Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Chapter 67: Chapter 67: You’re Getting Bolder and Bolder

After warning Song Xiaowei, Su Mu nodded with satisfaction and returned to her office.

One moment she was serious and aloof, the next she reverted to her more feminine side.

Then she went back to the shopping website she had been browsing.

The screen was surprisingly filled with all sorts of sexy lingerie: red, white, lacy, cut-out...

’That’s right. Things she was too embarrassed to buy in person, she could just secretly order online.’

’If I buy it online and wear it underneath my clothes, no one will ever know, right?’

Just as Su Mu was engrossed in picking out a style, Xu Yun barged in without knocking.

This startled Su Mu. She didn’t have time to close the webpage and just slammed her laptop shut.

Seeing her guilty expression, Xu Yun teased, ”What are you looking at? That scared of me seeing it?”

”Nothing.”

Su Mu glared at him, embarrassed and annoyed. ”Can you knock next time you come into my office? I’m your manager, after all.”

”Okay, Manager.”

Xu Yun said, ”I just came to tell you that I’m heading to Guotai Mall this afternoon. They’re starting to set up the stage and the venue for the anniversary celebration, and I need to go supervise.”

”Oh, you can go.”

Su Mu said, ”Next time, for something like this, just tell Manager Li. You don’t need to report to me.”

”I was just afraid you’d miss me if I left.”

Xu Yun leaned closer and said, ”By the way, I’m about to move. How about I treat you and Jinshu to dinner tonight to celebrate?”

”You really bought a house?”

Su Mu said, surprised, ”I heard from Jinshu yesterday that she saw you at the Haiyun sales department. You were with a woman.”

”Why does she tell you everything?”

Xu Yun smiled and asked, ”What? Are you jealous?”

”Why would I be jealous?”

Su Mu said, probing, ”I was just worried you’d get scammed by a woman again and end up in court.”

”You didn’t buy that house for her, did you?”

”No, not at all. She was just helping me look at houses,” Xu Yun replied. ”I bought it for myself.”

”So you’re finally willing to ditch that tiny apartment of yours?”

Su Mu couldn’t help but smile. ”Where’d you buy it? When are you going to show me? I’ll get you a small housewarming gift.”

”No problem.”

”I’ll take you both to see it after dinner tonight,” Xu Yun replied.

”Deal. I’ll ask Jinshu.”

With their business concluded, Xu Yun was about to leave when he carelessly reached out to flip open the screen of Su Mu’s laptop, wanting to see what was on it.

But Su Mu, with her quick eyes and hands, spotted him and slammed it shut again.

He didn’t see a thing.

”...” Xu Yun.

”...” Su Mu.

Xu Yun looked at the nervous Su Mu and grinned. ”You aren’t hiding in your office watching something you shouldn’t be, are you?

It’s okay, I understand.”

”Think whatever you want.”

Shielding her laptop, Su Mu shot him a glare and said, ”If you’re going to leave, then leave. Stop bothering me while I’m trying to work.”

”I’ll go, but you have to kiss me first.”

”You’re getting bolder and bolder,” Su Mu said, flustered and annoyed.

”So, are you going to kiss me or not?”

Xu Yun held up his hands. ”If you don’t, I’m not leaving.”

Seeing that Xu Yun was starting to act shameless again, Su Mu decided to give in just to get rid of him.

’It’s just one little kiss.’

She glanced outside at her colleagues, all of whom seemed focused on their work and weren’t paying attention. She walked over and quickly pecked him on the cheek.

”There. Happy now?”

”Perfect.” Xu Yun smiled and left, completely satisfied.

However, this exact moment was witnessed by the ever-watchful Manager Li.

He even took a photo!

Manager Li looked at the photo on his phone, a smirk playing on his lips.

’I’ve finally got my proof.’

He came out of his office, deliberately intercepting Xu Yun on his way out. ”How’s that event proposal for the Pechoin live launch coming along?” he asked.

Xu Yun was a little surprised.

’He’s been ignoring me for the past few days, and now he’s seeking me out?’

’Got your energy back?’

”I’m working on it,” Xu Yun replied. ”What’s up?”

”Are you really working on it?”

Manager Li said, ”You’re either late every day or you leave early, and you slack off during work hours. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”

”So, are you going to fire me?”

Xu Yun shot back, ”The HR department is down the hall to the left. Be my guest.”

”Hmph! Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because the boss is away and you have Su Mu to back you up.”

Manager Li sneered, ”You won’t be so arrogant for much longer.”

”Alright. I’ll be waiting.”

Xu Yun smiled dismissively. ”Manager Li, I have things to do, so I can’t stand here and chat with you.”

With that, he called over Song Xiaowei and left the office.

With an ugly expression, Manager Li looked at the surrounding colleagues and yelled, ”What are you all looking at? Is your work finished?”

”...” Everyone.

...

After leaving the office, Xu Yun was in the elevator, feeling a bit down. ’I didn’t get a reward from the system.’

’Does confronting Manager Li not give rewards anymore?’

Song Xiaowei asked Xu Yun curiously, ”Do you have a grudge against Manager Li?”

”Yeah.”

”He likes to pick fights with me when he’s bored,” Xu Yun replied.

”But he’s your manager. Aren’t you afraid he’ll retaliate after you confronted him like that in front of everyone?”

”How would he retaliate?”

Xu Yun laughed. ”Fire me? He doesn’t have the authority. Make my life difficult? I’m not afraid of that. The worst that can happen is I quit, collect my severance pay, and walk away.”

”You don’t seem to care about your job at all.”

”I have professional ethics. As long as I’m employed here, I’ll do my work for the company,” Xu Yun replied. ”But that doesn’t mean I have to sacrifice my dignity. When faced with injustice, I’m certainly not going to stay silent.

But I’m different from most people, so don’t you go learning from me.”

”...” Song Xiaowei.

When they got to the car, she saw Xu Yun take out a Porsche key and unlock the red sports car he had picked her up in before. At that moment, she began to understand what he meant.

’A man who can just casually drive Manager Su’s sports car really is different from everyone else.’

’No wonder he dared to confront Manager Li so directly. He had the confidence to back it up.’

’So Manager Su was his backer.’

She also suddenly understood why Manager Su had warned her earlier that day.

The whole misunderstanding arose because she had mistaken the sports car for Su Mu’s.

After getting into the car, Song Xiaowei asked tentatively, ”What is your relationship with Manager Su?”

Xu Yun glanced back and asked, ”Manager and subordinate?”

”Well, she certainly treats you, her subordinate, very well.”

Song Xiaowei said pointedly, ”To just let you use her personal sports car like this...”

”True.” Xu Yun didn’t explain, just played along. ”Maybe Manager Su is just easygoing.”

”...” Song Xiaowei.

’Easygoing?’

’She literally just warned me today because of you!’
