She looked at the large bathtub in her bedroom, had eagerly filled it with water, and then, completely naked, soaked herself in it.

The water rose past her chest, and a dense layer of bubbles concealed the view beneath the surface.

She loved bubble baths, but unfortunately, the place she lived didn’t have the means for them.

’Once I make money and become a famous author, I’ll definitely buy a big house too. Then I’ll install a huge bathtub so I can take a bubble bath every day.’

Unfortunately, that dream was very far away. It was something she could only think about.

After soaking for about half an hour, Chen Xin finally got out, changed into the pajamas she’d brought, and got into bed.

Before falling asleep, she habitually opened her author-assistant dashboard to check her subscription data for the day, which would give her a rough idea of how much money she’d earned.

But as soon as she opened it, the first thing she saw was the donation notification.

The long string of zeros after the ”1” made her eyes go blurry for the second time, and her heart began to race!

’Another whale just dropped a Golden Alliance sponsorship?’
