Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Who Says? You Fight for Your Own Opportunities

Xu Yun had barely sat down after returning to the office when Song Xiaowei approached him again.

She had realized that after Su Mu had called Xu Yun in for a talk, there seemed to be no follow-up at all.

Even a total rookie like her could tell that her words had had no effect whatsoever.

Moreover, she had heard from other male colleagues that Xu Yun and Manager Su were on pretty good terms.

It made sense when she thought about it.

Otherwise, Manager Su would never have lent him her sports car.

That being the case, she could only resign herself to finding Xu Yun again, hoping he would change his ways. Otherwise, she’d have no choice but to quit.

She was here to gain experience as an intern, not to be an errand girl doing menial tasks.

”Brother Xu, I’ve been at the company for two days now,” Song Xiaowei said. ”Shouldn’t you be giving me something to do?”

”Sure.”

Seeing her arrogant and self-important expression, Xu Yun took a folder from his drawer and handed it to her.

”This is for the Chow Taifook Jewelry Store’s anniversary event in two days. Look over the event plan and write the script you’ll need as the host.”

Song Xiaowei asked doubtfully, ”Doesn’t the event organizer usually prepare the host’s script?”

”Our company *is* the event organizer. Since you’re the company’s host for this event, you’re responsible for writing it.”

Xu Yun said, ”If you don’t know how, you can ask some other colleagues to teach you.”

”No need. I can do it myself.” Song Xiaowei took the proposal and turned to leave.

Seeing this, Xiaopang from the next desk rolled over and said, ”Xu Yun, are you really making a rookie write it? What if something goes wrong?”

”It’s fine. I already wrote one myself.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Let her give it a try first. Otherwise, she’ll keep feeling like she has nothing to do. Besides, what if hers turns out better than mine?”

Xiaopang was speechless.

’You’re really something else.’

Song Xiaowei returned to her workstation, opened the anniversary event proposal for the Chow Taifook Jewelry Store, and began to read it carefully.

At first, she didn’t think much of it, but after one read-through, she realized the author really knew their stuff.

The content of this event proposal was creative, novel, and refreshingly new.

After reading it from the perspective of an ordinary person, she found herself interested in Chow Taifook’s jewelry and felt an urge to buy it.

’It seems he really is as capable as everyone says.’

Song Xiaowei glanced up at Xu Yun, then started writing her own script on the computer based on the event’s content.

With nothing else to do, Xu Yun’s thoughts turned to the Pechoin proposal, and he started posting a job in his freelance group chat.

[Angry Brother: I’ve got a project for a Pechoin product launch. Urgently need people. PM me if you’re interested.]

Within minutes of posting the job, four or five people had sent him private messages.

Some asked what the job was, others asked about the pay.

For Xu Yun, money wasn’t the issue; the key was getting the job done right. So this time, he wasn’t concerned with cost-effectiveness. He sought out the most capable people in the group, all of whom worked for major corporations.

These were all people who were skilled at their companies but couldn’t get promoted.

So they secretly took on freelance gigs to earn extra cash on the side.

Besides, when you’re working for yourself on a gig like this, you put in far more effort than you would for your own company.

Because if you do a good job, people will want to hire you again, and you can raise your rates. It’s a direct correlation.

In this circle, Xu Yun was considered one of the more capable ones and had worked on many projects for others.

Otherwise, how could he have saved over a hundred thousand yuan on his meager salary?

But to avoid trouble, or just to be safe, and also to maintain the confidentiality of the proposal, he usually had each person handle only one part of a large project.

After contacting everyone, he ended up hiring three people. Including himself, that made a team of four to work on the Hundred Sparrow Drink project.

He also went ahead and sent each of them a small deposit.

As closing time approached, he suddenly received a private message from Su Mu.

[Su Mu: You went to eat at a street stall again for lunch?]

[Xu Yun: How did you know? Are you stalking me? I’m officially confused.]

[Su Mu: Hmph. Aren’t you worried your body won’t be able to take it?]

[Xu Yun: What’s wrong with street stalls? The food’s delicious. I used to eat it every day and never got sick. The place I ate at today was really good. I’ll take you there next time.]

[Su Mu: ???]

[Xu Yun: ???]

[Su Mu: ...]

