The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 982: Chapter 982: Grandma’s Matchmaking Hints

On the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Song Lingsu returned home from the Academy to celebrate the holiday with his family. As soon as he entered, he went to Chunhui Hall to pay his respects to his ancestor, Song Ci.

”Come here, let Grandma take a good look at you.” Song Ci saw her eldest grandson and smiled sincerely.

Ever since Song Lingzhao joined the military, the family felt one person short. Song Ci missed these half-grown boys even more, so now with Song Lingsu back, she was naturally delighted.

Song Lingsu approached and bowed again, ”Is Grandmother in good health? Your ungrateful grandson has been unable to serve by your side and enjoy your company, causing you to worry.”

”Grandmother is doing well, and I have attendants by my side. They almost feed me water directly to my mouth.” Song Ci held his hand and squinted her eyes as she looked him up and down, ”It hasn’t been long, but Su’er has grown taller and is becoming a young man.”

Song Lingsu had come back in May, but he wasn’t informed of his mother giving birth then, because he was attending Grandmaster Fu on a visit to an old friend in Huzhou. They didn’t want to worry him, so only after things settled did they inform him he had a new brother.

At his age, Song Lingsu was growing rapidly. In a few months’ time, he had shot up in height, his features became more defined, and his smile had a gentle warmth. Perhaps from traveling with his teacher, his demeanor became much more composed, with a tall and graceful posture, showing a refined gentleman’s air.

”Your skin is a bit darker and you’ve lost some weight, but you seem in good spirits. It seems that following your teacher outside has broadened your horizons quite a lot,” Song Ci said with a smile.

Song Lingsu sat down and calmly replied, ”Indeed, reading ten thousand books cannot compare to traveling ten thousand miles. My teacher is exceptionally knowledgeable and insightful, and I have learned a great deal from him.”

If you never go out into the world, all that you know and think of comes only from books. It’s only by going out that you realize how grand and majestic the mountains and rivers are, how much labor and effort it takes from farmers to grow and harvest rice, and understand the saying that different types of rice sustain different types of people.

”Going out allows you to see more things. While you’re young, you should travel if you can. Otherwise, you only see a small patch of the sky from the bottom of a well. Only by going out do you know how small you are and how little you actually know. The so-called well-versed and knowledgeable comes from reading extensively, having rich experiences, and broadening your personal library of knowledge,” Song Ci chuckled. ”Grandmother is old now, and my legs are not as agile, so I can’t travel. Otherwise, I’d wish to roam the world.”

Song Lingsu said, ”This time on my journey, I also did quite a bit of painting under my teacher’s guidance, capturing the scenes along the way. I’ll bring them for Grandmother to enjoy when the time comes.”

”Good, good, that sounds wonderful.” Song Ci’s eyes curved with her smile, ”Even if I can’t see the real scenes, looking at the paintings is good too. Our Su’er is talented in Dan Qing, surely you can bring the mountains and rivers to life through your work.”

Song Lingsu blushed a little, ”Grandmother overpraises me, I still have much to learn.”

”That’s okay, you’re only fifteen or sixteen this year, there’s plenty of room to grow, as long as you don’t waste it,” Song Ci said with a chuckle, ”As I always say, the more you walk around, the better you can paint the landscapes you see. Otherwise, once you get engaged, and in a few years marry, you won’t be free to travel like now, but accompanied by a lovely wife and children.”

Song Lingsu, still a young lad, couldn’t help but feel a bit shy, his face heating up as his grandmother teased him. With a blush, he murmured, ”Grandmother loves to tease your grandson.”

”It’s about time to decide on a match, or else all the good girls will be taken.”

Song Lingsu, greatly embarrassed, looked around and asked, ”I heard Sixth Brother is being raised here, where is he?”

Just as he finished speaking, a cry came from outside the door.

Speak of Cao Cao and Cao Cao arrives.
