Chapter 122: Chapter 103: My Water Heater Is a Little Broken, Waiting for You to Come Back and Fix It

After their boat tour, Xu Yun and the others found an opportunity to disembark.

They went to a restaurant on the Bund that Yu Xuan had arranged. The decor was quite nice, giving off an air of sophistication.

Plus, the surrounding night view was beautiful.

As soon as they entered the restaurant, a dedicated staff member approached to serve them, guiding them to a private dining room.

Oh, wait, no. They called the dining area an ”Evening Banquet Aesthetic Space.”

Xu Yun looked at the menu on the table and casually chose one of their recommended set meals.

It was 1,000 per person.

Before long, the waiter brought out the first course: three small side dishes.

He introduced them, ”This is ’One-Bite-Crisp,’ ’Hermes’ Burnt-Pepper Preserved Egg, and Plum-Soaked Cherry Tomatoes.”

Xu Yun stared at the three familiar-looking pickled dishes before him, his brain struggling to catch up.

”No, wait a minute...”

Xu Yun pointed at the preserved egg in the middle and asked, ”What did you call this preserved egg? A Hermes preserved egg?”

”Mmm...”

The waiter replied with a completely serious expression, ”The Hermes preserved egg.”

”What does it have to do with Hermes?”

”It is the Hermes of preserved eggs.”

Xu Yun: ”...”

’Well, I’ll be. The Hermes of preserved eggs. How about that!’

Xu Yun then pointed to the cucumber slices next to it. ”This is cucumber, right?”

”No.”

The waiter replied, ”This is ’Savory One-Bite-Crisp.’”

”It’s just cucumber.”

Xu Yun pressed, ”Just answer me, is it cucumber or not? If it’s not cucumber, I’m not paying!”

”Er.”

The waiter said, a little awkwardly, ”You could say that.”

’It’s just cucumber, and they have to call it ”One-Bite-Crisp.”’

’They’re just trying to hype it up!’

When the waiter left to prepare the second course, Xu Yun looked at the two beautiful women across from him and chuckled. ”Go on, have a try. The ’Hermes’ Burnt-Pepper Preserved Egg, and the ’Savory One-Bite-Crisp.’”

With that, he picked up a small wedge of the preserved egg and popped it into his mouth.

’Hmm...’

’This doesn’t even taste as good as my mom’s!’

Next, he tried the pickled cucumber slices. They tasted no different from the ones he had at home.

He glanced at the so-called ”plum-soaked cherry tomatoes” and ignored them completely.

After the two women across from him tried the food, their expressions were pretty much the same as his.

”I’ve figured out these restaurants. It doesn’t matter if the food is good or not, as long as the names sound fancy.”

”Hahaha...”

Chen Xin laughed. ”It’s fine. These places are very conscientious—they only rip off you rich people.”

”...” Xu Yun was speechless.

The second course was the main dish, called ”Flaming Ginger & Scallion Whitefish Claypot.” It was also a small, individual portion, served on a stone plate.

This dish was decent. It tasted good, and everyone seemed to like it.

After that, several more small dishes were served. They were average—not bad, but not amazing either. The names, however, were spectacular.

Finally, it was time for the ”Tiger Head Soup” that Xu Yun had been looking forward to the most. The picture on the menu showed a huge fish head in a pot, and it looked incredibly appetizing.

Chen Xin and Yu Xuan were also looking forward to it.

But when the waiter brought it over, Xu Yun stared at the small bowl of fish soup in front of him, completely dumbfounded.

”This is the fish head soup I ordered?”

The waiter replied, ”Yes, Mr. Xu. This is the Wild Huangpu Fish Head Soup.”

”Where’s the fish head?”

”It’s in the pot.”

”Where’s the meat?”

”It’s in the bowl.”

Xu Yun was speechless. ”No, I wanted the big fish head soup, the kind you have in the picture on your menu.”

”That’s right. This is it.”

”...” Xu Yun was speechless.

’Seriously? A thousand per person, and what have I even eaten?’

’This is bullshit! I’m not eating this crap!’

”Here, this meal is on me.”

Xu Yun stood up. ”You guys can have the rest of the dishes yourselves.”

Seeing Xu Yun get up and leave, Chen Xin quickly followed.

Yu Xuan hurried after them, anxiously explaining at Xu Yun’s side, ”Mr. Xu, I’m so sorry. I didn’t plan this well. This is my first time here, too. I saw their promotional posters and they looked good, so I thought...”

”It’s fine, I’m not mad. It’s not my first time getting ripped off. I get scammed every day, and every day it’s something new.”

Xu Yun said with a smile, ”Alright, let’s go back.”

”Okay, Mr. Xu.”

After a full day of sightseeing, they returned to their hotel and noticed a lively cocktail party happening next door.

Yu Xuan asked, ”Should we go take a look?”

”No need,” Xu Yun said. ”You should get some rest too. You can take us around again tomorrow.”

”Okay. Goodnight, Mr. Xu. If you need anything, just call me. I’m on call 24/7.”

”Alright.”

After sending Yu Xuan off, Xu Yun turned to Chen Xin and asked, ”Did you get enough to eat earlier? Because I feel like I basically ate nothing.”

”I didn’t get enough to eat either.”

Xu Yun grinned and replied, ”How about we sneak into the cocktail party next door and check it out? I’ve seen on TV that parties like that usually have lots of desserts and drinks, and you can eat as much as you want.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Xin’s eyes lit up. ”We won’t get caught, will we?”

”Probably not.”

And so, after a brief discussion, the two decided to crash the party next door for some free food and drinks.

But when they arrived at the party, they discovered everyone was in formal wear—men in suits, women in gowns—which made their casual clothes stick out like a sore thumb.

But it didn’t matter; no one was paying any attention to them anyway.

At first, Chen Xin was a little reserved and hesitant to take any food. But after seeing how Xu Yun was acting, she realized she was overthinking it.

So, she started to dig in.

Everyone else was holding a glass of wine or juice, mingling and chatting, while the two of them looked like they were only there for the food.

The people who did notice them were only slightly surprised.

After all, who among the guests at this party was actually short on food?

Just as Xu Yun and Chen Xin were planning to eat a little more before quietly slipping away, someone suddenly tapped him lightly on the shoulder from behind.