In her office, Su Mu suddenly realized they weren’t on the same wavelength.

’Was I talking about the street stall?’

’I was talking about Ning Qian!’

[Su Mu: Leave first after work, then wait for me in the garage.]

Xu Yun glanced up at her office and saw that she was looking at him too.

’We’re a single man and a single woman, not sneaking around having an affair. It’s just a car ride. What’s there to be afraid of?’

....

After work, catching the look from Su Mu, Xu Yun went to the garage first and waited for her in the car.

It was quite a while before Su Mu came down, and the two of them drove away from the company together.

Manager Li followed them discreetly from behind.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Xu Yun complained, ”If you’d taken any longer, I would’ve fallen asleep.”

”It’s fine. I’m driving anyway. You can go back to sleep.”

Su Mu replied, ”I’ll wake you when we get to my place.”

”No way. What if you try to steal a kiss while I’m asleep?”

”You wish.”

Su Mu casually joked, ”I’d kiss a dog before I’d kiss you.”

”WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!”

Su Mu was speechless.

”Sis, a promise is a promise.”

Xu Yun leaned in, a mischievous grin on his face. ”Go on, then.”

”I’m driving.”

Su Mu shot Xu Yun a flustered, angry glare. ’I’ve never met such a shameless man.’

”So you can’t kiss while driving?”

”Of course not.”

Su Mu said, ”Haven’t you seen the news? A couple got into a car accident recently for kissing while driving. You don’t want us to be on the news tomorrow, do you?”

Xu Yun was speechless.

Seeing his glum expression, Su Mu smiled to herself, feeling triumphant.

”All day long, all you think about is hitting on me. I’m supposed to be your big sister, you know.”

”We’re not related by blood. At most, you’re like a sworn sister.”

Xu Yun smirked. ”Besides, if I call you ’Sis’ while I’m kissing you, don’t you think that’d be even more exciting?”

Su Mu was speechless.

「Half an hour later.」

The security guard at the gate had complicated feelings as he watched Xu Yun appear at the complex once again.

’Holy cow. He came with one woman at noon, and now he’s back in the afternoon with another beautiful one.’

’And that’s not even counting the woman who came to pick him up that other day.’

’That’s three in total, each one prettier than the last.’

’Just how many of his women live in this complex?’

’Is this the life of the rich?’

The guard was so envious he could cry.

Watching the two of them enter the complex together, Manager Li turned his car around and left.

’So they’re one hundred percent involved. They even go home together after work.’

Unaware they were being followed, the pair arrived at the parking garage. Xu Yun said, ”Take care, Sister Su. And try not to miss me.”

”Don’t worry, I won’t.”

”That really hurts my feelings.”

”Hurt already? Alright, I’ll give you a chance. If you answer correctly, I’ll give you what you want.”

Su Mu hesitated for a moment, then pulled a tube of lipstick from her bag and asked with a smile, ”Do you know what flavor this is?”

”How would I know?”

Xu Yun glanced at it, exasperated. ”You’re just being unfair. If you don’t want to kiss me, just say so.”

”Why don’t you have a taste and find out?”

”How do I taste it?”

Xu Yun didn’t get it at first. ”Don’t tell me you want me to take a bite? I’m not in the habit of eating lipstick.”

”Who said anything about actually eating lipstick!”

Su Mu twisted open the lipstick, applied it to her lips, then unbuckled her seatbelt, leaned over, and pressed a kiss to his lips.

Xu Yun’s eyes widened in disbelief.

’It can be like this?!’

’Happiness came too fast, just like a tornado.’

And just like that, a few seconds later, it was gone.

”There, isn’t that better?”

Su Mu sat back and asked with a smile, ”So? Did you taste it? What flavor is it?”

”Sis, I didn’t quite get the flavor just now.”

Xu Yun stared at her and asked with a grin, ”Can I have another taste?”

”No, you only get one chance.”

”Who says? You have to make your own chances.”

Xu Yun grabbed Su Mu, leaned across the center console, and gave her a fierce kiss, savoring the taste of strawberry on her soft, pink lips.

”Okay, someone’s coming.”

Su Mu quickly pushed Xu Yun away and straightened her clothes.

Xu Yun was speechless.
