Chapter 82: Chapter 82: President Xu: Woman, You Have Successfully Caught My Attention

「The next morning.」

When Li Jinshu got up, she found Su Mu seemingly looking for something in the living room.

She walked over and asked curiously, ”Susu, what are you looking for so early in the morning?”

”Nothing much.”

Su Mu replied with a smile, ”I have a lipstick that I can’t find. I don’t know where I might have misplaced it last night. I’m sure I left it on the coffee table.”

”Ah.”

Li Jinshu remembered the medicine she saw on the coffee table last night and said, feeling a little guilty, ”I didn’t see any lipstick on the coffee table.”

”Oh, then maybe I remembered wrong.”

Su Mu also said, a bit guiltily, ”It’s fine, maybe I remembered wrong. What do you want to eat? A sandwich, or fried eggs and millet porridge? I’ll go make it.”

”I’ll help you.”

”But you don’t know how.”

”That’s exactly why I want to learn how to cook from you.”

Su Mu asked, puzzled, ”Why the sudden interest in learning to cook today?”

”I can’t expect you to make breakfast for me for the rest of my life. You’ll get married eventually, and I’ll have to find a boyfriend too.”

Li Jinshu smiled. ”When you’re not around, I need to learn to make my own food, otherwise I’ll starve to death at home, or my future boyfriend will complain.”

”Quite the realization.”

Su Mu couldn’t help but smile. ”Alright then, come with me. I’ll teach you. It’s very simple.”

A short while later, a simple breakfast was ready.

Li Jinshu hesitated for a moment, then asked, ”Should we call Xu Yun from next door and ask him to come eat with us?”

”Fine,” Su Mu said with a nod. ”But if you’re going to call him, you do it. I’m not calling.”

”No problem.”

Xu Yun didn’t eat breakfast, so he usually woke up late.

The threat of losing his perfect attendance bonus at work no longer fazed him.

Hearing the phone ringing by his bed, he groggily answered it.

”Hello, who is this?”

”Xu Yun, you’re not up yet?”

On the phone, Li Jinshu said, ”Hurry up, get washed up, and come have breakfast with us. Susu made it, and it’s delicious.”

”I’m not eating. You guys go ahead.”

Xu Yun hung up right after he finished speaking, tossed the phone aside, and rolled over to go back to sleep.

「In the apartment next door.」

Su Mu looked at Li Jinshu, who had just been hung up on, and asked, ”Well? Is he coming over to eat?”

”He’s not coming. And he hung up on me.”

Li Jinshu said, ”He’s probably still half asleep.”

”Alright, don’t worry about him. Let’s just eat. You need to get to work after we’re done.”

”Okay.”

After they finished eating, Li Jinshu left first.

Because she didn’t have a car to drive her to and from work every day, she had to hail a cab or take the subway.

Su Mu sometimes gave her a ride, but since it wasn’t on her way, Li Jinshu felt bad asking for a ride every day.

After Li Jinshu left, Su Mu searched the living room and her bedroom for her medicine again.

Still no sign of it.

’This is so strange. Where on earth did I put the medicine after I took it last night?’

Losing it wasn’t the scary part. What Su Mu feared was Li Jinshu accidentally finding it.

She wouldn’t know how to explain it if that happened.

’Should I just say I had a headache and bought the wrong medicine from the pharmacy?’

....

It was already 9:30 AM when Xu Yun got out of bed.

Just as he finished washing up, a call came in from Su Mu. She asked, ”Are you up?”

”Yeah.”

”Let’s go. Come to work with me. I’m waiting for you at your door.”

Xu Yun said in surprise, ”Sister Su, you haven’t left yet?”

”I was waiting for you, since I figured you don’t have a car. Hurry up and come out.”

”Okay.”

Xu Yun got ready and went out. Sure enough, he saw Su Mu standing at his door, holding a takeout container.

”Breakfast for you.”

Su Mu explained, ”We didn’t finish, so there was a little left over. Lucky you.”

”Sister Su.”

”Hmm?”

Xu Yun sighed with emotion. ”Besides my mom, you’re the second woman to ever bring me breakfast.”

”Your ex-girlfriend never made you any?”

”Nope. I was always the one getting up early to make it for her.”

”Hahaha...”

Su Mu laughed. ”Let’s go. You can eat in the car on the way.”

The two arrived at the company garage, and Su Mu’s eyes immediately landed on a Bentley parked not far away.

The two-tone, white and black paint job was incredibly conspicuous among the other cars.

She asked curiously, ”Since when is there a Bentley in our building’s garage?”

”Maybe someone just bought it yesterday. Look, it still has temporary plates.”

Xu Yun said meaningfully, ”What, you like it too, Sister Su?”

”Yeah, I like it a lot.”

Su Mu answered casually, ”It’s just a little pricey. I could never bring myself to buy one.”

”If you wanted to buy one, you probably wouldn’t be short on cash, right?”

”It’s different.”

Su Mu smiled. ”Spending your own money and spending your family’s money are two completely different things.”

”That’s true.”

Worried that Xu Yun might misunderstand and think she was mocking him for spending his family’s money, Su Mu quickly added an explanation: ”I’m not talking about you. Everyone’s family situation is different.”

”I have a half-brother and a stepmother at home, so my relationship with my family has never been that great, to be honest.”

”That’s also why I didn’t want to stay at my family’s company and came to work here instead.”

”I understand.”

Xu Yun teased, ”It’s fine. You may not have a doting father, but you’ve gained a man who’ll dote on you.”

”Who?”

”Me, of course.”

Xu Yun pretended to be angry. ”Can’t you see? Tall, handsome, and virile.”

”I’m not seeing it.”

Su Mu chuckled, then turned and walked toward the elevators.

Watching her sexy retreating figure, Xu Yun deliberately mimicked a line from a TV drama’s domineering CEO character, saying, ”Woman, you’ve successfully captured my attention!”

Su Mu, with her sharp hearing, caught the line. A slight smile touched her lips as she stood in the elevator, turned, and called out, ”Hey, President Xu, are you coming or not?”

”Uh...”

Although they took the elevator together, they entered the office one after the other, a few minutes apart, to avoid suspicion.

But as soon as he walked in, Xu Yun noticed that the atmosphere in the office was off.

He asked Xiaopang curiously, ”Did something happen?”

”The boss came back early.”

Xiaopang whispered, ”Manager Li just went to the boss’s office, and afterward, the boss seemed really angry. He called Manager Su in, and she still hasn’t come out.”

Xu Yun was speechless.

”Do you think Manager Li said something to the boss?”

Xu Yun said, exasperated, ”Is there even a need to guess? It’s definitely about me. Most likely because of my recent attendance record—always late or leaving early.”

”So what are you going to do?”

Xiaopang asked with concern, ”Manager Su is in charge of attendance, but you know her relationship with the boss. She’ll probably just get a slap on the wrist, but things are going to be tough for you.”

”What’s there to be afraid of!”

Xu Yun said with a nonchalant expression, ”Even if the company fires me, they’ll have to pay me severance. And I’ll definitely give Manager Li a piece of my mind before I leave.”

Xiaopang was speechless.

’You really refuse to back down an inch, don’t you?’
