The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1000: Chapter 1000: Discussing Life’s Major Events with Grandmother

Song Lingsu felt that his grandmother’s gaze was overly eager, and, how should he put it, a bit perverted?

After settling the old lady back in Chunhui Hall, he finally couldn’t hold it in any longer and asked, ”Grandmother, if you have something to say, you might as well say it directly.”

Please stop using those little eyes to have a spiritual conversation with me.

Song Ci laughed and said, ”You never mentioned that the Sixth Miss of the Duke Dingguo Mansion is your little junior sister.”

Song Lingsu was slightly stunned, and once he realized who she was talking about, he said, ”Master never accepted female disciples, so she can’t really be called a junior sister. It’s just a formal term of address.”

So there’s really nothing to say about it.

Seeing that he had no romantic or bashful thoughts at all, Song Ci couldn’t help but sigh at such a blockhead, and asked again, ”There are so many young ladies there, did you notice any of them?”

Song Lingsu’s face grew warm, and he said helplessly, ”Grandmother, one should not gaze at improper things. There were no screens set up in that room, which was already against etiquette. How could I dare to look around recklessly?”

The upbringing he received was not in vain. Entering a room full of women was already somewhat improper, let alone glancing around—certainly not the conduct of a gentleman.

Song Ci sighed in her heart; uprightness was truly uprightness, worthy of being her golden grandson.

”Silly boy, letting you come in was naturally to introduce you to everyone. You’re already fifteen; it’s time to get engaged.”

Song Lingsu’s handsome face flushed crimson, his heart pounded like a drum, and he didn’t dare to look toward Song Ci, stammering, ”I didn’t pay attention, Grandmother.” He wasn’t stupid. After thinking for a moment, he understood the connection and boldly asked, ”Did Grandmother have a particular young lady in mind?”

”It’s not Grandmother who has someone in mind, but your father has a bit of interest. However, we still need to see if you’re compatible.”

Song Lingsu was even more surprised. Was it someone Father was interested in?

He thought for a moment about the madams present and tentatively asked, ”Could it be from Madam Wen’s family?”

This time, it was Song Ci’s turn to be surprised and ask, ”Why did you think of that family?”

Song Lingsu chuckled and said, ”The other madams have long been in the capital. If they wanted to discuss their young ladies, they would already have close connections long ago. But Madam Wen, we met for the first time; she is the wife of the Governor of Jiangnan. Currently, Mr. Wen is still in office, and since our hometown is also in Yu Hang, there’s a sense of closeness.”

”Grandmother hadn’t thought of that area, considering a government official can’t stay in one position for a lifetime. So, what do you think of Miss Wen?” Song Ci asked with a smile.

Song Lingsu shook his head with a red face, saying, ”I didn’t look closely, so I can’t say.”

”No worries, there will still be chances in the future. It’s not like you’ll find a match in just one meeting; surely, you have to take a look several times. For now, it’s just a brief meeting,” Song Ci pondered and then said, ”So, Su’er, what is your ideal wife like?”

This was something Song Lingsu truly hadn’t expected to discuss with his grandmother as a major life event.

He answered with a blushing face, ”Marriage is a major event decided by parents. As long as Father and Mother and Grandmother think she’s good, that’s enough.”

”That’s not exactly how it goes. After all, she’ll be with you for life. They say young couples grow old together; if you get along well in your youth, you’ll have someone to understand and support each other in old age. Su’er, it’s not to say blind marriages can’t be happy, but a marriage where both parties are fond of each other will certainly have more joy. You hope for a harmonious relationship too, right?”

Song Lingsu’s face turned a deep red, and he said, ”I hope she’ll be filial to her parents, understand the rites and reasons, and be generous and open-minded. Skills like playing music, chess, calligraphy, and painting are secondary; the most important thing is to manage the household efficiently.”

After all, as the eldest son, if his wife could only play music, chess, calligraphy, and painting but couldn’t manage the household, what kind of chaos would that be?
