The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 983: Chapter 983: Brothers

Song Lingsu had always hoped to have a sibling from the same mother, and now his wish finally came true, making him so nervous that he stood up.

”Is it Dan Ge’er? Why is he crying so loudly?” Indeed, the crying was loud, truly fitting for his younger brother.

Madam Deng bowed to Song Lingsu, smiling, ”The Sixth Young Master is missing his mother. As soon as he woke up, he started looking for someone.”

Song Ci said, ”Maybe he’s worried because he knows his big brother is back. Afraid of getting a beating?”

The elder brother is like a father, especially with such an age gap. If Song Lingsu is to be a ’father-like’ brother, he must certainly be authoritative, just like his father Song Zhiyuan.

Song Lingsu replied, ”I love him too much to hurt him, how could I beat him?”

As he spoke, he was already curiously approaching.

Madam Deng initially intended to give the baby to Song Ci, but the latter said, ”Let his big brother hold and comfort him. Let’s see how the brotherly bond is.”

Song Lingsu was a bit panicked.

He had no clue.

His arms stiffened as he reached out to take the baby, so nervous that he wouldn’t move, afraid of dropping the child. This amused everyone and made the child cry even louder.

Fortunately, Madam Deng taught him how to adjust the holding posture until it was comfortable. Song Lingsu then learned to pat him gently like his aunt did with his little sister, softly comforting him.

”Good Dan Ge’er, stop crying. I’m your big brother, and I’ll protect you from now on.”

Song Ci watched, smiling with gentle eyes.

No familial bond can be truly severed, especially those who share the same mother.

Dan Ge’er was quite cooperative, gradually stopping his crying under Song Lingsu’s gentle patting, looking at him with eyes full of grievance.

The brothers locked eyes.

Looking into his little brother’s eyes, Song Lingsu’s chest filled with an indescribable mix of emotions, a sense of pride and affection for this little being who was his own brother.

”Grandmother, he looks really beautiful, his skin is so fair,” Song Lingsu said with a smile.

Song Ci remarked, ”What a silly child to say beautiful, it’s handsome you mean. Pretty is for little girls.”

Song Lingsu expressed no disagreement.

Beautiful or handsome, it’s all the same to him; they’re all his dear brother, and he’d loved him at first sight.

Holding Dan Ge’er on the Arhat bed, he stretched out his finger to poke his cheek, soft as tofu.

Song Ci watched him amuse the child for a while, then said, ”Since you came to me first upon returning, now quickly go and pay respects to your mother, or she might not be able to hold back from coming to see you herself.”

Song Lingsu nodded, took out a wallet from his waist and tucked it into Dan Ge’er’s swaddle, saying, ”This is a gift from big brother to our Dan Ge’er for our first meeting.”

He reluctantly touched his cheek before bidding farewell to Song Ci and heading to the main courtyard.

Madam Song had indeed been eagerly waiting, and upon seeing the tall figure of her eldest son, her eyes turned red, tears welled up but did not fall.

”Mother, your unfilial son has returned.” Song Lingsu knelt down and performed a grand bow.

Mother and son entered the east chamber, engaging in a warm conversation.

”Did you first pay respects to your grandmother? Have you seen your little brother?”

Song Lingsu nodded with a smile, ”I saw him. He’s quite good-looking. I heard he gave you quite a hard time during his birth, mother. You’ve worked hard, and I couldn’t rush back as I didn’t receive the news.”

”It was all fine in the end, nothing worth mentioning. Everything’s good now, having you two brothers makes my heart content.” Madam Song said with a smile, ”Your father should be in his study at the moment. Freshen up and then go pay your respects to him; he must have a lot to tell you.”
