Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Private Bank Card

Xu Yun looked at the long list, not really understanding any of it.

But who cared? The insurance company would cover it all anyway. The worst that could happen was a slight increase in his premium for the next six months.

So he gave it a quick glance and signed his name.

Standing nearby, Song Xiaowei also saw the owner’s name on the form, finally confirming that the sports car belonged to Xu Yun.

’He actually lied to me.’

’No wonder he didn’t even blink when I asked to borrow over 50,000 from him the other day.’

’I can’t believe he’s a secret rich kid!’

After settling the damage assessment, Xu Yun asked about the timeline. The car would likely take about half a month to repair.

In other words, he’d be without a car for half a month.

’That just won’t do.’

Song Xiaowei asked, ”Are we going straight back to the office now?”

”Not just yet.”

Xu Yun said, ”I’m going to go buy another car. I can’t be without one; it’s too inconvenient to get around.”

”Mr. Xu, what kind of car are you looking to buy?”

Hearing this, an employee from the dealership immediately chimed in enthusiastically, ”We just got a new shipment of cars in. Would you like to take a look?”

”I’m not considering another Porsche for now.”

Xu Yun flatly refused and led Song Xiaowei away.

Just as they reached the door, however, his phone rang. It was a call from a branch of the Construction Bank.

”Hello, Mr. Xu? This is a manager from the Construction Bank.”

A pleasant female voice came through the line, ”We’ve identified you as one of our bank’s premium clients.”

”Our bank would like to offer you a complimentary upgrade for your personal savings card to better facilitate your daily use and allow you to enjoy our enhanced services.”

”When do you think you might have time to come in and process the upgrade?”

Xu Yun remembered about the gold bars, realizing he could take care of it all today.

He replied, ”I have time right now. Is it okay if I come over?”

”Of course.”

”Great, I’ll head over now.”

After hanging up, Xu Yun said to Song Xiaowei, ”Do you have anything you need to do? If you have to get back to the office, you can go on your own. I need to stop by the bank to take care of some things.”

”I’m free. I’ll go with you.”

”Alright.”

So, the two of them hailed a taxi and went to the bank.

He noticed that as soon as he walked in, a middle-aged man wearing a name badge approached him.

”Hello, Mr. Xu,” the middle-aged man said with a smile. ”I’m the manager here. Please, follow me.”

”Alright.”

This was the first time Song Xiaowei had ever seen a bank manager personally greet a client at the door.

After they followed the manager to the VIP lounge, the man politely poured them each a glass of water.

Then he got down to business.

”Mr. Xu, I apologize for taking up your personal time.”

The bank manager said, ”Given that your personal assets under management with our bank have exceeded six million yuan,”

”as per bank regulations, and in order to provide you with better service and asset management, we’ve decided to upgrade your account to our highest tier.”

This was the first Xu Yun had heard of this. He asked, ”What does that mean? I don’t quite understand.”

”It means, Mr. Xu, that you will now have one of our private banking cards.”

As he spoke, the manager retrieved a solid black bank card from an exquisite small box to his left.

He then placed it in front of Xu Yun.

He explained with a smile, ”This is your card. We’ve already had it made in advance. All you need to do is sign for it.”

”As for the specific benefits you’re entitled to each year...”

The manager produced a small booklet, saying, ”All the card’s benefits are listed in this handbook, so you can easily refer to it anytime you have a question.”

”Alright.”

Xu Yun took it and flipped it open out of curiosity, wanting to see what was inside.

He hadn’t known what to expect, but he was quite impressed after reading.

Construction Bank actually assigned every private banking client a full-service team—a branch client manager, a private banking client manager, and a wealth advisor—on call 24/7.

There were also various other perks, such as consulting services, financial services, medical services, and travel services.

To put it bluntly, having this card meant receiving super VIP treatment at practically any company that partnered with Construction Bank.

It was a symbol of status, placing him among the small, privileged elite.

”Alright, I see.”

Xu Yun didn’t read it in detail. ’I’ll look into it later when I have time,’ he thought.

After signing for his new card, he asked, ”Manager, does the bank sell gold bars? I’d like to buy some.”

”We do,” the manager replied. ”How much are you looking to buy, Mr. Xu? And what weights?”

”What’s the heaviest bar you carry?”

”1000 grams.”

”Alright then. Prepare one of each size you have, put them all in a nice-looking box. It’s for a gift.”

Xu Yun added, ”I’ll come pick them up later. Just deduct the cost directly from my account.”

”Of course, Mr. Xu.” The bank manager wasn’t particularly surprised; it was perfectly normal for a wealthy person to buy gold bars as a gift.

He said, ”Just call your dedicated bank manager a day in advance to make an appointment, and you can pick them up the following day.”

”Great. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going.”

”Of course, Mr. Xu. Take care.”

After Xu Yun left, the manager headed upstairs to report to the bank’s president.

A premium client like Xu Yun had appeared out of nowhere.

The bank only found out about him after their automated system flagged his account.

Upon noticing that large sums were frequently being deposited into his account—and that the balance was steadily growing—the bank had quietly launched an investigation.

The results showed that every transaction originated from an overseas fund account, deposited as dividends. There were no violations or improprieties whatsoever.

It was completely clean.

In other words, this Xu Yun held shares in a foreign fund; he was one of its stakeholders.

So, in order to secure this major client, the vice president personally signed off on upgrading his account to the highest tier the moment his balance hit ten million.

Ten million wasn’t a huge amount for the bank, of course.

But it all depended on the context.

It wasn’t much for a corporate or institutional account, but for an individual’s personal savings, it was quite a lot.

From the moment they entered the bank to the moment they left, the entire experience felt surreal to Song Xiaowei.

First, she found out that Xu Yun’s account balance exceeded six million, earning him the bank’s highest-tier black card.

Then, she heard him casually decide to buy a box full of gold bars as a gift.

All of it felt completely unbelievable to Song Xiaowei.

It was as if she had just caught a glimpse of another world, one she knew nothing about.

And Xu Yun was the one who had shown it to her.

’And to think I used to look down on him. Maybe in his eyes, I’m just a clown. No wonder he treated me the way he did. After all, no matter how successful I become, I’ll still end up serving people like him.’
